Volume 5 Chapter 42: Ticking Time Bomb
"He needs things like this to improve himself," Keith shook his head, "Isn't that right, Professor Aidiun?"
"Mmhmm," Aidiun nodded. He understood what Keith was trying to do. He turned to everyone, "Everyone, what Herrick lacks isn't something physical. However, it has something to do with his maturity."
"Eh?" Carolyn and the others were still confused. Diana understood what he meant, while Nephele had no clue.
"Gabriel, can you explain it to them?" Keith turned to Gabriel. He was the only person who understood what Herrick lacked.
"Guys, Herrick doesn't lack anything when it comes to strength. Actually, he's one of the strongest in our class. But what Keith said is correct. Besides strength, he lacks everything else." Herrick was a one-trick pony.
That was the best way to describe him.
"Also, that guy has an impulsive attitude as well." That was known to everyone in the class.
"This trait plus his talent is just a disaster waiting to happen," Keith could envision it.
Short temper + super strong = explosion waiting to happen.
"He's a ticking time bomb. If we don't teach him how to control his impulsiveness, he will do something extreme." Beating up students was the least of their worries. From how fast Herrick went into a blinding rage, he might do something that he would live to regret.
"Kinda like you?"

"Hey," Keith chopped Carolyn in the head, "It's nothing like me. And woman, I'm trying to have a serious conversation."
"Ahh," Alfia got it now, "Is that why you asked him to do all those humiliating things while keeping a straight face?"
"Yes, it's to strengthen his tolerance. That's the only thing he should be focused on." Keith sighed. He just didn't account for Herrick being this much of a dense fool.
"There's going to be a lot of criticism coming his way. He needs to build up his patience," Keith added. From what he heard, Herrick could be the next in line for the throne. If he ever became king, he would have to face criticism. A king needed to be calm and collected.
Herrick was everything but that.
"..." The others understood now.
"Anyways, don't tell him about this. Well, even if you did, I doubt it would go through his thick skull." Herrick was too much of a musclehead. However, Keith still didn't want to tell. For things like this, Herrick needed to walk through the process.
"Understood," The others nodded.
...
And Keith was right. Herrick really didn't understand the reason for the exercise!
"Grahh!" Herrick really wanted to punch the wall in anger. Before he could smack the wall, he stopped his movements. How could I lose like this?! He thought Keith was the only one stronger than him.
But he was wrong. Gabriel took him out so easily. That was something he never expected. However, he had to accept it. Gabriel did beat him without ever cheating.
Arlo, on the other hand, was an entirely different matter. He was way lower than him! This was what Alfia and the others thought as well. Yet he was defeated by him!
"Am I that weak?" Herrick couldn't help but believe it. His eyes were lifeless. He remembered that day.
...
Herrick was brought in front of his father. And his father stared down at him.
"I heard you were defeated by a human?"
"What?!" When that was said, the elders in the background gasped at this news! Herrick was considered a prodigy! He was the closest to becoming king. Yet this person had lost to a human!
"Did the human cheat?" "That's impossible."
Herrick's father didn't care about the conversation behind him as he continued, "I heard it was a fair fight between you two."
"...Yes."
"And you even went into your beast state to deal with him,"
"..." Herrick was silent. However, that silence meant it was a yes.
"Herrick, I order you to go to his island and live there from now on."
"!"
Herrick's father said nothing more as he left him there.
...
"Is this punishment for losing?" He was filled with frustration and doubt.
Herrick didn't know what to say about all of this. It was too damn hard to think about all of this! It was too hard.
