CHAPTER 897 A DEAL FULFILLED
Chaz made his way out of the yard after Luther. There were preparations to be made before entering
the eighteen cities.
Darren returned to his room and went through the scroll Chandler gave him. His eyes scanned over the
various details intently.
"The eighteen cities seem to have many powerful forces."
The extent of this power was a shock to Darren. The scroll described tens of thousands of forces of
varying sizes within the eighteen cities. The weakest forces were guarded by senior holy warriors. Their
power was truly immense.
The eighteen cities were governed by the eighteen most powerful forces. Every city's size was about
as big as a small world.
The heads of these forces were as strong as a half-step emperor at the top level. Without a doubt, their
strength was not to be messed with.
Besides, there were also some invisible forces lurking about in the dark.
'The Chaotic Blade Restaurant specializes in training mercenaries who have the ability to use the
Shadow Rule.
There are not many people in the Ice Land, but they are not to be underestimated. Within their ranks is
someone who could kill a half-step emperor at the top level in a heartbeat.'
Darren read through the cities one by one, taking in every detail. He found that a great number of
masters resided within them. A smirk started to rise up on his face.
"Looks like a visit to this place would be worth our while." Darren put away the scroll with his smirk
remaining. An air of excitement filled the room.
In the forbidden area around the Hiram the Great's mighty halberd, several teams of law enforcers
were patrolling around, covering one hundred square kilometers. Overseeing them were several senior
holy warriors.
"Any strange activity to report?"
inquired one of the law enforcers. He was an inferior holy warrior at the peak.
"Captain, the surroundings have been peaceful. Nothing to report," replied his subordinate.
"Good. Keep your eyes open for any unusual activity and report it to me if anything goes wrong."
"Yes, sir." The subordinate then continued his patrol, as commanded.
In the middle of the forbidden area, stood a black monkey under the halberd of Hiram the Great.
In front of him, lay an arm drenched in blood. A dark red aura seemed to be flowing out of the arm.
"Say, why don't you put that weapon away?"
whispered a cold and sinister voice into the black monkey's ears. It was coming from the arm.
The monkey hopped onto the halberd and peered at the view below. "Patience. You only dispelled one
tenth of the suppressing force in my body. It's too soon for you to come out."
"You were the one who promised assistance in releasing my three body parts. Don't you want to regain
all of your strength, already? You know this is the only way,"
echoed the sinister voice.
"I'm not stupid. Once you get those three body parts, you'll kill me in a blink of an eye.
Now, cut the crap. I want you to release your fiend power and free my body from the suppressing force.
The number of body parts I can release for you depends on how much strength I can regain."
The bloody arm fell silent. The deal had been going on for a while now, but neither party was satisfied.
Not wasting any time, the red fiendish aura flew out of the arm and into the black monkey's body.
He winced in pain as the aura entered his body. His eyes grew dark as the fiendish aura started to
engulf him.
"Amazing!" The black monkey could feel the suppressing force weakening within him.
"Release my body parts!" hissed the sinister voice.
"This is not enough power." The black monkey mockingly stretched a finger and shook it at the bloody
arm.
"Your greed disgusts me!" Pure hatred filled the voice's scream.
"You'd better calm down. Careful with that temper, or the humans will come and take you down. What
of our deal if that happens?" the black monkey warned, his eyes glinting mischievously as he spoke.
The voice relented. His hatred of the monkey swayed for the meantime.
"Alright, how much strength do you want to recover?"
"At least thirty percent," said the monkey.
"That's way too much. If you keep this greed up, I'll just have to find another way to release my body
parts. Good luck regaining your strength without me."
The first fiend ancestor had grown completely spiteful of the greedy monkey.
'In my current state, my strength amounts to a human of five-tribulation junior holy warrior at the top
level. This is far from enough. If I could just hit six-tribulation senior holy warrior strength, then I could
defeat anyone below a holy emperor rank. I could even destroy this arm!' pondered the black monkey,
Barnes.
Even Barnes knew it was hard for him to defeat just two body parts of the first fiend ancestor even if he
was equipped with the strength of a six-tribulation senior holy warrior. At most, they would hit a tie. The
way he was now, the fiend was uncontrollable. It was with his better judgment that he decided not to
release the fiend's body parts easily.
"If I could just get my full strength back, fighting six of his body parts would be easy. Unfortunately, this
small amount of strength is all I can get for now.
Speaking of which, how did Hiram manage to defeat him?"
Barnes muttered. If the fiend had combined all eight of his body parts and recovered to full strength,
even a top level ancient holy emperor would be no match. Despite this, it was torn into eight pieces by
Hiram. This didn't make any sense.
"I'll help you get one percent more of your strength, and in turn you will release one of my eight body
parts. Take it or leave it. If you refuse, the deal is off," the fiendish voice bellowed. Its tone was dead
serious.
"Deal." Barnes didn't dare bargain with the fiend at this point. He could tell by its tone that it had lost all
its patience with him.
Currently, his strength was at the top level of the five-tribulation junior holy warrior. Just a bit more
strength, and he would reach six-tribulation senior holy warrior level strength. This was enough for him
to fight off the fiend's arm, at least.
Boom!
The earth let out a great rumble, and a billowing fiendish aura engulfed Barnes.
After the fiendish aura entered his body, a pale golden light flashed from within Barnes to resist it.
Slowly, the light began to weaken.
Once the golden light was snuffed out, the evil aura within Barnes grew in strength. Barnes's aura had
reached a breaking point. His black hair stood in a terrifying, demonic manner. The rule force shone on
every part of his body, exuding pure evil.
Back at the patrolling area, a dreadful force washed over the land. The law enforcers who sensed this
began to panic. Several senior holy warriors stepped in with their spiritual senses to try and figure out
the source, to no avail.
"Shall we report this to Chandler?" one of the senior holy warriors asked.
"No need. I'll check it out myself," said another senior holy warrior. He wanted to have some
information on the situation before he reported to Chandler, at least.
"Wait, you can't! If the fiend that released that dreadful aura assimilates you, he will lash out. We'd
better ask Chandler to come along."
"You're right. Let's go report this to him." They made haste in sending Chandler a message.
Chandler arrived right away, but by the time he had gotten there the fiendish aura had dissipated.
"What happened?"
"Sir, there was a rumble in the forbidden area just now and a fiendish aura washed over. We were
worried of what could happen, and so we decided to call you to inspect it with us."
Chandler listened while nodding slowly with a dark look on his face. He had an idea of what this could
have been.
After a moment of silence, he took out a mysterious pill from a summoned spatial treasure and gulped
it down.
His eyes suddenly flashed with light. He could see through the black fog in the area, and his gaze This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
zoomed in on the area around the halberd of Hiram the Great.
What he saw made him tremble with fear. A cold sweat ran over him.
Within his vision was a monstrous black monkey. His sharp teeth shown, and there was a surge of a
ferocious aura. More importantly, the monkey was trying to dislodge the halberd of Hiram the Great.
A sizzling crack of electricity could be heard.
The black monkey then sensed that someone was watching him.
Chandler immediately averted his gaze, as not to be noticed. His heart began to race, but he had to
look calm in front of the warriors.
"Sir, did you find anything unusual? The source, perhaps?"
"None of the sort. All areas are clear. Continue your patrol here, and do not summon me unless it's
important." Chandler gulped after he said this. He could not let them know that a terrible threat was
nearby.
Chandler then left with great haste.
