Volume 5 Chapter 83: Succession’s Difficulties
When Fin heard that, he grabbed his head, "Don't get me started! I wish all my children to do better! Why couldn't they all get along?!" From how he acted, it seemed something happened with his children.
"I see," Cedric grabbed his head, "Why are they fighting for succession now?"
"Mr. Fin, you're a noble?" Dennis questioned. A fight for succession? That usually meant they were fighting for a noble title.
"Of course! What do you think I was?" Fin gave a proud smile.
"Anyways," "Hey!"
"Your children are fighting for succession now?" Cedric questioned, ignoring the look Fin gave.
"Yeah. I have so many kids. However, all of them are now fighting with one another." Fin sighed.
"..." Did you have to add the first part? Everyone wondered whether or not he was proud of that. Either way,
"Why are they having a battle over succession? Couldn't you decide for them?" Dennis interjected. Fin was the head of the household. He should have the ability to decide who would be the next head.
"It's not that simple, Dennis." Dalen and Cedric shook their heads.
"Eh?" It's not?
"Choosing the head has a lot of politics involved. What's more, having the title would be dangerous."
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"Huh?"
"I see what you mean." Dalen nodded.
"Mr.Dalen, mind explaining to me?" Dennis was a commoner. He had no idea how it worked.
"In simple terms, the person named successor will have a target on his back."
"?"
Dalen added, "Let me give you an example. Let's say you have been working hard to earn this once-in-a-lifetime promotion. However, it was given to an incompetent person?"
"Oh, I would be angry." Dennis nodded.
"That's the point. If Fin choses a successor early on, the others would gang up on him and end his life." Lin explained. It was a group of wolves where one turned into a sheep. The rest would devour the sheep!
"What?!" Dennis's eyes widened.
"Yeah. It's annoying. When I named my successor, some tried to cause problems for him. It was quite the hassle." Cedric groaned as he looked up at the sky. It seemed there were some unpleasant things that happened.
"Ugh, Just thinking about it is enough to give me a headache." Fin took another deep sigh.
The customers looked at the two. It seemed being a noble took work.
"Here's your order, Mr. Fin, Mr.Lin." While they talked, Keith worked on their order.
"Thanks. Eh? There's something else here," Finn noticed there was an extra piece of crepe. Keith smiled,
"Treat it as something to help give you relief."
"..."
"Such an angel!" Fin wanted to cry! "How come my children aren't like you?!" Keith was such a sweet child! But his children were a bunch of tigers.
"That's because this kid is special," Dalen commented. Keith was kind in nature.
"As long as my kids had an ounce of compassion, I would be so relieved." Fin sighed but thought, "Well, there are some."
"Indeed," Lin nodded.
"You wouldn't say that when you see the kid in action." "Eh?"
"That child is a monster hiding in sheep's clothing," Cedric muttered. The others nodded to that.
Did we miss something? Fin and Lin looked at one another.
"Ho!" Aria screeched a bit. Keith looked down to see all the meat gone.
"You can have as much meat as you want, Aria." Keith smiled as he placed more meat onto the owl's plate.
"..." "Damn lucky owl!"
"How could she eat such good food?!" Never in their life have they felt such envy for an animal.
"Keith!" While Keith continued to make food for everyone, Gabriel quickly rushed to his side.
"Gabriel, what's the matter?" Keith frowned. He noticed the tense expression Gabriel had on his face. It was something he would never make.
"Keith, we have trouble!"
"Trouble?"
"Herrick was sent to the nurse's office!" Keith blinked his eyes when he heard that.
What?!
