Chapter 163: Revisit to Clinically Awesome

The next day, the July rain did not let up and neither did the case.

Mina and Blind caught a cab headed straight for Clinically Awesome, the clinic where Blind had been hospitalized for the cobra venom 'bite' he had received from Charlotte O'Scara, one of the top ranking members of the Aura.

Sadly, Mina's favorite cab driver was conspicuously absent. D. Vito was replaced by a man who didn't talk much and didn't look back at them either. The most she could tell about him was that he smelled of bean sprouts. (Sadly, a far cry from aroma of the delicate Bronxian combo of beef and cheese.)

She was dressed in a hot pink college hoodie reading "Lawson Sigma" with the hood pulled tightly over her head to mask her now dirtying blonde pigtails. It seemed Vicki Electra had as much consideration for her dye job as she had for Mina herself: None at all.

Blind, however, was dressed as dapper as his prosecutor's days. Clad in his tux, velvet blindfold, and deep conditioned hair that shined and bounced better than hers.

Mina had never seen him look so good since last year. Being a detective was debonair, but she missed the sheer commanding presence of prosecutor William Justice, a man as blind as the ideal court of law.

"We are here," the cab driver said as emotional as his comradery with them. "Clinically Awesome."

Blind scowled. "I'm lucky I don't have to see this place."

Mina squeezed his hand, feeling like she was the emotional support system for her boyfriend this time around. "This time, you're a visitor, not a patient. And I'm just as relieved as you are about that."

"Right," he said, turning to her. "And I'm here to be a fighter against injustice. I did not know I would be returning to law to fight for the president of the United States!"

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"And me!" Mina said, pumping her fist. "A win for President Louse is a win for me. I won't stop until this billionaire isn't picking on anybody. The one percent or the rest of the percent!"

The cab pulled up to the front of the hospital, the entrance where ambulances took their emergency patients.

The two thanked the cab driver, who merely nodded.

Together they entered, looking like the top prosecutor and his underdressed girlfriend. Immediately, they were greeted by a familiar face. A broad jawline and full head of slicked hair (implanted or otherwise) signified that Dr. Dawsom of Dawsom's Creek was in the house.

"What an Awesome Day at Clinically Awesome!" Dawsom proclaimed. "Well, except for those with measles."

He chuckled at his own joke, before running hand across his cleft chin. "Now what can I do for you? You clearly have caught the fashion bug!"

Mina knew by her boyfriend's clenched jaw that if his eyes worked, they'd be rolled heavily. This guy wasn't as much a doctor as a"fop-tor."

Mina figured her naturally bubbly demeanor was enough to defuse the prickly tension.

"My hot prosecutor boyfriend is here to see Mr. Louse, y'know, the president. How is he?"

"Ah," Dawsom answered. "Not awesome. His last words were, 'nurse, where is my Burger Princess Whooper?'"

"Wait whaaaaa?!" Mina stammered. "He died asking for a hamburger?!"

Even Blind was shook. Had their patient expired long before they arrived.

"No nonono," Dawsom said. "I mean his last words to me were those. I haven't seen him since."

Mina placed her hands on her hips.

Dawsom opened his seemingly permanently closed eyes. "I just mean, I've been busy with patients since then so I haven't seen him. But yes, his vitals are totally awesome!"

"Great..." Blind said, "Thanks. I have an appointment with his wife. She is looking to pursue legal action for his injuries."

"What did he stick a fork in an electrical outlet?" Dawsom asked.

"More like an Electra outlet!" Mina said angrily.

The two of them thanked the doctor (or grumbled, in Blind's case) and headed to the VIP Ward designed for celebrities and politicians to recieve better care than everyone else. They had reached room 42 when Mina noticed the dubious presence of two people standing outside the president's ward.

It was mayor Ivor Ebony and...another prosecutor, Ashley Ryan.

Snooty and the beast, Mina thought.
