CHAPTER 687 FEARLESS
The fierce fight between the three sect leaders had caused lots of storms and destroyed the entire
space. Even though Darren and Hobson were a kilometer away from the battlefield, they were still
actively suppressed.
"Without the old man's protection, we can't even withstand that dispersed Holy Will of them." Struggling
to steady himself, Hobson paled at the dispersed Holy Will attacking them randomly.
"After all, they are holy warriors, who have gotten over a barrier of the martial arts. Definitely, they
would be compelling," Darren said despite being between a rock and a hard place.
"Well, we will be no worse than them when we become holy warriors. Especially you, I can't imagine
how powerful you will be like after you become a holy warrior."
"It's not that easy to reach the Holy Realm. Especially for me, to become a holy warrior, I have to go
through unbearable tortures and painstaking tasks. It would be a miracle if I were to reach the Holy
Realm alive," Darren said in a calm voice. He was grateful that the dispersed Holy Will had ebbed a
little by now.
Darren was telling the truth. Once he broke through to the Holy Realm, he had no choice but to
experience the Heavenly Repression again. It was hard to conclude whether he could live through it or
not.
Moreover, the Giant Ape advised Darren before that the hardest Conflicting Cultivation in the whole
world is the Rule and Martial Arts Cultivation.
According to the ape, the conflict usually occurred the moment the person reached the Holy Realm. It
was hard for Darren to imagine what kind of sufferings he would go through if ever he reached that
stage. Especially considering that he cultivated both the rule and martial arts at the same time!
Twenty hours later, as the huge and surging Holy Will finally waned and the battle gradually subsided,
Darren and Hobson put themselves at ease and let down their guards.
Darren and Hobson discreetly released their spiritual senses and found that Arlo, the leader of the
Dragon Chasing Sect, had been crushed, amputated, and eventually died.
"Unfortunately, I can't assimilate his talent. Otherwise, I would be a step closer to the Genuine Domain
Degree talent," Darren uttered in dismay.
Nonetheless, even if he couldn't assimilate the talent, he still felt relieved since one enemy had been
killed—one less oppressor to deal with.
As for Harrison and Dexter, after the violent battle, they were covered with wounds that their bones
were visible over their skins. Arlo was apparently extremely powerful judging from the injuries he had
inflicted upon them.
"Darren, how about we sneak up on them and kill them behind their backs?"
Seeing a perfect time to strike while the iron was hot, Hobson had found that both of them were very
weak after the battle, and their fighting power had dropped to the lowest point after they reached the
Holy Realm.
"No, it's not safe to do that," Darren opposed directly, totally dismissing Hobson's suggestion.
Darren knew for a fact that the most powerful method for a holy warrior was not dependent on their
bodily strength, but the pressure and attacks by the Holy Will. Even if they were injured now, Darren
and Hobson still could not compete with them if they would decide to attack them in surprise.
Back then, still fresh in his memories, Hobson had been smashed thousands of times by Jordan and
Harrison, who were both severely injured at that time.
"Let's return to the stone hall and find a place to hide. I'm sure a fight between Dexter and Harrison
would commence any time soon. The one who survives the battle will take the examination. If all things
went well, we would completely be safe," Darren said in suggestion to Hobson. He was just heeding to
alternatives that would do them less or at least no harm at all.
"Well, then let's go."
With that, Darren and Hobson returned to the stone hall.
After thirty days, before this very day, a figure cautiously stepped into the stone hall.
"It's Dexter!" whispered Darren in a hushed tone.
At the sight of the approaching figure, Darren and Hobson hid behind a stone gate, where they could
clearly see the man's face.
"It seems that he killed Harrison."
"Why does he look so nervous?" While carefully observing Dexter from afar, Hobson noticed that
Dexter looked over his shoulders from time to time, paused for a while, looked again, and then walked
cautiously.
"He didn't know that the old man was suppressed. Now that he entered here by himself, he is afraid
that we will join hands to kill him," Darren said with his head lowered in hiding.
"Well, I see." Seeing a point on what Darren had said, Hobson nodded and agreed at once.
At the moment, Dexter had already memorized everything on the ancient scroll. Thus, he rushed to a
stone door like a ghost, wrapped the ancient scroll in the shape of a cylinder, and stuffed it into a hole
in the door.
Out of the blue, Dexter was shrouded by flashes of blood-red light instantaneously.
"Ha-ha, once I become the lord, this ancient palace will be mine. I will make sure that I will be
invincible!" Along with his diabolical declaration, Dexter burst out laughing a maleficent laugh.
"Darren, how about we go and bluff him?" Right at that very moment, a sinister plan was formed on
Hobson's mind making him grin like a bobcat.
"Yes, that's a good idea." Darren agreed at Hobson's play, and he too drew a freakish grin from ear to
ear.
"How dare you! How dare you come in? Aren't you afraid that we will kill you?"
