CHAPTER 883 THE PREPARATION (PART TWO)
Bang!
As he had anticipated, a blow thudded against his halberd and it clattered to the ground. The Misty
Emperor was standing a few feet away and was lowering his hands. He had knocked down the
weapon, thinking that the black-armored man would hinder his deed by hurting Darren. "You're getting
more and more presumptuous every day. How dare you make a move without my order!" he roared.
"Yes, master. I promise I won't do that again!" The man in black armor cowered on the ground, begging
on his knees.
At this moment, Darren silently appreciated the actions of the black-armored man. He was trying to
distract the Misty Emperor so that he didn't have time to question Darren's purpose. So as a result, the
Misty Emperor's mind turned to who those map carriers might be.
"Who are the ten people?" he asked impatiently.
Fortunately, he had fallen for Darren's simple lies.
With faked effort, Darren stood up, leaned against the wall, and murmured the names one by one.
"You idiot! How am I supposed to know who they are by just names?" the Misty Emperor shouted,
collecting Darren's collar in his fists. "Condense the pictures of their faces so I can see them!"
When the Misty Emperor stared at him with a flustered look in his eyes, Darren felt a wave of relief
wash over him.
"I'm sorry. My head aches, and I can't gather enough energy to condense their appearances."
Clutching the wall, Darren forced small tears out of his eyes.
Witnessing his helplessness, the Misty Emperor felt the urge to sweep Darren's head off in an attempt
to release his overwhelming fury. However, doing so would destroy his whole purpose. So, after cooling
off a little, he began releasing some more repair force to amend Darren's soul.
Just like the time before, as soon as the repair force rushed into Darren's mind, the strange stone
inside him activated and absorbed the force. It was as if he was being fed a well-earned meal. He
found the process fulfilling and comfortable.
After some time, he felt so much better that he figured he should stop being spoiled. Stopping his
wailing, he looked around with a newfound vigor.
Once he figured he had given Darren enough time to heal, the Misty Emperor once again urged him to
show their faces. Albeit reluctantly, Darren condensed out the faces of Scott, Hanson, Mathew, and
others and presented them to the Misty Emperor.
"This is only five of them. Where are the others?"
In a wrath, the Misty Emperor flung Darren into the air.
As he collided with the ground, Darren felt a sharp pain shoot through his chest. Hatred surged through
his mind as he looked up at the Misty Emperor.
"Bring them to me," the Misty Emperor howled.
"Yes, sir!"
The black-armored man flew off at once, and before the Misty Emperor could even huff out a sigh, he
had returned with Darren's chained and weary companions.
They lined up in a row and the Misty Emperor glanced coldly at them. "Now, you five stay here and
endure the pain until I see the rest of you," he spat harshly.
He then released several strands of soul attacks and shot them into their heads.

that they all let out screams and cries and shriveled into tiny balls.
Fury rocked Darren's body but he had to go along with his lies. He threw himself onto the ground and
flashed pain across his face every so often.
Feeling satisfied, the Misty Emperor summoned the black-armored man, and together, they flew off to
capture the remaining five people.
The Misty Emperor had no idea that those men were only visions that Darren had showed him in order
to buy some time. They didn't really exist at all.
But judging from the mightiness of the Misty Emperor, it would not be long before he discovered the lie
and exploded from the pure fury.
"We must leave as soon as possible." Darren sprang up from the ground and looked down at his
companions who were still writhing in pain.
After thinking for a while, Darren made a decision.
First, he went to tend to Scott.
"Scott, don't hold back your pain anymore." He leaned down over him and uneasiness swept to his
extremities.
Unable to even make a sound, Scott turned his head. Now Darren could see clearly his face. It was
swollen and covered in blood. The attack had pushed him to his very limit.
"I'm sorry, Scott. This is going to hurt just a bit more."
When he had finished apologizing, Darren raised his hand and slapped it heavily on Scott's head.
As planned, the new trauma added to the initial pain caused Scott to pass out.
Darren immediately reached down and placed a palm on Scott's chest. A relieved sigh pushed through
his lips when he felt that he was still breathing. The process was going to be risky for Darren. If just
once he were to use too much strength with his blow, he would kill one of his companions.
"I'm so glad this is working. It's nearly impossible for one to pass out under the torture of the soul
attack. Now being unconscious, he will no longer feel any pain," Darren said, wiping his sweat with the
back of his hand.
Presently, Scott was lying unconscious, with only a breath of life left.
Then Darren walked to the others and beat them with the same force he had used on Scott. After they
had all passed out, he concentrated his spiritual sense and put them all in his Space Ring.
This way, Darren would not have any scruples. Now all there was left to do was wait for the return of
the black-armored man who had arranged the escape route that would lead them to their final escape.
