CHAPTER 762 A NEW WORLD (PART ONE)

"What happened?" Nate asked.

"There's an evil presence around us. You had better come and see for yourself!" the man cried, panting Belongs © to .

heavily.

"Let's go take a look," Darren answered.

Following the alien, Darren and the other two soon found themselves in front of a mountain.

They found piles of crushed stones at the foot of the mountain. A little further on, a mine passage was

mounted on the hard wall of a bare slope.

There were many alien creatures there. Some looked to be badly injured and some looked dead. The

ground soaked with their dark blood.

"Who the hell did this?" Nate roared then looked about with a raging fire in his eyes.

"My Lord, we don't know what happened inside. We followed your order to mine the Primitive Ore for

Mr. Chu. However, soon after we entered the mine passage, we heard the screams of the group that

had gone ahead of us. Just as we were wondering what to do next, a few bloody dead men were

thrown out from the darkness. It was too dark inside for us to clearly see who had done all of this," the

leader of the group said.

"I am sorry to have put you in danger. Now please, get some rest and leave this evil to me," Darren

said and gently patted the man on the back. His heart sank. These people had been ordered by Nate to

be in his service. So it was natural to feel guilty for what had happened to them because of him.

Noting his concern, the leader consoled him. "You saved us, so we all believe that we are obliged to

help you if ever you need help. Mining for you is just one way for us to show you our gratitude. But right

now, apparently there is something evil dwelling there and it's very angry about our mining, as you can

see. We are very afraid and don't dare to enter again. Would you please go and find out what's going

on inside?"

Darren nodded his head and turned to Nate before getting ready to explore the mine. "Nate, I will deal

with whatever it is in there. Please bury the fallen and treat their families with whatever the best helps

to lessen their anguish. I'm sure they'll grieve the loss of their kin deeply," he said in dismay.

"Yes, I know," Nate said and nodded.

"Besides, I don't want to trouble them with more mining in the future. The job is too dangerous for them.

We can take care of it ourselves," Darren added.

"The blame is on me. I was too careless. I only thought about letting you get some rest for a while and

didn't contemplate the possibility of danger. After this is over, let me mine alone as punishment for my

rash decision." Nate looked very guilt-ridden.

"There's no point in blaming yourself too much now. Arrange things here and send them home. I wish

for you to be the one to escort them back. I'll go inside and see what's going on," Darren said.

"Okay. But be careful and don't linger if you find you are weaker than whatever that lurks inside," Nate

reminded him with concern.

Darren nodded and said nothing.

"Elsa, the mine is full of dust. You'd better stay here and wait," he told Elsa.

The plan wasn't to her liking. "No, what if it's too dangerous?" she countered.

"Silly girl, you know my strength. What danger can I not overcome? Just wait here for me. I will be

quick!"

With that, Darren flew straight into the cave.

The air inside of the cave was stifling and a thick smell of blood wafted inside.

It was only about thirty thousand feet deep, so Darren soon reached the bottom.

He found that the bottom was full of bloody bones. Something big and evil must have gnawed on those

dead men.

Using his spiritual sense, Darren probed the air around him.

But after having surveyed the whole mine, he found no traces of any beasts nor sounds that indicated

their location.

'This is weird. How come there's nothing here? What kind of beast could eat so many men?'

Darren thought to himself and marched his way down a side path that branched off from the mine's

main passage.

After walking along for a while, Darren found some hair on the ground. He picked the strands up. They

were black and didn't belong to a human.

'There is a strong malicious scent emanating from these strands, ' Darren wondered in surprise. He

guessed that the owner of the hair must be an ancient, savage animal.

The next logical step clearly was to go down the path, and seek out the beast that was hiding.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, his quick eyes caught a glimpse of something that flashed and passed before him.

Subsequently, the whole path's narrow and limited space was filled with a revolting stench.

Whoosh!

Darren moved in the speed of light and swiftly made his way towards the beast. His sword intent shone

with a blazing bright light, and along with it, a gust of blood sprayed out and flecked the stone wall.

There was an animal's bellow and a hiss coming from the stone wall.

To Darren's surprise, black smoke rose from the stone wall where the blood had landed. Once it

subsided, there was an obvious hole where the hard and tough stone wall had melted off.

"Wow, what a corrosive creature!" Darren cried out in wonder.

Then, without even turning around, Darren sensed that the animal was creeping right behind him. In a

flash, he brandished his sword and tore off all four legs.

A dull thud sounded as the creature flung itself to the ground. Turning around, Darren saw a black

beast with long teeth like jagged blades.

"It's incredible! How could such a small thing have eaten so many people?"

Indeed, to Darren, the creature looked almost as small as a rat. Only its fur was brighter and its eyes

more dark and ferocious.
