CHAPTER 944 IMPENDING DOOM
Darren had thought that the Water and Fire Cultivation was too common but now, he did not think so. It
would not be bad to have the power of a half-step emperor if he was able to get the inheritance of the
Fire and Water Emperor Character.
"See? I cultivate both the fire and water skills at the same time."
Darren stretched out his hands and triggered a fit of ice fog from the water crystal in his left hand.
Meanwhile, light blue flames erupted on his right hand.
"Well... You are, indeed, cultivating both fire and water skills at the same time..." The Tiger Cat stared
at him, a little surprised.
In the Tiger Cat's mind, Darren had practiced the Blade and Sword Cultivation, the Shura Cultivation
and had obtained the dragon blood, which were already quite extraordinary. He became more confident
in Darren's talents when he saw him master the Water and Fire Cultivation as well.
"Boy, your overall strength is much stronger than that woman's!" the Tiger Cat exclaimed, excited to
have met someone as powerful as Darren.
Darren smiled faintly. "I'm flattered, really. Based on what you said, I should be able to get the Fire and
Water Emperor Character now, right?"
"Of course. Although you have only learned a little bit about the Water and Fire Cultivation, my master's
Emperor Character will not reject you. I do believe that you are the right candidate to get the Fire and
Water Emperor Character," the Tiger Cat replied.
Darren nodded silently. Then, a question popped in his mind. 'Who could have been able to kill the
Tiger Cat's master—a holy emperor who had cultivated three conflicting martial arts skills?'
"Who killed your master?" Darren asked curiously.
The Tiger Cat's face turned grim and furious and his lips curled into a sneer.
"It was a Shura cultivator, a powerful one," he said grimly after a pause.
Darren was terrified. He didn't expect the Shura race to be so powerful that they could even slay an
emperor who cultivated three conflicting martial arts skills.
"I got the Shura Force by chance. Are you somehow upset with me because of this?" Darren asked.
"Nonsense! If I were, I would have killed you already!" The Tiger Cat rolled his eyes at him.
"Ah... That's good to hear, I suppose." Darren scratched his head.
"Now, you should set off to the inheritance area of fire and water test. After you pass these three tests
there, you can get the Fire and Water Emperor Character. Whether you succeed or not depends on
your talent."
After saying that, the Tiger Cat turned around and gestured for Darren to follow him.
He followed the Tiger Cat and walked inside. Along the way, he saw three doors. Each was surrounded
by a different powerful aura. He knew that there must be an Emperor Character lying behind each door.
The Tiger Cat knelt in front of one of the doors and murmured a few words. Then, a ray of light flashed
and the door opened.
"Get in now. Try your best to get it successfully within ten years. If you unfortunately die inside, don't
blame me," the Tiger Cat said.
Without saying anything, Darren walked forward and entered the door.
In front of the pool
Chaz and others were still waiting for Darren to come back. The Tiger Cat suddenly appeared in front
of them.
"Here are your rewards for coming this far. Now, leave."
The Tiger Cat released an array of treasures for the group, hoping that they would go back to where
they came from.
"Where is Darren? We don't want the reward. We just want him to come back," Chaz said.
"Yes, I want to wait for him, too," Laura added.
"You can't stay here. It will take the boy a long time to obtain the inheritance!" the Tiger Cat said.
"But..."
"No buts! I'm not allowing you to stay here," the Tiger Cat growled. He let out a terrifying howl, making
even Chaz retreat backwards.
The Tiger Cat was truly very powerful, and they did not dare go up against him.
"Humph!" Chaz snorted.
"Chaz, we should give up. It won't do us or Darren any good to stay. We should go back to the Holy
City and wait for him there," Anthony pleaded.
"Leave now or I will forcibly remove you," the Tiger Cat growled, getting impatient.
"Alright, alright! We're leaving. Sheesh!" Anthony replied. He cupped his hands to take the treasures
that the Tiger Cat had given them.
The Tiger Cat calmed down. Then, he conjured a secret array and teleported the group out of the
place.
At the entrance of the holy emperor's tomb, the air was fresh. It no longer smelled of the blood and rot
from the great battle that had taken place a few days back.
"Ha! We've finally come out alive!"
a voice exclaimed. It was from one of the five warriors of the other cities.
"Oh, how we have longed for this moment! Anthony, now you no longer have Darren's protection, it is
time for us to exact our revenge!"
All the five warriors wore grim expressions. They looked at the rest of the group with anger and ferocity
in their eyes.
Chaz frowned. "This is your fault, Anthony! We should've killed them when we had the chance!"
"Too late to regret it now!" The five warriors surrounded the group, each man exuding a murderous
aura.
Anthony's face was livid with rage. He secretly regretted sparing their lives.
"It's useless to blame me. Let's kill them together. Now!" Anthony said disdainfully. He gathered all of
his strength to bring him to his fullest power.
"Let's see how long you can resist our attacks. Kill him first!"
The five men closed in on Anthony. They were about the same level as Anthony. If they launched a
joint attack against him, it would be only a matter of time to kill him. C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
Just then, a terrifying bellow shook the earth.
A void appeared out of thin air and ghastly, black smoke billowed out of it.
A blood-red figure fell out of the void, crashing right into one of the five men, a five-tribulation warrior.
Bang!
The warrior immediately exploded and his fallen, bloody body erupted into a heap of flesh.
"What?!"
Everyone was stunned.
Something suddenly fell from the sky and killed such a strong man at staggering speed. They were
terrified out of their wits!
The remaining four warriors could not do anything but stare.
They saw that the creature in front of them had bloody scales. It stared into their eyes, unblinking. The
creature's eyes were cold and ruthless. All who could feel its aura felt that they were being transported
into the darkest depths of hell.
"Fiend, you can't get away!"
At that moment, four hands reached out from inside the void and grabbed the creature.
The creature looked extremely frightened. In a flash, it entered the body of a powerful five-tribulation
warrior, possessing him. The warrior turned into thick, black smoke and seeped into the ground.
The four hands failed to catch their target and smashed into the ground, producing loud booming
sounds.
Pieces of rock and soil flew about as the hands flailed around in search of their target.
"Damn it! He escaped again!"
"That bastard Barnes released two of the first fiend ancestor's body parts. Otherwise, we would have
captured the fiend already!"
"If the eighteen cities are sealed completely, maybe our world will be able to survive another hundred
years. Let's go back to the Sacred Palace first."
"But... That bastard has put back together two of the first fiend ancestor's body parts. It will only be a
matter of time before the fiend recovers completely and when he does, there will be a massacre!"
"That's beyond our control. Sealing the eighteen cities is our best defense now. If we didn't do that, it
would have been easy for the fiend to save the other six body parts in ten years. If that happened, no
one could defeat the fiend anymore."
"Well, all right. Alas! The doom is coming! But this time, there will be no emperor to prevent the doom
and rescue the world!"
After they spoke, the four figures conjured up barriers, enclosing the eighteen cities. They uttered
incantations that would enhance its protection, making it impenetrable to anyone outside.
For the next hundred years, no one, including immortals, could go in or out of the eighteen cities.
Everyone, stunned at the sudden turn of events, journeyed back to their respective homes. They forged
on, uncertain of what the future held for them.
