CHAPTER 1288 ITCHY TOXIN
The Blue Flower Demon pulled Darren closer and intended to bite his head off.
He could already imagine the happiness he would feel when he tasted the delicious flavor of fresh
meat.
Boom!
A beam of black light accompanied by infinite sword intent soared into the sky.
A breath later, the vines binding Darren exploded.
"Damn it!"
the Blue Flower Demon muttered as astonishment coursed through him. Unwilling to let his prey
escape, he quickly gathered his vines to attack Darren again.
However, Darren had already planned his attack. In an instant, his body flashed and appeared in front
of the Blue Flower Demon.
A sword strike! And a blade strike!
His sword and blade attacks rushed forward in tandem and besieged the Blue Flower Demon from two
directions.
"You are too naive, stupid human!"
Just as Darren's sword and blade ambush neared their target, the Blue Flower Demon calmed down
and became fearless.
Shoop! Shoop! Shoop!
Several tentacles popped out from the Blue Flower Demon's pistil and instantly enveloped himself.
When Darren's sword and blade attack fell on this shield made of tentacles, they only cut several
inches deep. The Blue Flower Demon himself was unharmed.
"Gosh!" Darren's eyes widened with shock. He hadn't expected the demon to have such a strong
defense.
The instinctive urge to flee surged within Darren, but he stood his ground. He knew that once he moved
away from the Blue Flower Demon, the demon would feel safe enough to release his vines and
mobilize them to capture him.
If that happened, the demon would not fall for Darren's tricks, and he would eat him instead.
"Master Murphy, hurry up! Break the shackles and help me kill this creature!" holds text © rights.
Darren could not think of any other method with which to wake his companion. Murphy was injured,
and he hoped that Murphy's mind would awaken when he shouted through his spiritual voice.
In a semi-comatose state, Murphy sobered up when Darren's spiritual voice hit his soul.
As soon as he returned to his senses, he felt severe itching all over his body again. It was so
unbearable that he gritted his teeth to the point where he felt they would break.
"Howl!"
Murphy roared like a beast as tremendous sword intent poured out from every pore in his body.
Although it sliced through his flesh, the sword intent also tore through the vines that had imprisoned
him.
"Go to hell!"
Murphy emitted such an intense aura at this point that Darren felt as though he was enveloped in
infinite darkness. Never before had he seen Murphy this cruel and fierce!
Bang!
The intense sword intent that had condensed into a hundred thousand swords instantly fell on the Blue
Flower Demon.
"No!"
The Blue Flower Demon's tentacles were severed and then the whole flower was cut into pieces.
Darren breathed a sigh of relief as his plan had worked. As he had recently used all his strength to
break through the shackles, he was very weak.
And that was true for Murphy as well. Since his sword intent had sliced through his flesh, he was
injured and exhausted. Without his strength, Murphy was unable to heal himself.
Both fell on the grassland and lay feebly as they tried to catch their breath.
"Are you all right, Master Murphy?"
"Oh, I'm very comfortable."
Since laws controlled the Blue Flower Demon's toxin, the laws dissipated after the demon's death and
the toxin vanished. Therefore, the severe itching settled, and Murphy felt comfortable even though his
entire body was broken.
Darren recovered a little. He hurriedly transferred his god's power to Murphy to repair his injured body
and stimulate his healing abilities.
After several hours, they had somewhat recovered.
"Master Murphy, how are you now?"
But Murphy sat cross-legged and didn't answer Darren's question.
"Master Murphy?"
Darren prompted as his heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Murphy still suffered from some
aftereffect of the toxin?
"Darren, don't disturb me. I am comprehending something,"
Murphy replied flatly. Then, his spiritual sense quieted down.
It was not until then that Darren finally felt relieved.
"What's that?"
When Darren glanced around, he spotted a crystal that shone with blue light where the Blue Flower
Demon had died.
Out of curiosity, he flew over to investigate it.
"Divine pattern!"
He recognized it immediately. The crystal with the blue light was a natural divine pattern.
"A level-seven divine pattern!"
