Chapter 95: A Dirty Rotten No Good Crepe

The hallways to the dressing rooms of Rocketstar Ranch were chrome plated like the insides of a spaceship. All along the wall hung photos of famous space serials that had been filmed in this illustrious ranch. Mina wanted to look for the more recent Venus Woman From Mars on the walls, but she knew she had a job to do. Blind led the way down the hallway, power walking but walking lightly just in case there were any security guards. Mina clicked quickly on her heels, but not too fast in order to catch a glimpse of his gold plated rear. He did look quite good in robotic tights.

"We're coming up to Todd's room!" Blind said, as he felt the braille beneath the sign. "Be as quiet as possible...so we don't get...oof!"

Mina had walked straight into him. Blind turned around and hissed. "Which one of us is blind here?!"

"Sorry," Mina giggled. "Can't help it! You have a nice robutt!"

Blind growled. "You're absolutely...Ugh. never mind. Just be quiet and watch where you're going."

The two carefully crept into Todd's room. Mina gasped in amazement. She didn't wish to endanger Trudy or Star, but they would have absolutely loved to see all of DeFunkt's amazing memorabilia that Todd Matinee had saved. There was five pedestals that showcased the evolution of Mantron's robotic head. From its colorful beginnings with a rainbow visor to the bleak and stark Only Human era to the gilded Spontaneous Access Memories/SPAM era. The golden piece of ham that he had won from the Hammies was positioned front and center next to them and colorful posters of the Ghost of the Matinee and The RoHuman Spectacle hung above it.

Mina quickly snapped a photo with her phone. Blind hissed again at her. She was lucky he wasn't a snake, just an incredibly pissed off, handsome blind guy. "Just stop fooling around here!" he said. "I have something really important to show you."

Stolen story; please report.

He reached into the dresser drawer and removed a letter he had found tucked away. He handed it to Mina and as her eyes scanned over it, they got bigger and bigger, ready to bulge out of her head.

"Read it..." Blind said. "I sent it to my butler and well, it doesn't look good for your client."

Mina mustered the best French accent she could muster from fifth grade French class.

"Bonjour mi amor,

I am writing to you to say, we cannot do this anymore. I believe Christian has his suspicions and you are much too important to me to be found out.

Our affair has been one of great pleasure for moi. As you know, I cannot get enough of your voulez vous. I love a Frenchman with such a big...baguette. Indeed, that was the finest piece of bread you had purchased for moi at Les Scargo's. But our love is now old. Dangerous as well...and we shall part ways. Do not cry mi amor, smile because we found comfort in the age of technology. Farewell, parting Is sweet sorrow,

Au revoir,

Monika.

Mina grimaced, lowering the sheet of paper. "That dirty rotten crepe...I mean creep! I cannot believe Todd and Monika were having a secret affair!"

Blind shook his head. "It really doesn't look good for your client. He has the perfect motive for killing Christian DeChamps now. He clearly wanted him out of the picture so he could have this powdered crepe lady all to himself!"

Mina turned paler than her pasty shade of white. It was so true. She now had evidence that would not only incriminate Todd Matinee. It would make him look like an absolute leech. Or a snail...depending on the stereotype.

Mina walked over to the door. "Let's just get out of here. I have to question Todd about this and..."

Suddenly, the door flew open, causing Mina to jump back. Her worst nightmare had walked through the door. Miss Snooty Prosecutor Ashley O'Ryan with her perfectly puffed up blonde mane of hair stepped inside. She was accompanied by a slightly uneasy looking Chief O'Law.

"Good job, losers," Ashley sneered, snatching the letter from her. "You have done my job for me. Your private detective work has just tipped the scales of justice in my favor!"
