CHAPTER 678 THE ROAD TO GET OUT (PART ONE)
"Are you sure you want to go out now? If you choose just to stay here, after you become a holy warrior,
you might still have a chance to go out," the old man implored anticipating for Darren's decision.
"Sir, could you please let me know what kind of road it is before I make a decision? Why is it so hard to
get out of here?" Darren asked and requested a favor from the old man.
"Okay, come with me,"
the old man said and led Darren to walk out of the world of corpses.
After walking for a while, they came to another door. Darren noticed that the old man, by this time,
looked grave. It could be seen that the old man was hesitant, especially when he raised his hand and
wanted to open the door, but then took it back momentarily.
"Father, don't open the door."
Appearing from behind them, Orval followed them all this time and rubbed the old man's hand.
"It's okay. Take a step back and stay away from this door." With a reassuring glance, the old man
touched Orval's head. The latter then, understanding what his godfather meant by such a gesture,
nodded, and ran away in a panic.
With a squeak from the door being pushed by the old man's trembling hands, Darren froze in silence
and anticipated on what lay behind that door.
Soon enough, as the old man pushed a little harder, the vintage door was opened.
Exceedingly curious and sweating in excitement, Darren, together with the old man, entered in a flash
—at breakneck speed even.
Clatter! Clank!
As the door closed behind them, it was utterly dark that Darren could not see anything. The sound of
waves spread to his ears and made him vigilant at once.
"Sir, I cannot see anything, and my spiritual sense cannot detect anything either," Darren verbalized to
the old man.
"Keep quiet and just wait," the old man said in a severe tone. A slight hush was evident in his voice as
if he was waiting for something just to swallow them whole.
Listening intently to the sound of the waves, Darren felt that his eardrums were about to be broken. His
whole body went limp, and an aura of blood and darkness enveloped him completely.
After waiting for a long time, a speck of light finally lit up ahead of them. At the sight of it, Darren's
spirits were somewhat lifted, and the anxiousness that he had with him since he entered the door was
gradually vanquished.
As the light spread across space, Darren adjusted his sight and saw an endless surging sea in front of
him. Huge waves soared straight into the sky—almost kissing the clouds as they rose.
However, to his horror, Darren took a step back unconsciously, because the sea that he thought was
filled with water was actually a real sea of blood!
To add more to his horror, Darren saw that in the middle of the blood sea, eight people were kneeling
on the ground. Above them, a person was tied up by many blood-red chains.
"I'll fly there to have a look," Darren said without even thinking. He was so dumbfounded by the scene
that he couldn't think rationally.
"Stop!"
the old man shouted at once to halt his reckless action.
"Do you know who he is?"
"Of course, I don't know."
"The eight people kneeling there are all senior holy warriors, the real ones," the old man explained
carefully to Darren.
"Why did the senior holy warriors kneel? Who is the person tied amidst them?" Darren asked, curiously.
It was the first time in his life that he had seen such a bizarre act.
"Who do you think he is that he could make the eight senior holy warriors kneel together?" The old man
did not answer Darren, but he asked Darren another question instead.
"A holy emperor!" Darren blurted out, his eyes wide open. Such a realization made him feel inferior at
once while totally exhilarated on one end.
The old man nodded in agreement. All this time, the old man's eyes were fixed on the holy emperor This material belongs to .
and the eight warriors kneeling before him.
Unable to believe his eyes, Darren looked at that direction again. This time his eyes were glued, and he
was looking closer—every inch and corner, leaving no details unnoticed. He was so excited because
he could meet not only the senior holy warriors but also the real holy emperor.
"Are they dead, sir?" Darren murmured in question as he noticed how the heads of the senior holy
warriors were dropped low.
"Of course, or else you would have been overwhelmed to death by the auras they gave off when you
came in," the old man explained.
"Sir, what does it have to do with me walking out of the Mythological Palace? I don't get it," Darren
asked confusedly as he linked the act right now to the decision that he was about to make.
"As I said, there is only one way out. You have to go through the blood sea and pass through the holy
emperor's heart. Only his heart holds the passage to the outside world."
The old man's words made Darren's expression change abruptly.
"Get out from the holy emperor's heart?" Darren couldn't imagine how one could achieve that.
Although the holy emperor had been dead for some tens of thousands of years, the holy emperor's
power was still existing. It was impossible to enter his heart!
"Until now, there have been many reliable people who have come to the Mythological Palace. Only a
few of them are willing to become the Lord of the Mythological Palace, and most of them want to take
this path to go outside. Therefore, it is safe to say that hundreds of holy warriors have died here. What
you can see outside are the holy tombs, where bodies of strong holy warriors are kept, while the
remaining emperor's power directly crushed the rest," the old man continued to state, stressing out that
it would be a hard road for Darren to take.
"Now, do you still want to go out?" The serious-faced old man smiled at Darren. He knew that Darren
must be scared, and it was normal for him to retreat.
"Have none of them really been out yet?" Challenged by the fact, Darren did not answer the old man's
question directly, but asked in a small voice, feeling frustrated.
"Yes, as far as I can remember, there was one person. Shortly after I became the lord, there was
someone who broke into the palace and managed to get out of here."
"Who was he? He must be so powerful to do that. Was he at least a junior holy warrior, just like you?"
