CHAPTER 1451 ENTERING THE CHAOTIC REGION
Darren had been waiting in the Tussle Region for a day, when an old man and a middle-aged man in
armor arrived one after the other.
"Are you the client?"
They both looked Darren up and down. In their eyes, Darren was young and his cultivation stage was
not high. How dared he go to the Chaotic Region?
"Yes I am," Darren replied flatly. "Thank you both for the help. Let's set off right away."
"Take it easy," the old man said, raising his hand. "Let's get some of the rules straight first. My name is
Stewart Chi. You may refer to me as 'Mr. Chi' or 'sir'. As for the rules, I think Guard Kermit must have
already told you that I am allowed to refuse to help you with anything that is beyond my ability or
threatens my life. Do you accept these terms?" asked the old man.
"That's expected. If it comes down to the critical moment of life and death, it's absolutely normal for you
to run for your life. Of course I accept it. What about you, buddy? Do you have any rules?" Darren
asked, shifting his eyes to the other assassin, the middle-aged man in armor.
"Humph!" snorted the man coldly, thinking Darren was being a little too forward. He was at the top level
of the Superior God Realm. He was greatly superior to Darren. How dared Darren refer to him as
"buddy"? But he held in his displeasure and said nothing of it, despite the obvious offence on his face.
"My rules are the same as Stewart's. But after the job is done, you need to provide a level-eleven
divine pattern to each of us. And remember, it must be the divine pattern we specially designate,"
replied the middle-aged man.
"Excuse me?" Darren frowned. "Hasn't the price been settled already? Now you're changing your mind
right before coming to the stage?"
"Young man, do you in good conscience believe two level-eleven divine patterns for each of us is a fair
price for hiring us to break into the Chaotic Region? Truthfully, we reluctantly agreed to take this task
on, and only did it because we heard that you were on good terms with the leaders of the two regions
and Guard Kermit spoke of you well.
Once it is done, we will all be happy. Do you really think one more divine pattern is excessive in light of
that? I'm pretty sure everyone will see our demand as reasonable,"
said the old man named Stewart Chi.
The price they were paying, three level-eleven divine patterns for each, was quite a bargain for a killer
at the top level of the Superior God Realm. But there was more to the equation; Kermit had deducted
one level-eleven divine pattern from each of their rewards. It was no wonder they were unhappy.
It was quite clearly a losing deal for them.
"I am grateful to you both for going through the trouble to go to the Chaotic Region. When you return,
you will definitely be given the divine pattern you're asking for," Connor responded, as if it was nothing.
He did not think it was going to be an easy mission for the two killers. It made sense to pay one more
divine pattern to each of them.
"Alright. It is agreed. Thanks to you both," Darren said, agreeing to their demand. After all, Kermit had
robbed them of one divine pattern each for his own secret kickback.
"It's settled then. Let's go. First we will go to the North Cool Region through the transmission array and
then we will fly to the Chaotic Region from there." Stewart Chi abruptly shifted the conversation and got
right down to business once he was satisfied that his demand had been met.
Hood took Darren and the others to a special transmission array. Darren and the two killers stood on it
and their figures began gradually fading.
"Take care, Darren."
"Be careful. If you have any difficulty, send me a message and let me know as soon as possible. I'll do
my best to be of help."
Hood and Connor cupped their hands and said goodbye to Darren.
"You can rest easy, buddies," Darren replied, returning the salute as he disappeared completely.
Under the dull sky of the wilderness, three figures emerged.
"Young man, did you call the region leaders 'buddies' just then?"
This had been on Stewart Chi's mind throughout the teleportation, and he could not figure out why
Darren and the two region leaders spoke so casually with each other. How could the leaders of two
great regions treat this young man so amiably? Just who the hell was this guy?
"Ha-ha, I have to thank them for their help and show my appreciation. I may call them buddies, but in
my heart, I respect them as much as the masters of previous generations," Darren said with sincerity
and humility in his words.
"I'm afraid you are too modest, Darren. May I ask which master was your teacher?"
After hearing Darren's answer, the arrogant expression on the middle-aged man's face disappeared.
He now considered himself on the same level as Darren and had made that decision quite quickly. Belonging to .
"I could be viewed as a reclusive cultivator. May I know your name, sir?" Darren asked of the middle-
aged man.
"Hey, you don't have to call me 'sir'. My name is Jamison Ji. Just call me by my name." The middle-
aged man's attitude towards Darren was now much friendlier.
"Nice to meet you, Jamison." Darren nodded with a kind smile.
These killers hadn't taken a mission for two hundred years. They had been concentrating on cultivation
and had not heard of Darren or that he had connections with many powerful masters at the Superior
God Realm.
"Darren, all that Guard Kermit told us was to go to the Chaotic Region to rescue someone. Do you
have any more detailed information for us? The strength of the enemy perhaps?"
Stewart Chi began asking more serious questions after some idle chit-chat. It was very important for
them to know more about their enemy. There were after all many powerful warriors in the Chaotic
Region.
Darren shook his head solemnly. All he had gotten himself was a message from Yolanda asking for
help, nothing more.
Darren did not even know where the Five Dangerous Areas that Yolanda was in were. He would only
be able to figure that and anything else he wanted to know out once he arrived in the Chaotic Region.
"Solving the problem without specific details could prove to be difficult. We should be careful on our
arrival. We don't want to attract any trouble to ourselves. Let's get everything figured out first," said
Jamison Ji.
"Yes, of course. But the two of us need not worry too much. Even in the Chaotic Region, there can't be
too many powerful warriors. We should be able to handle the vast majority," responded Stewart Chi
confidently.
They were at the top level of the Superior God Realm; that was enough to give them comfort. As long
as they did not go around provoking the powerful forces, it was unlikely they would encounter any
serious danger.
"We'll discuss it further when we get there. For now, let's fly with all our strength."
The killers suddenly sped up and Darren followed suit.
When they saw Darren's own speed, they were astounded, though they did not show it. How could the
speed of a young man at the middle-level of the Celestial God Realm be anywhere near comparable to
that of a powerful warrior at the low-level of the Superior God Realm? He had to have had some sort of
unique speeding skill.
They flew along, arriving on the fourth day at the border between the North Cool Region and the
Chaotic Region.
"Slow down. There's a small city three thousand kilometers ahead. Let's have a look."
Neither of the assassins had ever been to the Chaotic Region before and so they were being very
cautious, making sure they checked their surroundings thoroughly.
The three of them touched down in a simple and small old city. It was a dusty little place, so much so
that it seemed as though it had been erected in a desert.
There were not many people walking throughout the city and those they did see appeared to be in a
hurry, scurrying away.
Darren felt different here, in this old and shabby city. This was his clan's territory. As the Territory
Enfeoffing Emperor, he felt an inexplicable attachment to this strange land.
"You three are new around these parts, aren't you? Why not come into our tavern for a drink and a bit
of a rest?"
suggested a middle-aged man with dust all over his face. He stood in front of a low wooden house on
the left side of the street, calling out to them as they walked through.
"No, thanks,"
Steward Chi replied, waving his hand politely. He thought it was best for them to not stop
unnecessarily.
"Stewart, why don't we just rest here a little? I happen to have something to inquire about," said
Darren, trying to convince him.
"Stewart, you're being too cautious. What threat could such a small city pose to us? Let's go in for a
drink." Jamison Ji loved alcohol more than most. The smell of it coming from the tavern clawed at his
throat as his craving for a drink swelled.
"Alright, what harm could a little rest do?"
"Welcome, this way please."
Darren and the two killers walked into the small tavern. It was a little dark, furnished with three old
wooden tables and the slight smell of mold hanging in the air.
