Even though she was overcome with emotion, a thought emerged from Mina's head over the doctor's dire discourse.
"Surely," she shouted, shaking him with slightly bloodshot eyes. "A dark outlook doesn't just mean he's blind, right? You shouldn't joke about those things, you know!"
"Heavens no!" Doctor Dawsom answered, still grinning. "It's not awesome to joke about those sort of things! The lad got bitten by cobra...or at least, slashed with its venom. Of course he's not doing well..."
"Please take me to him!" Mina cried. "I need to see him in his last moments. And I'm sure he'd want to see me too..."
"I think you mean hear you," the doctor said, grinning and flicking finger guns at her.
Mina glared at him through her tears.
"Sorry," Doctor Dawsom said, "that joke kind of slipped out since I couldn't make the other one about the dark outlook!"
Mina didn't even humor him with a response, other than sobbing loudly.
"Never mind..." the doctor said. "Right this way. But just a warning, death is not awesome."
As the doctor lead her, Mina couldn't stop shaking. She didn't want to see another man she loved perish. Chad was already enough to alter the course of her entire career and make her crusade for truth and justice. But seeing her handsome rival prosecutor and crush die too? What career or life path could she possibly pursue that didn't end in death?
When they arrived at Blind's room, they were greeted by brunette nurse with an equally wide mouth and a set of bright pink scrubs. Fearing the worst, Mina hid behind Dr. Dawsom. "What's the matter Nurse Terry Fic?" The dapper doctor asked.

"Oh Dr. Dawsom!" she gushed. "It's simply terrific. Before we could even operate, this gloomy girl arrived and sucked the snake venom right out of his chest! She saved the prosecutor's life!"
"Wait?!" Mina exclaimed, hands to her cheeks. "Oh my lawdy! That's Winona!"
Mina rudely shoved the hospital staff aside and burst into the room. Immediately, she saw Blind was safely tucked into bed, his brown pecs exposed from his patient's garb. (Mina ignored this obvious hotness for once)
Winona, Trudy, Chet and even Justice Divine Justice stood by his bedside. Winona, in particular, had a wide smile on her violet lipsticked mouth. There was a silver bucket beneath her.
"Winona!" Mina gasped, hand to mouth. "Did you really just..."
Winona nodded and announced in her singsong gothic voice, "Thank you Mina. I always wanted to be a vampiress and thanks to you and Blind, I can do it legally!"
"Thank god for that!" Mina grinned as tears poured from her eyes.
"More like thank goth!" Winona winked at her.
"I cannot believe it!" Divine said marveling at Winona. "This emu saved my grandson's life! Perhaps gloomy young people who call themselves birds are good for something!"
"And I'm glad for that too," Blind answered. "Things were getting a bit darker for me...a bit darker than usual!"
Everyone laughed at his joke, but Mina couldn't contain herself. She took a deep breath, her head looking like a pasty balloon and marched up to Blind's bedside.
"What is it, rookie?" Blind asked with a fond smile. "Have you come to gloat about another legal victory for you?"
"When...when I said," Mina stuttered. "I said I had a hot date with justice, I didn't mean that literally, but it turns out there is a Justice I'd like to go on a hot date with!"
Blind was silent, causing Mina's face to redden further. "So...um...Willy...will.you go on that hot date with me?"
William was silent still, but he tilted his head knowingly "As long as it's not a hot court date, Mina, you've already showed me up three times. Otherwise, it would be my pleasure...rookie."
Mina giggled and leaned close to him, giving him a little peck on the cheek
"I have no objections to that request, Mr. Prosecutor."
"Then neither do I!" Blind grabbed her by the collar and pulled her in close for a real kiss. As their lips came in contact for the first time, Mina sighed. It seemed after four trials, her attempt at courting was a success!
