Volume 5 Chapter 60: Newfound Friendship
"Hello, dorm mother Diana." Herrick greeted Diana. She was an enigma, but he could feel it. She was so much stronger than Nephele.
"Welcome home, Herrick." Diana smiled.
"Is Keith home?" Herrick looked around.
"Keith will return in a few hours. He went to the library. Gabriel, Jack, and Sarah won't be joining us today. They're going to a party."
"I see," Herrick remembered something about them heading to a party.
"Where is Master Fira?" Herrick wanted to meet with the little spirit.
Diana chuckled, "Fira is in the back dealing with the garden."
"Thank you." With that, Herrick headed back to the ground. And he saw another person there as well.
"Arlo, you're here as well?"
"Herrick, welcome home!" Fira waved her hand.
"Oh, hi." Arlo slowly waved.
"Aren't you going to the party?" Last time he checked, shouldn't Arlo also be there; he was a human.
Arlo scratched his head. "No. That party is for humans. But I'm only half." He could go but didn't want to bother the others because he was half-dwarf. The others would shun him.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"You were looking for Fira, right. I won't bother you two." Arlo got up, ready to return to his room.
"Hey," Herrick called out,
"Hmm?"
Herrick started to scratch his head before speaking, "I'm kinda bad at things like this. But I-" Before Herrick could say it, he hesitated and then thought,
"Argh!" A scream came out the next second, which confused Arlo and Fira, "I'm sorry."
That caused Arlo to be confused, "About what?" What was there to apologize for?
"I'm sorry about what I said about you being weaker than me," Herrick remembered what he said to him.
"Ah," Arlo waved his hand, "You don't have to worry about that!"
"No. What I said was wrong. You're different from me; however, you're strong. I realized that I lack many things and need to improve."
"I see," Arlo didn't say anything. However, a thought came to his mind, "Wait here for a moment," Arlo quickly headed into the mansion. He returned a second later,
"What's that?" Arlo had brought something with him.
"This is a pot I created," Arlo smiled, "It's not the same as the one you have. I used some materials that will help keep your plant stable. That way, you don't have to worry about it so much,"
Herrick's eyes widened.
"If you continue to walk with it all the time, the shaking would affect it. I made this pot so it can withstand the vibration."
"..."
"I'm not as strong as you. But I can make things to help out," Arlo scratched his head.
"Thanks," Herrick smiled. That was something he could never think of.
"No problem. Let me know if you need help," Arlo smiled.
"This is nice," While the two talked, Diana and Nephele watched the newfound friendship.
...
While that happened on the island, Keith was at the library taking out some books. And when he headed to his usual spot, he was surprised to spot Ange.
"Senior Ange, why are you here?"
"Ah, Keith." Ange looked up and explained, "You see. I still need to do some work here."
"I see." A little work? That giant pile of paperwork said something differently.
"Do you need help?" However, Ange shook her head, "I'm fine. How can I ask my junior for help? I can finish it in an hour!"
"We're going to be closing in half an hour!" The librarian stated.
"..."
"Do you still need my help?"
"...Please," Ange sighed.
"What do you need me to work on?" Keith smiled as he sat across from her.
"Please check this paperwork here," Ange handed the paperwork over to him, "You just need to check if it's correct with the paper here,"
"Gotcha," Keith smiled. Like that, he got to work. The task was simple enough as he worked. As he did,
"...What's the matter, Senior?"
"How could you move so fast?!" Keith's hands were like a blur.
"This is normal pace, though?" Keith had always checked the paperwork from his bakery. This was light work for him.
"..." "Let's keep going."
