CHAPTER 573 SHADOW OF THE SACRED ENVOY
"Who are you? Why are you following me?" Darren asked sternly.
However, considering the being that had appeared in front of him was a human being, Darren didn't
launch an immediate attack.
"Good. I can see you're very vigilant. I'm a Sacred Envoy from the Sacred Palace. You can call me your
excellency," the old man that had materialized from the runes said arrogantly.
"I don't know what the Sacred Palace is." Darren was dissatisfied with the old man due to his
arrogance.
"Well well well, what an arrogant boy! Even with your current power, you've never heard of the Sacred
Palace?" The old man turned defensive.
"Does it really matter if I know the Sacred Palace or not? You called me arrogant. I don't even know
you. And now you want me to call you your excellency. Not only that, but you're just a shadow, not a
real human, aren't you?" Darren bombarded the old man with questions, making him confused.
The old man stayed speechless for a while, then burst out laughing. "Ha ha, good boy. It was me who
was too bold. I'm sorry."
"Now tell me, why are you here?" Darren asked.
"I think you know better than anyone that the space passage has been sealed. When this happened,
the entire Sacred Palace was shocked. They thought the human race in the Bottom Spiritual World was
in danger. Fortunately, even though you made a mistake, you took the responsibility and saved the
human race." The old man looked at Darren meaningfully.
"I don't think I've made any mistakes," Darren told the old man.
"Well," the old man coughed and said, "let's discuss that later. The most important thing right now is the
king of the fiendish mutants. He is our biggest enemy. If he is completely awake and there's no one to
stop him, we'll all be doomed."
"I know that the so-called king of the fiendish mutants is very powerful. Since you're the envoy of the
Sacred Palace, you must be very strong, right? Why don't you do something to stop him?" Darren
asked.
"No, I can't do that. It's hard enough for me to even form a shadow here with the rule power, let alone
fight against the king of the fiendish mutants. Since you are one of the two strongest warriors in the
Bottom Spiritual World at present, the Sacred Palace is ordering you to do your best to stop it," the old
man declared. His voice slipped back into a condescending tone unconsciously.
Darren wasn't happy with the old man's words. The old man's arrogance angered him.
But he knew there was no need to be so serious with a shadow that materialized from the rule power.
"You don't have to tell me that. Even without you ordering me to do it, I plan to do it," Darren answered
with disdain.
"Here is a Soul Exploding Rune, take it. If you need to, you can use it to blow up your soul. Once your
soul explodes, you can hit the target with a power that's three thousand times stronger than your
current strength," the old man said handing Darren a card.
"Are you kidding? How can I live if I use this rune to blow up my soul?" Although he accepted the card,
Darren's face darkened.
"So what if you die? Your life is a small price to pay to protect this whole world. You should be willing to
die to protect it," the old man said flatly.
Swish!
Darren hacked the old man's shadow with his sword without saying a word.
While he knew it was just a shadow not the real man, he needed to vent his anger.
"You've gone too far, old man. My life may mean nothing to you, but it means everything to me,"
Darren shouted, drawing back his sword.
The old man's face contorted in anger. "Do you know what the so-called king is after? Once it wakes
up, the king of the fiendish mutants might go directly to the forbidden areas of the Holy Lands. We
know everything you've experienced in the Bottom Spiritual World. You should know the consequences
of opening those forbidden areas.
Don't you? Aren't you the one who provoked Eddy and caused all this trouble? Shouldn't you take
responsibility?" the old man roared.
Darren's face turned to stone. "Since you know what happened, why do you still blame me? Is this how
the Sacred Palace operates? Eddy has committed innumerable crimes, and he even captured my
sister. Why don't you punish him? What constitutes truth and justice in your eyes? Go away, I don't
want to talk to you anymore."
"How dare you..."
The old man's face contorted in anger.
"If it were my real body here instead of my shadow, you would have already been killed by now, you
bastard!" the old man growled.
"Fuck off!" Darren answered simply. Then he flew away from the place.
The old man's rage made the runes on his face flicker as his shadow disappeared into the sea.
In the magnificent palace of the Medium Spiritual World
"How did it go? What did the boy say?" an extravagantly dressed middle-aged man asked.
"Damn it! That boy is too arrogant. He didn't listen to me at all, but drew his sword to attack me. Damn
it!"
The old man who'd just had the talk with Darren was so angry that he broke all the teacups and plates
on the table.
"Tell me exactly what happened," the middle-aged man urged.
The old man repeated the conversation he'd had with Darren.
Bam!
The middle-aged man pounded the table beside him and suddenly stood up. Belongs © to .
"What's wrong with you? How could you be so stupid? We're asking for his help, not commanding him!
Don't you realize that?"
"Is... Is... Is it my fault?"
the old man stammered. He was surprised by the middle-aged man's reaction.
"If it isn't your fault, is it mine then?" the middle-aged man roared.
"Don't be mad at me. You can figure it out on your own then. I won't stay here anymore," the old man
sneered.
"How dare you!"
Suddenly, the middle-aged man disappeared.
As suddenly as he disappeared, he appeared in front of the old man and punched him.
Taken aback by the surprise attack, the old man formed a golden shield that made of the rule power in
front of him instantly.
Bang!
The rule power shield was smashed into pieces. The old man staggered back a few steps, blood
flowing down the corner of his mouth.
"Do you think that you can do whatever you want just because you've mastered a few inferior true
rules?" the middle-aged man asked coldly.
The old man's mouth kept twitching. After a long while, he bowed his head and said, "I'm sorry. It was
my fault, sir."
"Go apologize to Darren right now, and explain to him the seriousness of the matter. Don't be arrogant
or impolite to him again," the middle-aged man ordered.
"Yes, sir," the old man replied in a low voice.
"Sorry, I was too apprehensive just now. I'm not really blaming you. But you have to realize that he is in
the lower world, and you just communicated with him using a shadow that has no rule power. You can't
scare him, so, why would he respect you?
You have to persuade him nicely. If we can stop the fiendish mutants, both of us will have made a great
contribution. Otherwise, the consequences will be unimaginable.
As for the boy's sins, if he remains alive, I will be the one to either reward or punish him. Am I
understood?"
The middle-aged man's voice softened.
"I will try to talk to Darren again in three days. I'm leaving now, sir." With that, the old man left his face
still full of anger.
In the Bottom Spiritual World
Darren's Spirit Power had recovered. So he decided to go to the so-called forbidden area on the island
again.
He flew to the island and activated the Air-integrated True Rule.
However, when he approached the forbidden area, he found that all the black mutants had
disappeared.
He scoured the area meticulously and found something extraordinary.
All the black mutants on the island had died.
Their corpses were piled up in the hall.
'What happened here?' Darren was bewildered.