Determined to scare the hell out of Dexter, Hobson was the first one to jump out and let out his threat.
Shouting at a holy warrior created inexplicable mirth upon Hobson that he couldn't help himself from
being overjoyed.
"Humph, how dare you come in after snatching our treasure! Kill him!"
At such an order from Darren, he and Hobson launched attacks at Dexter at the same time.
Judging from how he acted earlier, Darren and Hobson knew that Dexter was around the corner to
success. Dexter, in return, would definitely not come and attack them since he was afraid something
uncontrollable would happen.
Terrified and panic-stricken, Dexter was jumpy and jiffy. After enduring the attacks, he managed to
resist Darren's and Hobson's attacks with one palm and said, "Lads, when I become the lord, I'll blow
you into minced meat."
In fact, he wasn't worried that Darren and Hobson would come and attack him. What bothered him
most was the old man, he might come out to stop him from taking the examination.
"You son of a gun, who do you think you are? You can't kill me even if it would take you millions of
years," Hobson yelled at Dexter with a smile, his eyebrows raised. There was more of insult rather than
mockery expressed in Hobson's words.
After hearing that, Dexter was so angry that his face turned red.
Just listening on the side, Darren, on the other hand, didn't say anything. Instead, he called upon his
blade and sword intents and aimed towards Dexter.
"Go to hell!" Infuriated by Hobson underestimating him, Dexter was exceedingly enraged.
"Come on, kill us if you have the ability, which I know you haven't," Hobson said sarcastically, not
showing any signs of empathy towards Dexter. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Fuelled by another sardonic remark from Hobson, Dexter was simmering with rage and was about to
launch a Holy Will at them. Just then, the blood light in his body grew much brighter, and a dignified
face suddenly appeared above him.
To Darren's and Hobson's horror, the face was in exact resemblance with the portrait of the red-haired
monster on the wall outside.
Sensing an odd aura above him, Dexter raised his head, glanced at the face, and suddenly knelt on the
ground. On the spur of the moment, his face was filled with fear—more of veneration.
Not far away, and posed to attack Dexter, Darren and Hobson were trembling as if they saw a god.
"Such a horrifying aura. My soul is going to disperse," uttered Hobson while wiping off sweats from his
forehead. At the sight of the foreboding red-haired monster, Hobson's face went pale. The demeanor
he had earlier in mocking Dexter was replaced with timidity and distress. He took a deep breath and
tried to stop his knees from trembling too hard.
Beside him, Darren felt the same way. Except that his fright is less compared to that of Hobson's.
"Is it the holy emperor who was invincible for an era? A virtual face of him after tens of thousands of
years is enough to make a holy warrior kneel," Darren asked Hobson in a quivering voice.
A moment later, the face murmured something, and Dexter was sucked in by a black swirl, and his
body disappeared at the same time.
"Ah!"
Witnessing right before their very eyes what happened to Dexter, Darren's and Hobson's fear gradually
disappeared. They heaved a sigh of relief.
"Oh my god! He's so powerful. If only I could become a holy emperor one day," Hobson said to himself
in a small voice. As his mouth gaped wide open, his mind was with the thought that he could be as
powerful as the holy emperor one day.
"Stop daydreaming. It's challenging to become a senior holy warrior. Becoming a holy emperor requires
you to be the invincible master of an era. Do you think we can be that person?" Darren rolled his eyes
at him and discouraged him cutting short his fantasies right at that very moment.
"Can't I even dream about it at least?" A bit annoyed by Darren's expression, Hobson smacked his lips
and said, "In other words, Darren, I think you have a chance to become one. After hundreds of years or
thousands of years, you'll undoubtedly become an invincible lord in existence in the whole world."
"You're overthinking. As far as I know, my strength does not deserve to be mentioned now. Perhaps
everyone in the eighteen cities mentioned by the Lord of the Sacred Palace could crush me to death
quickly. Besides, many super-powerful warriors are more deserving around the world."
Judging from his argument, Darren was not belittling himself. His current power was nothing at all
compared to the many warriors in the Medium Spiritual World.
"Damn it! If you don't accept my compliments, I'll take them back then. You're such a loser." Hobson
laughed at Darren's loss of hope.
"Cut the crap, loser! Let's hurry up and improve our strength. If Dexter passed the examination, we
might not be able to compete with him even with the help of the old man," Darren said, seriously
ushering Hobson to go on his way and start practicing his skills.
"Okay, let's do it!" With that, Hobson jumped up and started to practice spear skills.
Left alone in the ground, Darren found a quiet place and began to assimilate spiritual energy to
enhance his cultivation base.
If they could practice inside the time and space turbulent flow, their cultivation base would increase
much faster. What a pity, they couldn't go there now and had to cultivate outside.
Darren took out one of the purple leaves and absorbed the spiritual energy with all his efforts. The
moment he stepped into the seven-star Grand Realm, his strength would improve significantly—he
couldn't wait for that to happen.
