CHAPTER 849 ATTITUDE
A dead body was placed in the middle of the hall of the three major clans.
Around it, there were eight angry old men.
At the front of the hall, an old man sat. The expression on his face was cold as ice and his eyes held
such malice that it might have killed anyone with just a glance.
"I need to know who killed Talcott," he said. His voice was deceptively calm, but it betrayed the anger
simmering underneath it.
"Sir, Talcott was killed by people from the Space-time Palace. I saw it with my own eyes and they even
threatened to kill me. Fortunately, a few of my fellows arrived. The blue-skinned men were afraid that
you would get involved so they decided to retreat."
Talcott had just become a senior holy warrior not so long ago, and yet his life was unexpectedly put to
an end with just one palm strike. His death was a huge blow to the three major clans.
By killing him, the blue-skinned people had just sent out a lethal warning.
"With all due respect, sir, we must avenge Talcott. My fellows and I will gather and hunt down those
people from the Space-time Palace," someone suggested.
The eight people present in the hall were those who held top-ranking positions in the clans. The dead
Talcott was the weakest one among them.
Yorick stood up and said, "In my opinion, there's no need for us to do anything stupid. We should,
instead, inform the Sacred Palace of this matter as quickly as possible. They'll figure out what should
be done next."
"This has nothing to do with the Sacred Palace! The man who died is one of ours. They won't give us
any support because their strong masters are in the eighteen cities. It'll be useless to bring the matter
to them."
"The strength of the Sacred Palace should not be underestimated. It won't be useless to inform them of
the issue because an alien race was involved. They'll surely want to be informed about this."
"I agree with you. To human race, the approval of the Sacred Palace matters more than that of the
three major clans so it is only reasonable that they deal with the problem. In this way, we get their
support while also keeping our original agreement."
"Humph! By fulfilling the agreement, you are giving the Sacred Palace free reign to lead. I can't agree
to that."
The elders began to quarrel among each other.
"Stop! It's necessary to inform the Sacred Palace of this incident. If they won't do anything, it'll be a
direct violation of the agreement. If that happens, we can take back control from them legally," the
leader at the front of the hall opened his mouth, "Chilton, you need to go to the Sacred Palace and
inform them of this in person."
The old man named Chilton was a senior holy warrior who had secluded himself for a long time.
Now, he had joined the other elders for the meeting. Nodding his head, he conceded. "Yes, sir."
"Be polite to the lord of the Sacred Palace. After all, he holds the title of being the highest leader of the Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
human race."
"I understand." With that, Chilton stood up and left.
The clan leader then turned to Yorick. "Yorick, begin investigating the reason behind this murder."
But Yorick was already prepared for this. He had found the miners who escaped the mountain, and
they had given him rough details of what had happened in the mines.
"I already know the truth so there's no need for anymore investigation. I've been told that Darren, from
the Sacred Palace, was the one who destroyed the mines we gave to the Space-time Palace."
Hearing this, the expression on the leader's face became darker. "Go on," he urged on.
Meanwhile, Darren had finally returned to the cave where Mathew and Hanson were.
Hanson had fully recovered in the few days he was gone. There were no longer any signs of
weaknesses and pain from before.
"It seems like all the poison in my body is gone now. Barnes the Holy is really something," Hanson
declared.
But Mathew cut in, "All the poison haven't really been removed yet. You still have to wait for the
antidote to make sure that the venom will no longer spread."
"I see." Hanson nodded his head and said, "Thank you, Darren. You not only brought the herbs needed
for my antidote, but you also brought a great master to heal me. I really don't know how to thank you."
"I'm just glad that you are recovering, sir. There's no need to thank me," Darren said.
"This is what Darren is like. Always so loyal to his friends. Ha ha." Mathew flashed him a sincere smile.
"Very well, I won't say anything more. By the way, where is Barnes the Holy now?" Hanson asked.
Darren shrugged. "I don't know. The monkey said he wanted to take a walk. He must be having fun
somewhere now."
"Don't mind him. You've mentioned that you killed some people from the Space-time Palace a few days
ago. You better watch your back from now on," Mathew cautioned.
"I killed them AND destroyed something precious to them."
The first information was nothing new, but the latter was something that he had just told them. He
intentionally waited for Hanson to recover before telling them the news.
"Really? What is it? "
Darren then took out the grain-sized crystals he got from the mines. He handed them to Mathew and
Hanson.
"Look!"
As they inspected it, both of them frowned.
"I think I've seen something like this at your master's."
"Yes. If I remember correctly, this is a dark-spirit crystal. It's used for making souls." Indeed, Hanson
had heard of such things. He racked his brain for memories he could have had regarding the crystal.
Hanson's words reminded Mathew of something. "Oh! How can I forget? This was one of the materials
what my master used when he made a tangible avatar. Then I gave the avatar to you, Darren."
Back then, Mathew had helped Darren condense his tangible avatar in the Starry Tower.
So it turned out this dark-spirit crystal was very precious and valuable. Even Darren's master, the
young man with black and white sword eyes, could only get his hands on a few of these.
"I never knew that we have such crystals in our land."
"The Space-time Palace has been trying to resurrecting corpses for some time now. This recent
behavior must be related to their desire for resurrecting the corpses. And there are rumors that the
Space-time Palace has the holy emperor's corpse. Think about it..."
A sense of dread fell on Mathew and Hanson as soon as their minds processed such terrible thoughts.
"They want to resurrect the holy emperor's corpse?" Darren was surprised, too.
"It's highly possible! It seems like you were able to foil their plans by accident this time."
"If the Space-time Palace was able to resurrect the holy emperor's corpse, then our human race will
suffer."
"But this also means the Space-time Palace will definitely not go easy on us now. Darren, we'll go to
the Sacred Palace with you. You need to explain this clearly to the lord so that we can get their
protection."
Hanson and Mathew told him this patiently.
Darren nodded his head in understanding. "Well, we should tell Lord Donald about it."
Before Darren could leave for the Sacred Palace, Auberon arrived, looking for him.
"Is Darren here?" Auberon yelled outside instead of going in directly.
Darren immediately went out to meet him. "What's wrong?"
"The senior holy warriors from the three major clans came to the Sacred Palace claiming that the
Space-time Palace had killed one of their men. They also said that you were involved in the murder so
the lord sent me to escort you back to the palace," Auberon replied.
"Very well. I'm about to come, too. Let's go." Darren nodded.
But Auberon stopped him hesitantly.
"Hold on, there is one more thing I want to tell you."
"What is it?"
"I feel that something's happening in the forbidden area of Hiram the Great's halberd. It's making me
very restless. Maybe I'm just making it all up inside my head."
Auberon had been guarding the forbidden area ever since the first fiend ancestor's arm was
suppressed. Lately, he had sensed something peculiar was going on in the forbidden area, but he
couldn't figure out what it was. He had come to Darren to warn him about it.
"Don't worry. I believe in you. Let's go meet the lord first. I have something important to explain."
With that, all of them went off to face the lord of the Sacred Palace.
