CHAPTER 718 RETURN TO THE HOMETOWN
Darren and Theodore neared their destination.
"Stop. This is a forbidden area. No one is allowed to advance further."
A dozen law enforcers dressed in purple armor surrounded Darren and Theodore at once.
"It's you!" One of the law enforcers was surprised to see Darren. Dread reflected in his expression.
Darren also recognized the law enforcer robed in purple armor. When Eddy tried to kill him a long time
back, this law enforcer had been ordered to save Darren. However, he had slapped Darren across the
face.
At that time, he didn't think that Darren had any outstanding talent except for simultaneously cultivating
blade skill and sword skill. He believed that it would be better to assault Darren than offend Eddy.
"It's been a while since we last met, sir," Darren said in a calm voice.
The law enforcer's heart skipped a beat.
He trembled with fear when he felt Darren's aura. He had been a significantly weaker young man back
then. He also felt ashamed of how quickly he had judged Darren.
"You are too nice to me. Please punish me, Mr. Darren Chu," said the law enforcer in purple armor as
he lowered his head in fear.
But, when he looked up, Darren and Theodore had flown to the edge of Hiram the Great's halberd.
The law enforcer gazed at Darren. Complex emotions coursed through him. With a wry smile, he said,
"He just ignored me. This is worse than being slapped several times."
The long arm covered with blood scales lay quietly on the ground less than three thousand feet from
Hiram the Great's halberd.
"What a strong fiendish aura. That is really the arm of the first fiend ancestor." Theodore's expression
changed when he tried imagining how terrifying the living fiend's body was.
Darren looked at it quietly for a while. Suddenly, he felt very uncomfortable as if something was surging
inside his body.
"It's my demonic internal force! It is fighting to leave my body!" Darren was surprised as he couldn't
control the demonic internal force in his body.
Besides, he felt dizzy, as if something was calling him.
"Let's go, sir!" Darren said and flew away quickly.
Theodore caught up with Darren and asked, "What's wrong, Darren?"
"I don't know. I'm not feeling well. I think we should leave before something bad happens," Darren
replied curtly. He did not want to share the real reason with Theodore.
"The fiend's first ancestor is extremely powerful. It is normal for you to feel tremendous discomfort
when confronting its fiendish aura. But, you're right. We should leave. Let's go."
"Okay."
As they flew, Darren and Theodore spotted a vast land.
A transparent round cover enveloped the land. This was a powerful restriction that protected the people
of the Bottom Spiritual World.
But, this restriction couldn't stop cultivators at Darren's level. They stepped through the transparent
cover and landed in the Bottom Spiritual World.
"Darren, I'm returning to my clan right now, but you can't come. Otherwise, I'll have to invite you to have
some fun." Theodore smiled as he spoke.
"Ha-ha, don't worry. There will be other chances. If you meet Scott, please tell him that I have returned
and that I invite him to find me and catch up," Darren said with a smile.
"Okay, I will see if that can be arranged. Be careful, and pay attention to the people of the three great
clans."
"Thank you for the advice. See you later."
Theodore nodded and walked toward the Western Desert Island. In one step, he covered hundreds of
kilometers.
Excitement coursed through Darren as he saw the familiar mountains, felt the familiar wind, and
smelled the familiar scent.
This was where Darren had been raised. Now that he returned, his heart was full of joy and sadness.
Standing on the top of a mountain, Darren remembered his old friends.
However, when a beautiful face flashed through his mind, he became upset.
"How is she doing after all these years?" Darren murmured. He missed Elsa from the bottom of his
heart.
However, when he thought of Elsa, another face appeared in his mind. He also recalled images of the
three crazy days.
At this moment, Darren became flustered.
As a gentle breeze blew across the mountain, Darren raised his head and closed his eyes. A sense of
desolation coursed through him.
He shook off the feeling and leaped into the sky. In the blink of an eye, he crossed thousands of
kilometers and landed on another mountain.
"What?"
When he had last been here, this peak was home to the Ilmen Sect. Instead of an isolated place, he
found beautiful pavilions and houses. Darren didn't recognize any of the buildings that sparkled in the
daylight.
"Did a new sect take over the peak where Ilmen Sect used to be?" Darren sighed. The signs of the
previous fierce battle had been completely erased.
Darren flew down from the mountain peak and landed at the gate.
"Delsa Pavilion."
The name was carved on the mountain gate.
As sword intent emanated from the words carved into the gate, Darren could sense that this was the
work of a sword cultivator.
"May I ask who do you seek?"
Two disciples in white walked out from the mountain gate and asked respectfully.
If ordinary people had approached the gate, the disciples would have screamed at them. But when they
saw Darren, they felt his uniqueness. It was as if someone deep in their souls was reminding them that
they couldn't offend him.
"I want to revisit an old place. Please let me go in," Darren replied with a smile.
"Please, come in." The two disciples bowed as they made way for Darren.
"This is odd. How could I let him in without seeking the elder's permission?"
"Yeah, I also felt too captivated by him to deny him entry. It's as if I had no choice. It is so weird."
"Where is he? Why did he disappear? Oh, my God! Have we met an immortal?"
The two disciples in white were stunned.
Although Darren was walking normally, his speed was significantly quicker than an ordinary person's.
Even cultivators at the Wonder Realm could not see his figure.
Darren reached a place with two graves.
"This is a relief. The tombs of the sect leader and Mr. Wan are still here." Darren was so gratified that
he knelt and kowtowed three times in front of the tombs.
After whispering for a while in front of the two graves, Darren strode out of the place. He planned on
walking around the new sect.
"I might as well meet the person who established this sect."
Out of curiosity, Darren unleashed his spiritual sense to probe for elders. He found a man with a strong
aura in one hall.
Of course, Darren had only searched casually. The sense he got from this person was not very clear.
In a flash, Darren disappeared from the gravesite and appeared in the center of the hall.
"My name is Darren Chu. I was passing by your sect and wanted to visit you, are you..." Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Darren was so stunned that he couldn't finish his sentence.
The middle-aged man with gray temples sitting in the hall was also astonished.
He stared at Darren, unable to move for a long time. His lips trembled so much that he could not speak
a word.
"Darren!"
After a long time, he cried out excitedly.
"Elder Thomas..." Darren murmured.
"Ha-ha, ha-ha." The man strode forward and patted Darren on the shoulder with both hands.
As he stared at Darren, he could say nothing. He just smiled.
"Come, have a seat."
After a while, Thomas came to his senses and asked Darren to sit.
"Elsa, come quickly! Darren has returned."
Thomas didn't take his eyes off Darren, as he yelled at the room next to the hall.
Hearing that, Darren's heart beat fast, and he felt a lump in his throat.
Could it be? Was Elsa here? Darren wondered.
