CHAPTER 950 PLEASE HELP ME
A flood of enormous true ice intent was hurled at Darren.
Darren swallowed a drop of the holy emperor's power. He could feel a surge of strength run through
him, but the true ice intent was starting to freeze his power.
The Water Spirit's true ice intent was so effective that it could even freeze a half-step emperor.
Darren howled in desperation.
In an instant, he transformed himself into a dragon and used his Shura Force to retreat.
He was fortunate that the true ice intent had only grazed him. This gave him ample time to climb to the
peak of the half-step emperor level before it could have frozen him entirely.
Sensing Darren's horrifying aura, the Water Spirit shrieked in fear.
She then turned into a blue shadow, camouflaging herself in the icy plain.
With that, she was able to escape.
Darren spread out his spiritual sense to search for traces of the Water Spirit. This was his only chance
to defeat her because the next time they met, the Water Spirit would surely take extra precautions,
making her harder to kill.
He knew he had limited time left before his cultivation level would go back to normal. He couldn't waste
any more time.
He flew through the air as fast he could.
The ice plain was rushing below him like a blur, and with all his strength, he began smashing through it.
He didn't stop until the entire plain was destroyed. And yet, there were still no signs of the Water Spirit.
The only note-worthy thing he discovered was a black ice that wouldn't break even when he used his
strength on it.
He decided to come closer without hesitation.
"I don't have any plans on killing you, so you can come out now. Just let me pass and I'll leave you
alone," Darren called out.
Beneath the black ice's surface, a soft blue light glowed. Then she spoke. "This is the Absolutely Cold
Pool. You can't break it even if your power has increased. No one can get me from here. And, if I'm not
sensing it wrong, your strength won't last long, right?"
After recovering from her initial panic, the Water Spirit was able to think clearly now.
Upon hearing this, Darren knew that his secret was finally revealed. If he couldn't get to her now, then
he would get into deep trouble.
He began banging against the black ice with all his might.
He was going all out because this was now or never.
With each hit, the world shook. Ice rained down as the entire area threatened to collapse under the
strain. But the black ice didn't show any signs of breaking. It remained intact.
Suddenly, Darren heard a whimper.
That soft cry of pain gave him hope, renewing his vigor.
It appeared that his power could pass through the black ice even though he couldn't break it directly.
The impact was enough to rattle the Water Spirit who was hiding inside it.
"If you don't come out, I'll have to shock you to death," Darren roared, raining down more attacks on
the black ice.
Sometime later, his powers dwindled back to normal.
At that moment, a blue icy fog hissed out of the black ice and it slowly formed into a shape of a girl.
The girl was extremely beautiful despite the blood running at the corner of her mouth. Her pale skin
shone like moonlight.
"I can see that you're hurt badly," Darren said calmly.
His demeanor had enraged the Water Spirit. After all, she was beyond wounded. She had almost died
in the hands of this human. She was lucky that his unnatural strength subsided before it could even
finish the job.
"I wished you no harm, human, but you also cannot blame me for my actions because you're obviously
seeking death. Now, you have lost your strength. Let me see how you can resist my true ice intent."
The Water Spirit stared hard at him.
"Really? Have I forgotten to tell you that even without the holy emperor's power, I could kill a senior
holy warrior? Well, now that you're here, let us see who attacks faster."
In a blink of an eye, Darren disappeared from his spot.
When he appeared again, he was now in front of the Water Spirit.
"You!" Her beautiful eyes glinted with surprise. She didn't expect the human to be this fast.
A hand grabbed her pale neck and a strong sword intent touched her throat. The threat of death hung
between them for Darren only needed to use little force to kill her right there an then.
"No, no, no..." cried the Water Spirit.
To Darren's surprise, the Water Spirit began to cry earnestly.
"You are taking advantage of me! Let me go, you bastard!"
Huge drops of tears ran down her pearly face. It made her look pitiful to anyone's eyes.
"Stop playing tricks on me. I don't buy it," Darren said coldly. In his head, he believed that her tears
were all for show. She must be hiding something under her sleeves.
"What do you want me to do? I'm so scared, so I cry."
Her voice was softened and tempered by fear. There was something tender about her vulnerability. It
was as if she was just a little, innocent girl getting bullied.
"Let me pass." Darren was unmoved by this.
"You didn't even pass. Why force me to do this? So pathetic..."
Darren had enough of the Water Spirit's pitiful show.
Without warning, he squeezed his fingers into her neck until her bones began to crack under his tight
grip.
"Ah!"
The Water Spirit could no longer keep up with her facade. Her resentment began to burst out of her.
"Kill me! Kill me now and damn yourself to this place until you die." She let out a loud, terrifying roar.
Her eyes turned blue with grief. Waves surged behind them as if a horrible storm was brewing inside.
Darren felt a twinge in his heart until it softened. He eventually let go of her neck.
"I don't want to kill you. I just want to get out of here." Darren sighed.
A fat drop of tear slid down from the Water Spirit's cheek, splashing down on the ground.
"Scumbag like you? Why would I let you pass? You ignored the pleas of a weak woman like me."
Darren shook his head with a bitter smile. "There's nothing I can do to change your mind about me, but
I can tell you the truth. I came here for the test when I didn't even know the rule of the test at all. I just
wasn't expecting a woman to suddenly appear asking for help.
If I saved her without asking any questions, wouldn't that make me a fool? Would you save her if you
were in my place?
If I had encountered her outside, I would have helped her without hesitation even if that means risking This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
my life. The circumstances here, however, are vastly different from outside. So don't judge me just
because your childish tricks didn't work on me!"
The Water Spirit was left in a daze by Darren's words.
"How dare you say my method is childish?"
"If not childish, then what should I call it?"
"Well, it still does not make it childish. Humph!" But her annoyance had seemed to dwindle down a bit
after his explanation. She didn't want to admit it, but she understood what he meant. Nonetheless, she
pretended to be nonchalant as she turned to him. "I don't care about what you said. To pass this test,
you must save me once."
Darren rolled his eyes.
"Will you save me or not?" she asked.
"Is there a need for me to save you still? I've already told you my side of the story and have already
spared your life. Just let me pass," Darren said.
Once again, the Water Spirit's tears returned. "No, please, save me once. Even if it'll be a fake
scenario, it'll still make me happy. Please help me."
The Water Spirit's pleas had touched something deep inside Darren's heart. It made him feel strange
and inexplicably sad. For some reason, the Water Spirit looked like a whole different person.