Darren exclaimed. The basic knowledge of divine patterns he had acquired allowed him to determine
its level.
A level-seven divine pattern was very rare in the world.
Darren immediately drew it into his hand.
"Judging by its aura, this is a dark divine pattern,"
he muttered as he studied it. Divine patterns could be divided into twelve series. One person could only
merge up to two series of divine patterns in their lifetime. Darren knew this.
He had previously merged two bladeless divine patterns which belonged to the penetrating series, into
his meridians. Now, he could only combine one more series of divine patterns.
"How can I not be tempted by this opportunity to assimilate a level-seven divine pattern?"
Excitement gleamed in Darren's eyes as he tried to anticipate the effect of the dark divine pattern once
he merged it.
He held the divine pattern in his hand, extracted some of his blood essence, and dripped it on the
crystal. The crystal with the blue light immediately melted and integrated with his meridians.
"What's the effect of this divine pattern?" Darren could feel that his skills hadn't improved after the
integration of the divine pattern.
"Let me wait and see. I'll ask Master Murphy when he wakes." Instead of worrying or overthinking,
Darren decided to cultivate. He knew that he could always test his new power when Murphy finished
his cultivation.
A few days later, Murphy opened his eyes.
Sword intent rushed out from every pore of his body, but this time, the damage to his body was less
than before.
"Ha-ha, I made it! My enhanced sword intent is fantastic!" Murphy grinned with delight.
"Master Murphy, you have broken through?" Darren woke from his meditation when he heard Murphy.
"In essence, yes. My sword intent is at a higher level. Together with my cultivation stage at the peak of
the low-level of the Celestial God Realm, I might be able to contend with a warrior at the middle-level of
the Celestial God Realm!"
"Congratulations, Master Murphy!" Darren's eyes glimmered with excitement. He knew that such a
breakthrough was no ordinary feat.
Murphy nodded slightly. "We can't waste any more time. Freda is still their captive, and we have to
rescue her."
"Yes, I agree. By the way, after the Blue Flower Demon died, he left a level-seven divine pattern.
Although I merged it, I'm not sure how it works," Darren added when he recalled that he hadn't
discovered the effects of the divine pattern.
"Really?" Mischief shone in Murphy's eyes. Not only was he excited as a level-seven divine pattern was
priceless, but he was curious as well. "Try attacking me," he offered.
"Okay."
Darren drew his sword and lunged at Murphy.
Clang!
Murphy lifted his palm so that Darren could target it. But, as soon as the sword touched him, Murphy
drew back.
"Boy, your sword intent is powerful enough to penetrate my skin," Murphy sighed.
"That's not bad. Ha-ha! Master Murphy, have you figured out the effect of the divine pattern?" Darren
asked eagerly. He couldn't contain his curiosity anymore.
"Yes, I have." As he spoke, Murphy lifted his sword and drew a few deep lines on his palm. Brilliant red
drops oozed from the cuts. Before Darren could object, Murphy removed the flesh on his palm that had
touched the sword.
Such an action astonished Darren.
"It's too itchy. I don't want to suffer this kind of pain again." Murphy shuddered visibly as he recalled the
agony he felt when the Blue Flower Demon's toxin had overwhelmed his senses earlier.
"Do you mean the effect of my new divine pattern contains the itchy toxin?"
"Yes, it's the same as the Blue Flower Demon's toxin, just weaker."
"Ha-ha, great!" Darren was delighted. Now, when he encountered an enemy and wounded them, the
enemy would suffer severe and unbearable itching that would reduce their combat capacity
significantly.
Since he had experienced it, Darren knew that others would be unable to handle it as well.
"Let's go, Master Murphy. We need to find information about Miss Freda's whereabouts."
After that, Darren and Murphy began walking. Soon, they left the purple forest.
The two saw a castle in the distance, which they recognized to be the Gambling King's residence.
"We need to be careful. After we sneak in, we'll look for a chance," Murphy cautioned. He was much
calmer now.
"I understand," Darren replied.
Then, they concealed themselves and headed toward the castle.
