Chapter 108: Krepes Gets Played

"This dance is over..." Mina said, slamming her podium. "Flannel. You work for the Electra Company. You said you were signed to the label and you were trying to get DeFunkt on there too!"

"So what?" Flannel said, her grills locked in a grimace. "They're a great company! Perhaps you aren't funky enough to get signed on their label!"

"My particular pigment may make me unable to dance well" Mina said, shaking her head before she thrust a finger at him. "But I do know a clear motive when I see it! Somebody from the Electra Company wanted DeFunkt on that label, but Todd turned you down! So you purchased a bomb from them and blew up Ladbot hoping to frame Todd!"

"Oui oui!" Todd smiled and with a happy nod. "We were breaking up and I wanted to not sign my hard work over so the Electra Company could make cheesy knickknacks like Robo-underwear!"

"Metal underwear sounds painful!" Mina exclaimed. "But not as painful as these accusations. Flannel what do you say?"

With all eyes on him, Flannel let out a loud falsetto melisma similar to powerful pop vocalist Kristine Aqualara.

"OOOOOWAAAAAAAaaAAAAaAaaa!"

His anguish singing echoed throughout the room. And as he did, he was encased in a red aura, revealing to Mina that he was indeed the murderer. But even the best singer had to finally drop a note and Flannel panted heavily resting on the witness stand.

The judge immediately removed her glasses to gape at the man. "I think I speak for everyone, dear, when I ask, what on earth is your main problem?"

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Flannel grinned as sweat dripped from his bleached hair. "Sorry," he panted. "I stubbed my toe on this stand. I just wanted to say, that I totally agree with everything you said about the bomb."

"So," Mina answered. "Are you pleading guilty?"

"Hold on," Flannel said, thrusting both of his gloved hands forwards. "I never said that. But I will say, I did see someone with a remote control to detonate the bomb. But to quote the legendary reggae singer Sir Shag-A-Lot, 'it wasn't me!""

"You did?" Mina asked, curiosity illuminating her eyes. " Who if not you?"

Flannel's face twisted in a curved grin. He pointed straight at his newfound girlfriend. "I saw her with a remote that blew Christian straight to hee-hee!"

It was like Monika's eyes were about to bulge out of her skull. "What do you mean I did it?!"

"Check those pockets of hers!" Flannel said.

Monika reached into the back pocket of her hot pink sweatpants incredulously and removed a detonation remote. Mina immediately realized that when Flannel reached around her in that embrace, he had slipped the incriminating device into his girlfriend's pocket.

"Wait a minute," Monika gasped in her thick accent. "Ow can you all think eet was me? I didn't 'ave zis remote in my pocket before zis!"

Flannel Billions merely crossed his arms. "I can guarantee there is no fingerprints on that remote but hers!"

Mina realized exactly what the heinous singer had done. He had donned those iconic Jack Michaelson gloves, not to impersonate his hero, but rather to prevent fingerprints from appearing on the remote he used to kill Ladbot.

"And those gloves fitted," she thought, "so he would be acquitted."

The judge sent the bailiff over to Monika to secure cuffs on her arms. "We will run a fingerprint test on this remote," Divine said. "And we shall see who is truly behind this murder."

As Monika was lead out of the courtroom and the deadly remote removed from her hands, she snarled at Flannel. "I cannot believe zis betrayal! Now I see why you are called zee playboy. Because you played me!"

Flannel merely chuckled. His blood red aura enveloping his body. He had managed to not only play Monika, but the system itself and there was nothing Mina could do.
