Volume 6 Chapter 14: Partnering Up
The following day, Alfia woke up. It is still like this. She was happy as she looked around. The room she had chosen was much smaller than the one on the elf island.
However, it was something she didn't care; this room was so much better! The other room felt like she lived in a different world than others. But she was now one of them. Alfia got out and headed for the bathroom. When she arrived, she spotted one more person there.
"Huh?" "It's you." Herrick glared at her, and the girl returned with one of her own. The two stared at one another. It was a look of annoyance coming from both of them.
If anyone else was there to watch this, they would have said sparks were flying!
"Hmpf!" "Heh," The two didn't look at one another as they entered the bathroom.
"What's the matter, Alfia?" Sarah noticed the expression she had.
"Just met some bad luck."
"I see," So she met with Herrick. There was no need to ask her who it was. Everyone on the island understood the two had a bad relationship.
"I hope the day turns out great," Alfia sighed as she brushed her teeth.
...
"Class, we're going to have a special lesson." Tennol stated with a grin, "I will split everyone into pairs."
"..." Again? The last one was still fresh in everyone's memories. That time, Herrick went berserk, and Keith beat him like a drum. It was an incident that couldn't be forgotten.
"I'll split you guys up." Ignoring the students' looks, Tennol started to split them up.
"Faelyn, who did you get?" Alfia looked at the number in her hand. 38. That meant she was paired up with 37.
"Princess, I got 5." Faelyn showed her number.

"Who got 38?!" Someone called out.
"...." No. Alfia turned over to see Herrick looking around. And the beastman locked eyes with her. One glance was enough. The two understood what happened as they screamed,
"Why did I have to be paired up with you?!" Out of all the people they could pair up with, they had to pair up with one another. This had to be a joke!
"Who am I partnering up with?" Ignoring the craziness on the side, Keith looked around for his partner. His number was 13.
"Guess I'm partnering up with you," Scarlet walked over to Keith. She was 14.
"This will be the second time we pair up." The last time was with Krystal.
"This time, we're not fighting with one another." Keith reminded. He had to spar with those two tigresses, and he almost died.
"By the way, shouldn't you step in for that?"
"Hmm?" Keith turned his head and waved, "There's no need to worry about it. Let them sort it out themselves."
"..."
After the students found their partners, Tennol gave the assignment, "Today, you guys will be fighting against a golem!!" And a giant golem spawned from the ground. It was gigantic.
"..." We're going to fight that? Everyone gulped as they gazed at that giant wall of stone.
"Alright! One and two, come on up!" Tennol called out. And when they did,
"Ahh!" Instakill. The golem sent those students flying into the bleachers. Some instructors came and caught them. It seemed they were on catching duty.
"..." We're not going to die, right? To send students flying like a pebble was insane!
"Okay! Next up!" Tennol was unfazed as he continued with the others. And when that happened, more students went flying.
"How do you think we should go with this?" Keith asked Scarlet. The two needed a strategy to deal with the golem.
"The most effective strategy is to have you distract it while I chant and fire magic to destroy it." Golems were weak to magic. However, she needed to use mid-level magic for a golem of that size.
"Alright. I'll draw its attention. I should be able to take a couple of hits." Keith smiled. While he strategized, the later pairs did the same. As more teams went up, they analyzed the golem's movements.
How are they doing? One particular caught Keith's eyes.
"Do whatever you want. I got at it my way!" Herrick and Alfia were still arguing with one another. Those two. Keith sighed. It was a cat and a dog. Wait, maybe a lion and eagle? They were too deadly to be called a cat and dog.
"Those two need to get their act together," Gabriel sighed.
"What do you expect? It's those two." Carolyn shook her head. Herrick and Alfia were fire and water.
"They're going to have to for this," Anyone could tell what this assignment was about.
"Next team up!" Tennol called out.
"We're going now." Keith smiled. They were the next group.
