Volume 6.5 Chapter 79: Thank Goodness!
"..." Did he really go? Peer disbelief resided on Scarlet's face as she thought.
Three days had passed since Keith had missed class. That was why her heart churned. Everyone on his island was calm for the most part, and she was the only one feeling something.
No! The thought kept coming to Scarlet's mind; Keith was lying in a pool of his own blood. That thought kept coming to her mind. It was the same situation that happened to Selk. She quickly grabbed all the equipment she had. The demons who saw how she rushed out were shocked. Her speed was so quick that no one could have reacted to that! Even if they did, Scarlet would have waved them off.
She headed to the gates of the city.
"I need to borrow a horse." Before the coachman could even reply, Scarlet had tossed the coins at him. She jumped on a horse and quickly dashed off.
"Wait, you gave me too much!" The coachman shouted. Scarlet had tossed him a couple of gold coins. But the girl didn't care as she went forward.
The only thing on her mind was to get there.
...
She rode the horse for two days straight. In that short timeframe, Scarlet's expression changed into a dreary one. That was all due to how she went about; no drinking or eating. There were no stops or breaks as she forced the horse to continue. I'm almost there.
Despite her tiredness, she could tell she was close to where Keith was.
And she was correct as a few feet away, she spotted something dark. A tent? Getting closer, Scarlet realized in front of her was a camp. Jumping down, she touched the burnt wood. It's slightly hot. That meant someone was here.
Keith was here. Knowing that there was a campfire right around her brought her relief. But that soon came the problem.
"BZZZ!" What soon came after was a ringing sound coming from the back! When she turned around, her expression widened. That was because in front of her was a bee. It was the size of a fowl.
Scarlet quickly raised her staff, prepared for a fight. She cast her fire magic. It seemed the dragon bee was careless. However, there was an oversight.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"What?!" Her magic didn't hit the dragon bee at all. It was way off target, landing into a tree. Riding for so long without any break had dulled her reaction and powers.
That was not the worst of it.
"BZZZ!" The dragon bee made a low sound. It had perceived Scarlet as an enemy. It charged at the girl, and the latter raised her staff to guard. But she was not a vanguard.
The bee's strength was much higher, sending Scarlet into a tree.
"Gah!" Scalet looked up to see the bee approaching her, ready to deal the final blow. However, Scarlet didn't cry or whine. She accepted it. This was retribution for what she did.
I'm sorry. Scarlet wanted to say this to two people. Before the bee could go in for the kill,
"Woah! Stop!" A voice quickly shouted. That was the only snippet as she fainted.
...
"Ugh." Scarlet slowly sniffed the air as she slowly woke up. As she did, she looked around. Where am I? And why does it smell so good? The smell around her was incredible. But then she noticed someone by the fire.
"Oh, good. You're awake." Keith smiled.
"Keith!" Scarlet blinked as she tried to get up. But that caused her face to twist.
"Don't try to move. You got hit hard."
"..."
"What?"
"I get it. We're dead, right?"
"Huh?" Keith's eyes twitched as he retorted, "We're not dead." Aren't you in pain?
"We're not?!"
"Yes, we're not." This girl had some weird ideas going through her mind. But then he questioned, "So why did you come here? Also, have some of this." Keith was about to hand her some soup when she grabbed his collar!
"You idiot! Why did you come here?!" Scarlet roared in his face. But that only confused the guy even more!
"What do you mean?! You said you needed dragon honey for your friend. I came here to get it?!" Did she forget?! How could she be this scatterbrained?
"You didn't have to come. It's dangerous." One person could not deal with the dragon beehive.
"But you said your friend was in danger, so I'm going to help out."
"..." ...Just because I said that?
"I know it must have been difficult trying to keep everything in. It's probably even more so when asking me to help. But don't worry about it. You're my friend. So I will help out whatever I can." Keith always thought of Scarlet as his friend.
Scarlet's expression widened when she heard that. You think of me as your friend? When that was said, something in her shouted,
"I lied!"
"Huh?"
"I lied about my friend being in danger! I was the one who caused the rumors about you being a womanizer! When we were working together, I tried to singe you! I did all of that! I was the one who caused all the trouble you have!"
Hate me. Just hate me.
Everyone had a moment of silence. And it was expected. What Scarlet revealed was something anyone would be livid about. And yet.
"Oh, thank goodness!"
