CHAPTER 1088 TOO CARELESS
Several drops of red blood flew out of the tiny cracks that had appeared on the Shura's chest.
As soon as this blood fell on the black iron coffin, the Shura ancestor absorbed it.
"Argh!"
The Shura trembled as he fought to maintain control. But, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop
what was happening.
"Go ahead. Sacrifice yourself, my child!" ordered the Shura ancestor.
More and more cracks formed on the Shura's chest and dozens of drops of blood essence floated out.
Whoosh!
At this time, a strong sword intent suddenly appeared.
"Humph! Don't even think about resurrecting!"
A figure materialized above the black iron coffin. It was Darren!
Just when the Shura ancestor was about to get the blood essence to return to life, the guardian
transmitted all of what happened here to Darren's memory. Then, he teleported Darren to this place
with the hope that he could prevent the Shura ancestor's resurrection.
Bang!
Intense sword intent swept across the black iron coffin, and the Shura ancestor's shadow distorted as
though it was about to disperse.
Darren's power was enough to break the spell the Shura ancestor had placed on the Shura.
"How did these four black iron coffins appear here?" For the time being, the threat had been mitigated.
And so, Darren turned and questioned the Shura.
The Shura transferred his memories to Darren.
Darren's brow furrowed when he realized that the Shura had come here in search of him and that he
was unaware of what was in the black iron coffins.
"Hum, you reap what you sow." Darren sneered. Even though the Shura had not intentionally released
this threat, Darren's attitude toward him was unforgiving.
"Help me kill him, and I'll pay you back." Since the Shura was bound by ancestral bloodlines, only
Darren could help him now.
"You are my enemy. Why should I help you? It's better to let him assimilate you," Darren stated.
"You and I are not enemies. I helped you survive the thunder punishment."
"Do you mean that I have to pay you back for your aid?"
After a moment's silence, the Shura rationalized, "Even if you don't want to kill him to help me, consider
this. If my ancestor is revived, he will be a threat to the human race. You need to annihilate him
regardless of your feelings toward me."
"You are right. So be it. Even though we are enemies, I will help you, just as you assisted me.
Tell me. How can I destroy him?" Darren declared after considering the Shura's argument.
"Human!" A cold voice echoed in the small space, catching the attention of all present. Then, the
shadow fixed its harsh glare on Darren and said, "No, you are not a human! As you have my bloodline,
you are my descendent."
It only took a split second for the Shura ancestor to detect the Shura Force in Darren's body.
"In my name, I order you to sacrifice yourself." owns this.
Earlier, the Shura ancestor's resurrection plans had been interrupted by Darren's arrival. Although he
tried to continue, Darren's power had shaken him and released the Shura from the order he had given.
His surging fury had calmed after he detected that this creature looked like a human being, but he had
the Shura ancestor's bloodline. The thought of using his God Character to command this creature
pleased the Shura ancestor!
When Darren heard the cold voice, his blood began to boil. Anxiety coursed through him as he had not
expected that the order would also affect him.
Darren immediately summoned all his strength to suppress the boiling blood. Then he hid all the blood
essence in his elixir field and protected it with other forces.
"You assume too much. You can't order me at all," Darren said coldly. Now that his impulse to make the
sacrifice had receded, he could focus on the task of stopping the Shura ancestor.
Confusion reflected on the Shura ancestor's face when his command didn't work on the human. He had
earlier sensed that this creature was his descendant. If so, then why didn't his order work?
"Bring me back to life, and I will give you stronger power." The Shura ancestor tried to bribe him.
Darren ignored him and turned to face the Shura. "Tell me how I can kill him," he communicated to the
Shura via his spiritual sense.
As the Shura ancestor existed as a phantom, Darren didn't know how to destroy him.
"You must find a way to remove his God Character."
The Shura ancestor's power depended on the residual force attached to his God Character.
"That's not difficult." Darren sneered as he released a stream of dark gold internal force.
Bang!
The dark gold internal force was so intense that the black iron coffin shook continuously under its
bombardment.
"No!" The Shura ancestor roared as panic coursed through him. If the creature continued to attack, it
was very likely that his God Character would be shaken free of the coffin. Once he lost his God
Character, he would return to the state of death.
Bang!
As the attacks continued, the Shura ancestor's phantom became dimmer and dimmer. By now, an
octahedral crystal had half-surfaced from the black iron coffin.
"I will share the God Character with you if you stop attacking!" Sensing that the creature was not
tempted by his earlier offer, the Shura ancestor tried offering something more.
"Really?" Darren tilted his head to one side, glanced at him, and asked, "How will you share it?"
"You have my bloodline. After I recover, I will give half of my blood essence so that you can inherit half
of my God Character's power.
If you accept this deal, you will be as powerful as me. I'm willing to make an oath if you still have
doubts," the Shura ancestor hurriedly explained. Now that the creature was considering his offer,
perhaps he could save himself.
The Shura's face twitched. Such an offer was too tempting.
"Oh, that sounds great." Darren's smile terrified the Shura. It sounded like he had been enticed by the
conditions offered by the ancestor.
But soon, confusion surged through him as Darren's strong dark gold internal force bombarded the
black iron coffin again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With the continuous impact, the octahedral crystal was thrown out.
"What? Why? You should have considered my proposal! Why didn't you stop?"
The Shura ancestor believed that his offer would entice his attacker. If he were this creature, he would
have agreed.
But why did he smile and then resume his attacks? The Shura ancestor was confused.
Now that it was free from the black iron coffin, the God Character flew away. Devoid of his power, the
Shura ancestor disappeared. His dying roar echoed in the space for a while.
"You refused him." The Shura, who had been bewildered by Darren's actions, finally broke the silence.
He looked at Darren strangely, as he stated.
"He is dead. For now, he exists only as a phantom. Will the oath he makes be binding?" Darren had
found the loophole in the Shura ancestor's proposal!
It then became apparent that the Shura ancestor had tried to trick Darren. If he were not a living
creature, the oath he made would not take effect.
Besides, even if it did work, Darren would not have agreed. The God Character belonged to the Shura
ancestor. For the proposal to work, he would have to transfer half of his blood essence to him. That
would enable him to control Darren! He wouldn't risk being reduced to a powerful puppet at the hands
of the Shura ancestor.
"You are clever."
This whole time, the Shura had been tempted by the offers. He hadn't even thought of all these
possibilities and risks.
Whoosh!
The Shura's figure flashed while they were speaking.
"What? No way!"
It took a moment for Darren to realize that the Shura had rushed to the God Character.
Darren chased him, but it was a pity that the Shura was faster. In the blink of an eye, the black God
Character fell in the hands of Shura.
"Put it down!"
Darren roared.
"Impossible," replied the Shura with a cold expression
The Shura was the direct descendant of the Shura ancestor. Now that he possessed the God
Character, he could forcibly refine and inherit it. Once successful, he would get at least eighty to ninety
percent of the Shura ancestor's power.
He would rather die than give up such a cherished and powerful item.
Moreover, now that his ancestor had gone, nothing could threaten him.
It only took a few months for the Shura to refine the God Character and gain its power.
Darren realized that he had been careless. He had solved one problem, only to have created another.
What should he do now?
"Guardian, do you think the strength I obtained in the Virtual Battle Space can be used to deal with
him?" Darren asked the guardian.
"I suppose not. But if I set him to be a destroyer, then perhaps, yes," the guardian replied.
Darren breathed a sigh of relief.
