Mina's morning began with a triple dose of extra sweetness. Blind lay beside her, his toned arms holding her tight. Unlike her hair which often became a tangled rats nest in bed, his flowing locks spilled out like an elegant wine. His visor looked right into her eyes.
"I don't know if I've told you this recently," he said, his voice lowered but tender. "But I admire you so much for staying strong during this hard year. With all that's happened..."
Mina sighed. The year had started so good with her first true relationship since Chad's passing, but it has gone off the deep end with increasingly unhinged clients, aside from Todd Matinee who was merely annoying (and French) and a total hit piece on her career. Then, after months of zilch clients, she found herself dressing up as a blonde airhead and giving old men heart palpitations from running around too much. It was as ridiculous as it was brutal.
"I don't know how I do it..." Mina said, her voice cracking slightly. "It's just because I have my good friends and...you."
Blind leaned in so close her own heart started to flutter. She saw her pupils dilating in the reflection in his own visor. "Well, I'm not going anywhere, love. I never knew someone as bubble brained as you could capture my heart so strongly. But it just goes to show that first impressions aren't always the truth."
Mina smirked. Even when he was displaying his caustic jabs, he could be so sweet. "Same," Mina sighed. "Helps you're so hot. And behind that rock hard exterior is a true softy!"
Blind was wordless, but as he pulled her even closer and their noses nuzzled, she knew that was all he had to say.
Perhaps justice would prevail that day after all.

After a delightful breakfast of top-quality room service, Mina and Blind headed down to the lobby of Versailles where they waited to be picked up by her boyfriend's limo. Today, they would be spectators in prosecutor Ashley Ryan's crusade against the most fearsome billionaire on the planet. Mina never thought she'd be cheering for her love rival, but Maxine made Ashley look like a mewling pussycat. She was even receptive to the hard earned evidence she won.

The limo ride was smooth until they reached the esteemed Hall of Lawson itself where the parking lot has turned into a complete zoo. It seemed everyone from average townsfolk to fellow million-billion-trillionaires wanted to get a front row seat to someone taking Electra to task.
Deputy Sparky directed traffic into the parking lot. Seemed being a crossing guard was the only thing he could do for the chief without bungling it. Mina waved to him and he gave her a wink, probably proud he was getting into O'Law's good graces that it would earn him some more head pats and condescending remarks.
Ashley was standing in the lot too, seemingly waiting for them.
When they stepped from the limo, there was a confident look on her face. She crossed her arms boldly.
"I am surprised, undergrad," she said with a catlike smirk. "You have done what many private detectives have failed. You successfully dug up dirt that even someone as shiny as Electra can't wash."
"It's really that good huh?" Mina said, blushing profusely.
Ashley was even more detail obsessed than her beloved boyfriend. Those top prosecutors were meticulous so this was high praise.
"Yes," Ashley said, turning up her nose. "For a birdbrain lawyer, you managed to prove yourself worthy."
"Well gee," Mina said, putting her hand behind her head. "I just winged it as usual. So uh...what exactly is up with this thundergun. I figured it was what blasted President Louse that stormy night."
"Oh ho ho," Ashley chortled, holding her cat glove to her mouth. "That gun goes so much further than just the electrocution of Louse, it also..."
*Crack crack crack*
Loud sounds filled the air. Mina wasn't sure if they were fireworks or...
"Ashley!!!!" she screamed as blood spurted from the lioness.
The prosecutor fell to the ground with an anguished scream. She had just been shot several times from what seemed to be bullets.
The parking lot flew into disarray!
People were running and screaming everywhere. Some ducked for cover behind cars while others headed straight towards the hall for safety.
Someone, somewhere had a gun and it seemed that the prosecution was in their crosshairs.
