CHAPTER 852 BARNES' CHANGE (PART ONE)
A strange, perilous attack sneaked up behind Darren, but he was able to move swiftly aside before it
could even hit him.
Even though he didn't feel the impact, he could feel its immense suppressing aura. It was as if he was
marked by something evil.
Behind him, Hanson had stretched out his hand and hit something hard with a loud bang.
Nobody knew what had caused the collision since their foes remained invisible.
Hanson's attack had distracted their invisible enemy and gave Darren the opportunity to strike back by
releasing his blade and sword intents.
A terrifying bellow broke out.
It seemed like Darren's strike had hit its intended target.
The agonized shout gave everyone else hope. This meant their enemies could still be wounded even
though they couldn't see them.
With renewed vigor, Matthew released his own killing sword intent, pushing it to its highest state. The
resulting attack was so powerful that the entire area seemed to have become a Killing Abyss.
The black fog began to stir. It was like a storm brewing as waves of dark mist surged. The creatures
behind it howled and whined, seemingly injured from the attack.
On the other side of the battlefield, the senior holy warriors of the three clans were having difficulty in
keeping the invisible beasts at bay. Their energy was nearing their depletion while some were already
severely injured. And yet the beasts behind the mist continued to fight ferociously.
The ear-splitting wail caught the senior holy warriors by surprise. They didn't expect Darren and his
companions to fight against their invisible enemies with much ease.
They pondered on how Darren and the others could have possibly done that until it finally hit them.
"It seems that Mathew's killing sword intent can somehow suppress the invisible enemies. That's how
they are able to fight them off."
With that, Chilton rallied the others to head to where Mathew was. "Everyone, let's get closer to
Mathew! His killing sword intent can cover us!"
Knowing that they didn't stand a chance against their foes, they steadily retreated to where Mathew
was.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Their invisible enemies flickered and flashed as they followed behind. The black fog drifted along to
where they were going. It seemed like they wouldn't be able to get away from the creatures.
"What a shifty swine you are, Chilton! Have you forgotten how you threatened us just a while ago? Now
you have the guts to seek for our protection!" Hanson said coldly as he watched the group come
running towards them.
"Don't be so selfish and mean! This isn't the time to hand out accusations and grudges. We have one
enemy here, so shouldn't we be helping each other out?" Chilton argued. His tone was imperious.
As they continued to bicker, they failed to notice that an attack launched towards them.
"Watch out!" Darren shouted.
But Hanson wasn't just an ordinary, weak guy. With his dark gold internal force, he was able to block
the attack without a hitch.
Then, he countered the blow with his own.
This resulted in another cry of pain coming from behind the black fog.
Once again, Chilton saw how Hanson's blade and sword skill could push the creatures back.
"Everyone, get behind Hanson. His blade and sword skills could suppress the creatures, too," his
loathsome voice echoed.
Their enemies' attacks were relentless. At the arrival of Chilton and his companions, a fresh waves of
invisible creatures arrived, doubling the tide. Hanson and Mathew attacked with all their might while the
rest of the senior holy warriors hid behind them, launching their own attacks every now and then.
It took a long time before the fight began to dwindle down.
For a moment, an eerie silence descended upon the battlefield.
But very faintly, Darren could hear a soft hissing voice.
The sound gradually grew louder until everyone could hear it perfectly clear. Anger and unease washed
over Darren as he recognized the voice.
"Damn monkey, come and show yourself!"
Unable to contain himself any longer, Darren roared at the black fog.
There was no response. Only his voice echoed back at him.
Darren was already simmering with rage. He was so sure that it was Barnes who was causing all
these.
Deep down, he regretted his decision to bring the black monkey to this land. He had misjudged just
how evil and petty the black monkey could get. It seemed like Barnes wouldn't easily give up the
chance of regaining his full strength.
'It's all my fault, ' he thought to himself. Now that he thought about it, it was unusual that he hadn't
heard anything from Barnes ever since he left the black monkey behind. He should have known better
that the black monkey wouldn't just wait and sit still. Of course, he would be hatching up a plan
somewhere.
The memory of when Barnes was forced to draw out his dodecahedral crystal came back to Darren. It
just went to show how Barnes was using the fiend's power to replenish his strength.
Nonetheless, Darren hoped he could talk some reason into the monkey. "Don't be stupid, Barnes the
Holy. Come out now. We all know what will happen if the fiend comes out. The whole world will
collapse and all creatures will be in danger. Let's be rational about this."
Finally, a voice spoke out from inside the black fog. "Don't be silly, Darren. I won't fall for your words!
When I regain my full strength, no one could defeat me, not even the fiend!"
It was indeed Barnes the Holy.
Upon hearing his voice, Darren could already sense how powerful Barnes had grown.
"Was it you who attacked us just now?" Darren roared.
"Yes, I was just testing out my newly regained strength. Do not blame me for not warning you, Darren. C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
Get out of here, or I will kill you!" Barnes gave him a vicious smile.
Darren felt a stab of pain that pierced through his heart. Barnes had proved to be cunning indeed.
He cursed himself for trusting Barnes in the first place. His naivety had blinded him of the evil plans
going on behind his back. But it was too late now. Things had gone beyond his control.
