Volume 6 Chapter 54: That's Why You Have To- Eh?
"You should keep your void magic as a trump card." Only a few people know about Keith being able to use void magic. More so, few people knew how to use void magic. It was rare.
"Blink is a powerful spell if you use it correctly." Play his cards right, and he could use it to get a drop on his opponent.
"Blink is a great spell for a one-on-one situation." Blink was an excellent spell. But it has drawbacks to it as well. It was helpful in a fight against one opponent as he could catch them off guard. But when there was more than one, it was slightly ineffective. Others could cover the weak points.
"What magic do you want to learn?"
"Gravity!" That was the one he wanted to learn.
"Gravity?" Cadmus's interest peaked when he heard, "Why do you want to learn that?"
"I saw it in action a few minutes ago. It would be perfect for the group."
"Group?"
"Mmhmm. Most of my abilities are on the offensive side. I need to learn some abilities to help support the team."
"..." Sohma and Cadmus glanced at one another. What Keith said made a lot of sense. Having a party member who could control the field was necessary. But,
"Are you the one who should do it?" It was Keith. Did he really need to learn for the group? Keith, himself, was a walking one-man army. Just having in the party would give the others power.
"But I think I might be the only one who could do it, too." Keith scratched his head. He was one of the only people who could use multiple elements, which meant he could do it.

"...Sure."
"Thanks a lot, Grandpa Cadmus!" Cadmus raised his hand, "But what do I get for teaching you?" There were no free lunches in this world.
"Hmm? How about a two-tier lunchbox?" Cadmus had been raving about that lunchbox like no tomorrow. He made a one-tier lunchbox for everyone. A two-tier should be fine?
"Make it three, and you have yourself a deal!" Cadmus grinned.
"I don't mind that." Keith was fine with the added work.
"Alright!" Cadmus cheered! A three-tier lunchbox is the best!
"Sohma, I'm going to use the private grounds. Can you deal with the paperwork?"
"....Understood," You're lucky Keith is the one asking you. This was supposed to be punishment for Cadmus playing hooky. However, he had to change it. Knowing Keith, the boy wasn't the type to ask for help. If it was a betterment for the student, he wouldn't mind something like that.
"Follow me, Keith." Like that, the two of them head to the new place. And Keith looked around,
"Where is this?" This was his first time in an area like this. It was a training area.
"This is a private training ground. Only a handful of people know about it, and a few could use it from that batch." Cadmus grinned, "In here, you can train all you want, and no one will hear."
"I see." Keith smacked his hands together.
"Now, you want to learn how to use gravity, right?
"Mmhmm," "Then this is going to be simple."
A grin formed, but Keith was the opposite. It was going to be simple?
"How?" "That's because you learned how to do it."
"I have?!" When did he have time to learn that?!
"Those gravity bracelets you always wear," Cadmus pointed at the ones Keith wore. Even now, he continued to wear them.
"One of the ways to learn magic is to feel it. Gravity magic is especially so. Try to remember the feeling when you wear those bracelets."
"I see." Keith started to remember the difficult times when he wore the bracelets. The heaviness he left. It was like a bunch of rocks on every part of his body.
"However, it's actually pretty difficult." Learning new magic wasn't a walk in the park. The first giant hurdle was getting used to the change of gravity. That was to get the feel. But there were more hurdles to come.
"That's why you have to- Eh?" Cadmu's eyes went blank as he stared at Keith. What he saw was the ground being indented. After a few minutes,
"I did it, Grandpa Cadmus!" Keith stopped using the magic and looked up at him.
