Chapter 94: Enter the Charismatic Millionaire, Flannel Billions

Ever since the tragic Ladbot murder, Rocketstar Ranch had been closed off to the public. Being a permanent guest of the Electra Company allowed Mina and her friends easy access to the crime scene (being Mantron's attorney helped too.)

The grevious remains of Ladbot remained tattered all over the disco stage. Shards of gold were mixed with the blood of the man who performed his robot role and a cracked television screen helmet lay in the center. "Trudy...." Mina exclaimed as her friend crept over to the golden helmet with her hands outstretched. "Don't steal the crime scene!"

Trudy turned beat red and held her hands behind her back. "S-sorry," she said, shuffling back. "Just...selling a genuine Ladtron helmet on D-Jay would pay off three months of rent!"

Star's golden skin turned a mortified white. "That's technically his robot skull..."

Trudy narrowed her eyes and rubbed her hands. "The black market it is!"

"Excuse me, er... little lady," a suave voice responded. "I'd prefer you not call such a shady place, a black market. I'm a proud member of Wall Street after all!"

Suddenly, Star screamed. Had someone just punctured her with a sharp knife or was she truly...star struck. "Eeee!" the normally husky voiced woman squealed with delight. "Flannel Billions!"

A dapper man with dark skin approached them. He wore bright red flannel and tight skinny jeans. Designer shoes and a fancy hat fit for spelunking. He was all smiles when he saw Star. "Hey, Star Skye. A pleasure hittin' you up! I'm a big Flan of Venus Woman From Mars."

"A flan?" Trudy asked, puzzled. "You're pudding?!"

"Nah," Flannel answered. "That's what I call the fans of the great Flannel Billions!"

The millionaire playboy winked at Star. "Now what brings you here?"

"Ahem..." Mina exclaimed. "We're here too."

"Umm...what's your net worth, girl?" Flannel said, shooting an accusatory glare. "I only talk to those on a similar level."

"Err..." Mina said, pushing two fingers together. "Trudy, do you know what that is?"

Trudy looked equally baffled. "I think that's how many crabs you catch when you go fishing?"

"Yikes!" Flannel exclaimed. "I don't want to know how many crabs you have, lady. Never mind... If you're Star's friends, you're good company."

He politely extended his hand to Mina and shook it. "The name's Flannel and though my last name isn't legally Billions, it's what i'd like to aspire to."

His eyes met Star's and he beamed at her. "So what brings you chicks here? I gotta say, nothing is a bigger tourist attraction than a crime scene!"

Star shook her head. "No, Flannel. I'm here to help Todd's attorney. We're trying to get to the bottom of the murder of Lad-Bot."

Flannel rubbed his chin and gaped at the remnants of De Champs. "Jeez...that was awful," the famous singer muttered. "I had just helped these guys get famous too. "

"Just?!" Trudy demanded with her hands on her hips. "Excuse me, Mr. Get Funky. DeFunkt were famous since the 90s..."

Flannel was silent and crossed his arms. "Sorry, girl. I should have said, I broke them to the mainstream. Before I headed Get Funkay with my charisma and smooth moves they were sorta underground. I was their glitzy elevator to stardom if you get me!"

Trudy's nostrils flared furiously. "Book him, Mina!"

"For what?" Mina asked. "Humble bragging isn't a crime."

"Hey now," Flannel said with hurt in his eyes. "Just jokin' I mean the bots nothing but goodwill. I was happy to help them reach for the stars."

"Mina..." a deep, stuffy, but much less conceited voice answered.

"Wowie!" Mina exclaimed and smiled as a familiar face approached her.

Blind appeared in a reflective, gilded suit. His arms and legs were clad in the finest metal and he looked magnificent with a brand new solid gold visor. His long dark hair was elegantly permed.

"Hubba hubba!" Mina swooned. "That's one heck of a mandroid!"

Blind leaned forward and kissed her.

"Whoa, brobot," Flannel said with a callous grin. "You know this fine girl?"

"She's mine," Blind said, dead serious as he firmly gripped her shoulders.

"Relax," Flannel said flicking a finger gun. "She's outta my class"

Mina blinked her eyes innocently. "But we never went to school together."

Blind slapped his visor over her scatterbrained mind. "That's not what he means."

"I kid, I kid," Flannel remarked. "Attorney girl, you have one talented boyfriend. He can do everything that Ladbot did, except he's much taller!"

"Then how are you gonna replace Ladbot?" Trudy asked.

"I do it all kneeling!" Blind said, offering a rare laugh.

He grasped Mina by her shoulders. "Now if you excuse me, Mr. Billions, Mina and I would like to share some private displays of affection!"

Flannel smirked. "I like that. You never know when the paparazzi are gonna strike. Later, my funky pretties!"

Tugging her arm, Blind led Mina away from everyone else. She was sort of relieved to not have to talk with a playboy anymore. Instead, she could talk with her sweet boy. There was a serious look on Blind's face, meaning she might have to save the lovey-dovey for later.

"How's your new career going, Willy?" Mina asked kindly.

"My acting career is smashing!" Blind remarked. "As for my detective career... I have a lead but you might not like it!"
