The elevator ride to the top of Hotel Security was surprisingly short and quick, but awkward. Standing between the de-mayored Monty Banks in a meat barrel and the stuffy owner of Hotel Security, she found she had very little to talk about. Both were middle aged men with their own peculiar smell that made the elevator reek. But as the elevator lifted past several glass windows, she got to see all of Business Park lit up like a Christmas tree. Thoughts overwhelmed her mind as she wondered who exactly this mystery mayor was.
With a resounding ding at heights Mina had never scaled before, a mechanized female voice spoke over the intercom. "We have reached the 100th floor."
"Spot on, Elly," Fletcher said, cigar in his mouth.
Mina's eyes widened. She turned to the door in his ridiculous powdered wig. "Who is Elly? That just sounded like an automated voice."
Baron Von Fletcher snorted. "I like to treat everyone, even the elevators as valued staff in this fabulous hotel. That is why I decided to give the robot lass a name, Elly Vator…get it? Hee-haw-haw!"
"Speaking of robots," Mina muttered. "Eyes set to rolling mode."
When the stainless steel doors opened, her eyes no longer rolled, but nearly bugged out at the poshness and suave-ness of the ritzy room. "Oh my lawdy!"
"Enjoy your visit at my absolutely fabulous resort and casino," Baron Von Fletcher said, presenting the penthouse to a awestruck Mina. "And remember, there's no safer, more secure hotel than Hotel Security. I can guarantee it like water is wet."
Fletcher gave another donkey laugh and walked back towards the elevator, leaving Monty and Mina at the mercy of an unbelievably fancy hotel penthouse.
The living room was larger than Mina's entire apartment. In fact, you could cram five of her apartment's into that one foyer. The enormous space was well used too. There was an entire buffet table with every kind of entree and appetizer you could dream of at a lavish party: Glazed chicken, bowls of gourmet salad soaked in oils and dressing, shrimp crostinis (Mina's favorite appetizer) pigs in a blanket, platters of brick oven pizza and even very fancy rolled Italian meats and cheeses that Mina was very tempted to store in Monty's barrel for D. Vito.
A giant ice sculpture was positioned at the center of the room. It resembled a crow trying its best to imitate the elegant neck curves of a swan and a wide plate glass window overlooked the city. Mina imagined it would be perfect to gaze out of while clutching Blind's hand. She could tell him her view of the city, in addition to her carefully formulated new year's resolution. He would be the first person she told.

There also were hundreds of people in the room. Many Mina didn't even know, but she assumed they were all citizens of Business Park, invited to the inaugeral ball for voting in this new mayor.
Speaking of which, Mina thought to herself. Where is this new mayor?
Before she could look for the mysterious Ivor Ebony, a husky voice called out from the crowd.
"Mina?!" a deep, female voice called from the crowd. "Is that you?"
Emerging from the crowd, Mina's two friends, Winona and Trudy smiled at her. Trudy wore a fiery red dress that wrapped tightly around her frame. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun. The tall Winona had donned a goth Lolita dress, as black as night with hundreds of pink ribbons and bows. Bright red pentagram hoop earrings hung from her ears. They were quite the pair, but Trudy pointed a pudgy finger at Monty.
"Oooh Mina!" Trudy taunted. "Is that elderly hobo your date for tonight?!"
"Your dad's such a nice person, Mina," Winona smirked. I had no idea you had daddy issues."
Both Mina and Monty turned redder than the party's punch. "No guys," Mina said, shaking her head frantically. "He's not my…"
"Thath would be simply scandalous," Monty lisped.
Mina turned her head to the corrupt ex mayor. "Now you care about scandals?! After your career is over?"
"Never too late to turn over a new leaf," Monty chuckled, pulling his barrel suspenders. "Besides, I don't want to be arrested!"
"I don't actually have a date tonight," Mina said, gazing out the huge window. "I've got a lot on my hands lately."
"It's alright," Trudy said sadly. "My date stood me up too. Said he had an impromptu trip to South America."
Winona sighed. "And Chet said he'd rather stay home and play video games than socialize."
Trudy surveyed the crowd. "But what about that dashing William Justice! Why didn't you ask him, Mina? I just saw him alone."
Mina's heart pounded excitedly. "Blind is here? Where I…"
She felt a warm hand grab hers, and though for a second, she hoped it was Blind, it was a young woman in a white silky dress.
"You're coming with me," she said, as she stomped in her heels over to the window. "Since I hear you're dating Blind."
"Well," Mina said, feeling slightly confused. "I went on one date with Blind, but it wasn't a blind date…"
The silly young attorney crossed her eyes and giggled. "Well, actually it was. Duh."
"Listen sister," the woman said, her face still not looking at Mina. "William…is not the man you think he is…"
As they reached the window, she turned to face Mina. "And I should know. I was his fiance."
