Volume 5 Chapter 23: Brick Hard
While Keith went on a rampage, Gabriel and the others were about to go on one of their own. It has been a few days since Keith headed to the dungeon. In those few days, things turned for the worst!
"Well, eat up." Jack smiled and placed something on the table for each of them.
"..." But the others, not so much. They tried their best to keep a straight face.
"...I did my best in the kitchen." Jack looked up to the ceiling. Why did I have to lose in rock paper scissors?! The residential cook was Keith. None of them wanted to get into the kitchen. To settle this, they decided who would cook with a game. And Jack was the loser.
"What happened to the bread?" Sarah noticed the bread her brother had brought out. It was burnt to a crisp. She tapped it on the table.
Brick hard. That was the only way to describe it. She could probably use it as a weapon!
"I tried to do what Keith does. But it turned out like this." From time to time, they saw how Keith cooked, and he tried his best to emulate that.
"I want to eat Keith's cooking," Sarah muttered. She really missed the delicious cakes he made. He would make small desserts for her and Carolyn.
"Now, now. There's no need to fight." Diana became a moderator.
"Yeah! You guys need to stop whining about it." Cadmus was calm. What came next was a loud crunch from his mouth. That bread was too hard. But this person had dragon teeth.
It always comes in handy when chewing through brick-hard bread.
"..." The others looked at him weirdly. There was no way he would say something like that! Who was this person?! This man complained for the first half-day about Keith leaving!

He had no room to talk!
"Just add a lot of condensed milk, and you're good," Cadmus explained. His bread overflowed with condensed milk. It was dripping down from the bread.
"I see." The others did just that! It was easier to eat if the whole thing was covered in sweetness!
"It really is different without him." They all sighed. Even if they did this, it didn't change the fact that Keith wasn't there.
"I definitely should have gone with him," Gabriel muttered.
"You evil man!" Jack pointed at him!
"How am I evil?" Gabriel tilted his head.
Carolyn added, "You went with Keith because you know there was food involved!" The other three nodded their heads!
Gabriel was playing five steps ahead of them.
"But I had to go with him. Out of everyone, I was the one best suited to pair up with Keith." Gabriel shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't try to play the fool!" This man was too slick with these things! The adults chuckled as they watched this. Nephele questioned,
"Where is Herrick?" Everyone was here besides Herrick.
"I think he's hanging out with Melor or something." Jack saw him leave.
"I see." Nephele thought, "Now that I think about it, why did Herrick join the island?" She was a little out of the loop. What she knew was that Gabriel and Arlo joined in the beginning, while Jack and Sarah joined because Keith had helped them.
Herrick was someone she didn't know about.
"..."
"Now that you said this, it is kind of strange." Carolyn thought, "Herrick should be treated better than anyone on his island." An island composed of only beastmen would probably...most definitely treat Herrick like a king.
So it was strange that he decided to join Keith's island.
"We don't know what Herrick is thinking." Diana shook her head. The only one who knew was Herrick himself.
"No, there should be someone else." Carolyn tilted her head at one Cadmus.
"Why are you looking at me, Carolyn?!" Cadmus kept a relaxed countenance.
"That's because you should know the reason," Carolyn stated. There was no way Cadmus wouldn't know. Changes like that would need the principal's permission.
"Carolyn, has anyone told you that you're too sharp." Cadmus sighed.
"Then you know."
"Yeah, but I'm not going to tell you." Cadmus grinned.
"..."
"Besides, Keith knows. So you guys don't need to know."
"Eh?" When did Keith know?
"Oh, that's good." Carolyn smiled. As long as Keith knew, then he would deal with it.
"But we need to think, is Herrick going to cause trouble outside?" Jack muttered. It was getting late. He shouldn't be getting into trouble, right?
"There's no way."
"...I don't think so." Herrick seemed like the type of person who would cause a lot of trouble. And when he said that,
"We have a situation!" Cadmus looked down at an orb, "What's the matter?"
"There was a fight between students!"
"..." Everyone in the room felt a dark premonition.
"Who was it?"
"It was student Herrick."
"..."
