Bonus Scene From a New Male Knight:

Hopeless Night

The death of our king, this maddening night. The chilling wind, something else resting in its depths. Standing outside of the castle, hearing howling in the distance. A thick foul stench, my churning stomach. A shame this is, recently making it amongst their ranks, hoping to gain my king’s acknowledgment.

The Prince nowhere, and the Princess in a state of concern. My wandering mind, wishing to know the reason for this. Why are the gods wrath on us? Why is this happening now?

I can ask these questions, and no answers will come in this unsettling dusk. Walking around the parameter, my heavy footsteps. This red armor on me, hoping for its protection. My eyes on the trees nearby, rustling from the bushes, my beating chest. Alarming this is, defensively holding my spear ahead.

Creeping closer, unable to speak. Something coming into view, a beast on two legs. Silver fur, a man and wolf. A werewolf, just my fortune in the worsening night. That howling monster, its furious eyes towards me.

“C—can I even win against this thing?”

My trembling legs, witnessing our numbers steadily dwindling in the madness. No matter, this terror cannot stop me. Our king, he will no doubt swallow his fear and push ahead. This I have to do, and so I charge at them.

Plunging my weapon into the ground, launching myself higher. The elevation giving me a better position with my spear, my eyes on the target below. Descending on it, screaming out. Their swift strike, everything slowing down. Shortly realizing I am on the ground on my back, blood pooling around me.

My weak body, that beast walking away. Trying my best, this not enough. My vision to the crimson moon, its unsettling presence. Taking it in, shortly closing my eyes, this being my time to rest.
