CHAPTER 948 YOU FAILED
The whole place was covered with snow.
Darren could only feel the cold as it seeped into his skin.
It bit into his flesh and wrapped his bones, freezing him from the inside out. Darren wanted to activate
the godly fire to expel the cold in his body, but he suppressed the idea when he thought of the last
words of the Fire Spirit. He must avoid using the fire.
"Phew!"
Darren exhaled and his breath turned into ice crystals which fell on the ground.
"It's too cold!" owns this.
Darren looked around, but he could not see anything except ice and snow.
'What kind of test is this? Is this to test how well I can handle the cold?' Darren thought.
"Help! Help!''
A voice drew Darren out of his thoughts. It was a young girl.
"What?" Darren did not move. There was nothing but ice and snow. How could anyone else possibly
survive in a place like this? Darren immediately thought of the Water Spirit.
"Who can help me…
Help…"
Darren heard the girl's cries again but did not move. Instead, he sat down cross-legged and began his
cultivation.
It wasn't because he was callous. Darren had good reasons for not setting out to find the girl.
He did not fully know what he was supposed to do, so he thought that waiting was the most prudent
course of action. He believed that the Water Spirit would come to him of her own volition. If he dared to
seek her out himself, it could be dangerous for him.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The cold wind blew fiercely, scattering snowflakes around the space. The scene was breathtakingly
beautiful.
Darren allowed the snowflakes to fall on his body. A moment later, he was completely covered in snow
and the cold began to penetrate his heart.
'The small fire won't allow me to use the godly fire against the cold. Well, then... I'll just have to use the
blue ice crystal to lower my body temperature.'
This was similar to what he did during the previous test. If he matched his body temperature with the
temperature of his environment, he would not be able to feel the cold.
Darren triggered the blue ice crystal attached to the sword core. The water spiritual energy of the space
swirled around him, surrounding him completely.
"That's not right!" Darren murmured.
He could only control the blue ice crystal to condense the water spiritual energy around him into water.
The water was not freezing like he wanted it to be.
"I haven't mastered the true ice intent. I just know how to gather the water spiritual energy.' Darren
sensed that something was wrong. He could not solve the problem the way he did while he was inside
the flame zone.
There was only one way for Darren to survive: upgrade the blue ice crystal and comprehend the true
ice intent.
"Assimilate."
Darren immediately activated the Assimilation Skill. As long as he could assimilate a large amount of
water spiritual energy and integrate it into his elixir field, the blue ice crystal would be enhanced. He
would then be able to comprehend the true ice intent.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A large wave of water spiritual energy rushed into his body, compressing itself into Darren's elixir field.
The color of the blue ice crystal deepened and it exuded a chill.
While he assimilated the water spiritual energy, Darren began to analyze the essence of the true ice
intent in order to comprehend it better.
Ten days passed until Darren was able to comprehend the true ice intent.
"Humans are truly ruthless. I have cried for help countless times, but this one did not even move an
inch!"
With a wave of her hand, a girl dressed in blue removed the frost and snow that had settled on Darren.
"There you are," Darren said, smiling. 'This must be the Water Spirit, ' he thought.
However, when Darren gazed upon the woman's face, he was rendered speechless.
Her beauty surpassed anything he had ever seen, and he felt her power radiate off of her.
"You failed. Get out of here,"
the Water Spirit said, visibly irritated.
Darren struggled to regain his composure. It was only natural for beauty to bewitch humans, but he
was not about to let this woman's beauty get in the way of his plans.
"I didn't fail," Darren said calmly.
"If I say you failed, then that means you failed. Are you hard of hearing?" The Water Spirit wore a cruel
smile, which somehow only made her look more beautiful.
"Well, I'm not dead. That means I did not fail."
The Water Spirit was stunned.
"Well, I kept on calling you for help when I was stuck in that Absolute Cold Pool, but you did not come
to my rescue. To me, that makes you a failure," said the Water Spirit.
"I didn't even know what it was that you were testing me for," Darren said, narrowing his eyes.
"Ha! How amusing. Fine, I won't kill you. But, don't expect much out of me. I'm leaving now.
Since you did not follow me when I told you to leave, you're stuck here forever. Bye!" With that, the
Water Spirit disappeared.
Darren felt helpless.
He had no idea what the rules of this test were. He did not accept what the Water Spirit just told him.
How was he supposed to know that the voice that was crying out was actually a person in need and not
just some sort of trick?
'It may not be so bad to stay here, ' Darren comforted himself. It was definitely better than getting killed
or expelled.
Darren was in no mood to continue his cultivation. After all, he could now resist the cold.
Whoosh!
Darren flew up into the air and began to explore his surroundings. He was in awe at the beauty of the
snowy mountains.
For several days and nights, he flew. However, he soon grew tired of seeing the same scenery over
and over again.
'This is getting too boring, '
Darren said. It no longer looked as attractive a place as it had in the beginning.
'How can I get out of here?' Darren wondered.
He did not wish to go out of the tomb yet, but to head on to the next test. Once he passed that, the Fire
and Water Emperor Character would finally be his.
"Water Spirit, show yourself! Let me take the test again!" Darren shouted towards the sky. He waited for
a few seconds but there was no reply.
"Come out!" Darren shouted again, to no avail.
"Damn it! What am I supposed to do?" Darren thought aloud. He could not leave here without passing
the test.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
For once, Darren felt powerless. He sat down on the snow, defeated. Loneliness crept into his heart as
the wind blew on his skin.
