CHAPTER 954 STUPID MOVE
There was an air of pride and fearlessness around the eighteen Governors as they flew.
"It's an honor to finally meet you, Barnes the Holy. Also, I would gladly fight by your side in the
incoming battle."
"Sir, your name has been known to us since childhood, and everyone here has grown up looking up to
you. It's a great honor to meet you today."
The Governors eagerly fawned over Barnes.
They had finally arrived to the northern part of the eighteen cities after flying nonstop for three days and
nights. This was an area that they hadn't explored yet. Looking around now, there was nothing but
grass and mist.
"Sir, where is the fiend hiding? Let's all work together and tear it to pieces!"
They all had stopped whatever they were doing to assist Barnes in his search for the fiend.
"Don't worry, everyone. The fiend is just hidden around here. I shall go and investigate first," Barnes
said.
"Very well, sir. We'll wait for you here. Just call for us if you ever find the fiend. We'll come to your aid
as fast as we can. Be careful," one of the Governors said boldly.
"Thank you very much for your offer. I shall make amends for my fault if I can find the fiend. Those four
brats won't be able to bite me like mad dogs anymore." Barnes grinned, showing a set of very white
teeth.
"Those four guys are too arrogant just because they consider themselves as the greatest warriors of
human race. I can't stand them either," someone responded, laughing.
"I shall go now, everyone. Goodbye."
Turning into a shadow, Barnes crossed over to the desolate grassland.
After flying for over thirty thousand kilometers, he finally decided to land. A cold smile found its way
onto his face.
"Master, those humans are here. Have you arranged the Blood Refining Array?" There was no one
there with Barnes, so it looked like he was talking to himself.
Dark fog rose from the wilderness. It swirled and curled into the air, bringing with it a mix of the fiend's
aura. It was as if a legion of fiends were headed this way.
A short moment later, the smoke turned into a horned-creature with blood-colored scales.
His eyes were icy cold and his aura was void of any feelings. It was as if he was dead and had turned
into something metal.
He raised his hand and black fiendish aura flowed down to his pointed fingertips. A big tripod with an
engraved beast head landed in front of the creature. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Dark fire burned brightly at the bottom of the tripod and thick, black smoke curled upwards from it.
Around it, the air seemed to be boiling.
Barnes was overjoyed to see this. The Blood Refining Array had now been set up. Those humans
wouldn't stand a chance against him. If this plan worked, this ritual would improve his master's
strength, and his master would help him transform into living creature. He would then be free to live in
this world.
This so-called Barnes was simply just a drop of the real Barnes' blood essence acquired by the first
fiend ancestor. It was the fiend's creation.
The original Barnes was so powerful that even his blood essence was strong. The fake one also looked
so real that even his emotions and actions could mimic the real Barnes.
"Lure them here," the blood-red creature ordered.
"Yes, master." But just as he was about to turn around, he said, "Don't forget. After we're done here,
you'll turn me into a real living creature."
Instead of a response, he was met with a ferocious fiendish aura.
The fake Barnes dared not say anything else.
He went ahead and flew towards the humans.
On the other side, the eighteen Governors all sat on the ground to meditate upon their cultivation.
They were interrupted when four powerful auras landed in front of them and turned into four figures.
"What are you doing here? What happened?"
Francis asked, who was also known as the Dragon Holy Warrior and the leader of the four greatest
holy warriors.
One of the Governors, Ronald, opened his eyes and answered calmly, "We don't have to answer to
you. You're not the one in charge of us."
"You pompous bastard.
Didn't you even realize that you were talking to the fiend just now? We had a feeling that fiend had
simply lured you here. You must hurry up and leave now," Eden said.
"That's funny." Ronald laughed and stood up. "If the fiend was here, how come we didn't know?
Besides, if the fiend really lured us here, why can't you just kill him then? You four have mastered the
Heavenly Exterminating Array, and yet you ask us to run away with you. Why not kill him? What are
you waiting for?"
Everyone uttered their agreements upon hearing Ronald's words.
They were all thinking the same thing. Why not kill the fiend if he was really here?
The four holy warriors weren't pleased with the Governors' attitude. But before they could say anything
else, Ronald continued, "As you must probably know, we are working with Barnes the Holy to stop the
fiend. Now you lie to us, so that we'll leave and the fiend will get away. Such a preposterous plan!
You four just want the fame all to yourselves. You don't deserve to be called holy warriors. Shame on
you!"
This speech was enough to sway the other Governors against the four holy warriors. Even their biggest
supporters seemed to agree to this.
In their eyes, the four holy warriors seemed to be hiding something. Why wouldn't they face the fiend
themselves? After all, they were extremely strong and they had already mastered very powerful
methods. It was strange to think that two of the fiend's body parts could have escaped the forbidden
areas if the four holy warriors were already present.
"Don't be stupid!"
Francis shouted angrily.
"The four of us are loyal to Hiram the great and the witcher ancestor. We protect the human race with
all our might. How dare you accuse us of being careless? You slander us with your sinister doubts. Do
you really think that you're that important that we won't kill you ourselves?"
The atmosphere between the two groups became tensed as everyone was prepared for the inevitable
fight to break out.
As they were all talking, Barnes had already arrived and had released his fiendish sense to watch the
scene unfold.
'Stupid humans! I definitely had them fooled.' The fake Barnes smiled.
However, he now faced a dilemma. If the four powerful humans were here, he couldn't lure the rest of
them to the designated place.
He knew that he wouldn't stand a chance against the combined efforts of the four holy warriors. Just
thinking about the trouble he was in was giving him a headache.
However, he had to fulfill the task his master had given him. If he gave up now, he would be assimilated
by his master and he wouldn't have a chance to live freely.
He hid and observed the two groups, hoping that the four greatest holy warriors would leave eventually.
Meanwhile, the humans continued with their squabble.
"Sir! So now you threaten us with death. By that, you are already betraying the human race. Don't
blame us for being ruthless," another Governor said.
"Now, you will know that we, eighteen Governors, are not weak. You have betrayed the human race, so
now we shall use the Betrayal Suppressing Token from the witcher ancestor to eliminate all of you!"
Indeed, the Governors not only held high statuses in the cities, but they also had some special abilities
that were passed down to them. These abilities were to be used to ensure the safety of the human race
and prevent acts of betrayal against them.
