Christmas Special: Sun and Moon(Part 1)

The flowing wind cascading over the shining night, descending its pure snow in the vast distance. A city underneath the twilight, the people enjoying an event.

Trees lining far, leading into a theme park. Children running to a large man in a red suit, others engaging in a scavenger hunt.

From down the street, Atlalune and Sol in thick clothes. The knight holding her wife's hand, these two relishing in the scene. Both shortly stopping, sitting down on a bench together.

"I know I rushed us a bit, but I really wanted to return in time for this." Sol smiling at the ex- mercenary.

"It is fine, I don't get it though. It's just like any other day. Now that I think about it, Cyra loves Halloween as well." Atlalune's finger to her chin.

"We each must have a holiday we like, right? For me it is Christmas." The mage pleasant holding onto her partner's arm.

"Not me, it was just another day for me. If I made it to the end of the year, I called it fortunate due to being a knight and then a mercenary." Glancing to the person.

An individual born in the slums of Valice, shakily living each day. Eventually stepping forward, becoming a knight to the kingdom.

Misfortune striking her, shifting her angle to a mercenary, someone desiring to bring meaning to the demise of the princess. The many passing years, Atlalune now living her life with one to her heart.

"It must have been hard, and while Elade has done what he could. It looks like the current Royal Family is not putting in much time into addressing the class living conditions." Sol sadly looking below.

"I know, and it is ticking me off. Maybe I'll personally go have a talk with them, and remind them that we are the reason Valice is still standing." The ex-mercenary looking away in some disgust.

"I already made mention of that." A man's voice to her.

A knight in Valice again, the passing years not addressing much. These frustrating sentiments in her, her boiling blood. The two looking to the person walking in, an old man in thick white clothes smiling at them.

"Ah Ethan, looking good as usual." Sol grinning at him.

"Haha, it ain't easy getting old. Makes me jealous of you two who don't age." The sighing man.

"Heh, it is not easy on our ends as well. The Royal Family asks for more, and delivers less. I am at the point, where I am ready to remind them on who we are." Atlalune gesturing her hand to her friend.

"I feel your frustration, which was why I went to make requests to the Royal Family to try and address the class indifference, to get things moving forward." Ethan standing on his side.

"You didn't have to do that, you should be enjoying your later years." The mage grimly resting her hand on her chest.

"I have more time than I know what to do with it. Speaking of, I got a message from your previous family Sol. That or should I say, a small girl that needs your help." The former knight taking out a letter.

The noble-woman cutting her ties from her family years ago, choosing to live free with her partner.

A knight putting their safety on the line, refusing to allow the mage to fall into despair. An action eternally wrapping around the young woman, a precious person giving her the world.

"They have some nerve contacting me." Sol sternly looking at him, folding her arms.

"I agree, but what is this about a small girl?" Atlalune's hand to her chin.

"The message was actually from a maid there, who relayed the girl's urgency to you two. You see, the family kept falling further and further into ruin after you freed Sol, Atlalune. In their desperation, they sold the girl to the mob in that city." Ethan shaking his head in disbelief.

"I knew I should have burned that family to the ground." The knight scowling, looking away a bit.

"The maid deeply cares for the girl, she was like a mother to them. So they came up with a plan to at least get this message to you two. I know you both despise that family, but will you do it? This is also a job, given that the mob has been a pain for the Royal Family for a long time. Exterminating them entirely will be a massive help." Ethan scratching the back of his head.

"I thought I would never have to see them again, but I do want to help her. Lune..." Sol sadly looking to her wife.

"What a pain, fine. We will go and meet with the maid, and get further details. However, I expect the pay to be double." Atlalune folding her arm, her eyes to the former knight.

"Haha, you never change. Sure, it is a high rank mission, so this can be arranged." Ethan turning from them.

"Good, join us for a bit at our home. You can give us some more details there." The ex-mercenary faintly smiling at him.

These few souls underneath the moonlight, feeling the cold breeze on them. Time keeping two the same, yet aging those around them.

Atlalune soon leading the way to their home, shortly arriving at the area. A large house with two floors, flowers surrounding the structure.

"You two are referred to as goddesses, given how long you've been here. In actuality, the people here have more faith in you both than the Royal Family." Ethan folding his arms.

"A bit exaggerative on the goddess part." Sol uneasily smiling at him, her hand to her chest.

"Maybe so, but you both take on jobs that addresses their actual issues." The former knight's hand behind his head.

"It is simply business. People are willing to pay to get their problems solved, we just provide the service to it." Atlalune's hand on her waist, her eyes to her side.

"Right, just be-careful. As it stands now, the support for you both are growing. Which means, the Royal Family might be noticing, there is no telling what this generation will do." The man folding his arms, his serious vision.

Two living their lives in Valice, venturing out into the vast worlds with one another. Both assisting others back home with their troubles, garnering support far and wide.

The many passing years, the Royal Family slowly transforming into something else. The ex-mercenary concerning with her partner, wishing to keep them safe from the problems in the kingdom.

"Right, Sol and I have already been talking, that it might be best to move." Atlalune gripping her arms, her vision to the sky.

"As much as I hate to move, Valice isn't the home I remember. The Royal Family of this generation, they are consumed by their own greed entirely. The amount of jobs we are requested of, the distance we have to travel to fulfill them. The weight is quite heavy." The mage sadly looking below.

"There is no telling what might happen if you both are gone. The stress on the people might become so great, that it causes a civil war. Your efforts have only barely kept them afloat. Atlalune, Sol. I need your help later, we need to confront the Royal Family on a number of issues on top of the class indifference." Ethan slightly looking to his side.

"Fine, but if Sol is put in too much danger. I am taking her, and getting far away from this place." The ex-mercenary facing him.

"Lune, I will be fine. I want to at least try and put Valice back on a prosperous path." Sol warmly grinning at her.

"Thanks you both. I am an old man, but I want to at least do something for Valice before I kick the bucket." Ethan faintly smiling at them.

A former knight forever holding his values, not wishing to see the many efforts go up in flames. Two still with him, lending him their aid.

The three making their way into the house, soon standing in the living room. A table at the center, couches lining around it in a square. Pictures from the old days on the walls, a television hanging on the north end.

"Let's sit down and take it easy for a bit, we can discuss the problem with Sol's family as well." Atlalune walking ahead.

"I'll get some hot chocolate ready, a perfect time for it I will say." Sol pleasantly resting her hand on her chest.

"Thanks, always looking forward to it." Ethan smiling at her.
