Mina gaped at more opulence in the Versailles building that she had ever seen in her life. The walls were papered with golden and white pinstripes, the elevators were made of a shiny gilded chrome and even the potted ficus plants were housed in sparkling gold pots.
At the front desk, Blind nodded to the secretary, a young, short haired brunette in a golden suit and cap to match the decor. "Hello Mr. Justice," the young woman answered, respectful and polite to the handsomest and richest prosecutor in the town.
"Good day, Nova," Blind said with an affirmative nod, "I don't believe you've met my girlfriend, Mina."
"A pleasure to meet you, Mina," Nova said with a head bob.
All Mina managed was a completely unrelated exclamation of "My lawdy…I can't believe he lives here!"
"I believe we have a case of opulence shock!" Nova responded. "You might need to wave a one dollar bill in front of her face to make her come to!"
Blind removed a dollar from his gilded wallet and held it to his girlfriend's nose. Suddenly, her pupils shrank and she was revived. "What in the huh?! Blind where am I? I dreamed I was in a gold palace!"
"Thanks for the tip, Nova!" Blind said and handed her the dollar bill. "Here is your tip!"
"Thank you!" Nova said bowing before wrinkling her nose. "Wait, this has been up her nose!"
The duo escaped to the elevators before they could be reprimanded by the quirky secretary. Mina was still starstruck, but she made sure to be a bit more subtle about her amazement. She didn't really think about Blind being filthy rich when they started dating, but it seems by happenstance started dating someone who was.
'Hehehe,' Mina giggled to herself, imagining herself as ritzy Ms. Justice. "Sometimes it pays to not be shallow when finding true love so you can be shallow later on…"

"What did you just say?" Blind asked after just pressing the button for the eightieth story penthouse, but Mina glommed onto him with a warm hug. In truth, she didn't care about being rich, aside from paying rent, good food and buying gold painted heels, the true asset was she had found someone who loved her as much as her Chad did. Wasn't that enough in a cruel cruel world?
"Nothing…" Mina sang, burying her face in the lapel of his jacket "Just that I'm so happy to finally see a part of your life I never had…your inner sanctum!"
"Ah yes," Blind said stoically while offering a hand that wrapped around her shoulder. "I forgot that you had never seen the area of operations for your greatest rival prosecutor. Someone who made you tear that legal brunette hair out every night after our cases!"
"As if," Mina teased, sticking her tongue out. "I knew you were always a big softy. I was more dazzled by that neatly conditioned flowy locks of chocolate hair and your mysterious demeanor."
"Touche," Blind said, managing a slight, reluctant grin.
"After all, you were never a certified, literal grade A witch with a B like Ashley Ryan!"
"Speaking of my psycho ex," Blind said, grimacing. "Let's not speak of her tonight. I want it to be good and she just drives me so far up a wall, I'm on the ceiling."
"Understandable…" Mina said. "I only had one case against her and it was like fighting a humanized version of Yarhard's legal library! I just wish she'd lay off me."
Mina began to massage Blind's bicep slyly. "My only crime against her was a crime of love! Stealing her perfect slice of man meat and leaving her in a jealous catty rage!"
Blind held a finger to his lips as the elevator dinged at the eightieth floor. "No more," he said, capturing her attention immediately. "Tonight…it's just you and me."
"Roger that!" Mina said, playfully saluting him.
As they stepped out of the elevator to a gilded penthouse door, Mina began to walk but her boyfriend seized her. "Wait…" he said suddenly. "Before we enter…"
Slowly he unwrapped the blindfold from around his head, and much to her surprise, he wrapped it around her head, making the world around her dark as it covered her eyes.
"Hehe," Mina giggled. "Either this is going to be something naughty or…"
"Or…" her vision impaired boyfriend said. "For the first time, I want you to go into my apartment…blind!"
