Chapter 17: Deep Darkness(Part 1)

—The Past Revisited—

Days from old, the warm shining sun, the endlessly flowing wind. A world existing far above, many floating platforms connecting through chains. That old gate stretching tall, ancient symbols burning on it.

That Seraph floating above the ground, Maria distantly looking over the clouds. This demon often seeking the gaps in her past, an empty feeling within her. A sigh leaving her, folding her arms. Standing guard, keeping out invaders, an unlikely occurrence.

"Here again?" a familiar voice to her.

Hearing that one, her old friend coming once more. Turning in his direction, his hands inside of his pockets. The brightly smiling deity, someone always thinking of something.

Those empty days, yearning for the mysteries within her. Watching the moving clouds, standing guard, her rising emotions. Her hazy memories, sorrow from the past. This person continuously coming, taking away some of her pain.

"This is my job." Folding her arms, her slight smile.

Expecting her response, his awareness on the depths of her suffering. Enduring it, her overwhelming display. Constantly failing her, wanting to right his wrong.

Scratching the back of his head, looking down a bit. Feeling the gentle breeze, the warm sun on them. A promise two hundred years prior, his helplessness in those days.

Her voice reaching countless, a demon shouting her soul. Creating a chance for her deepest desire to become a reality, a god remaining at her side.

"Oh come on—" walking towards her, stopping beside her.

His eyes on the moving clouds, Maria facing in his direction. Burying herself in her work, barely having any fun. Her many sins, that deity wondering if this is her way of punishing herself.

Remembering her pain, the weight of her despair. A god diving into the abyss, continuously trying to reach her. Her tormenting agony, her anguish.

An action long ago, her smile going away, leaving behind a farce. Words never meeting her, that young woman needing him more than ever, her great sorrow.

"—no ones gonna invade, and even if they do, it's not like it will be a problem to take care of." Valor assuring her.

"I am aware, but just as myself, you should be doing your job." Her hand on waist, her voice a bit serious on him.

One never changing, always keeping her focus. Her relentless resolve, those branding emotions. The laughing deity, waving his arms in front of her in disbelief. This friend remaining true to himself, his childish heart.

A realm underneath his command, putting into place others to do the hard work. A god moving at his own leisure, his strict companion, constantly teaching him the reason for responsibility.

"We both know I won't do that. So, you wanna sneak outta here?" smiling at her.

Some annoyance from the devil, her companion scratching his cheek with his index finger. Setting an example, separating her work and casual time. Her sincere smile in the earlier days, one once filling with love for the worlds.

Consuming in hatred, seeking after her deepest desire. Many more forming within her, shouting her soul. The greatest demon to live, her soft heart. His mind wandering back to a certain night, an action leading her down this path.

His own inability to reach her, constantly diving into the abyss after her. Wanting to atone, yearning for their time to truly meet again. Maria noticing his movements, a deity trying to do something for years, answers continuously eluding her.

"You must complete your work first." Her firm voice, holding down her hands.

"Ya know, you can be such a stick in the mud." Sighing, disappointment in his voice.

One always like a child, his many efforts, constantly planning something. Their short time, having to fulfill their duties first. A friend keeping him in line, guiding him in her light.

Yearning for her presence again, patiently awaiting her return. Passing along the days, playing on her softer side. A devil knowing this, his successful attempts now and then, that maiden increasing her strictness at times.

"Apologies, but I will not have you neglect your duties." Folding her arms.

"Damn those gods...they musta put you up to this..." Slightly frowning, looking away.

Magi's expecting his nature, a deity continuously avoiding his work, refusing his responsibility. His vision on another, trying hard to make up for the past.

Witnessing his companion's sorrow, bearing the weight of her despair. Never forgetting, a demon enduring so much, falling into blackness. Eventually standing against the gods, damning the Nine Worlds.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

His inability to reach out to her again, a promise two hundred years prior gripping his heart. That young woman living in ignorance, atoning in her own way.

"Valor, go complete your work, it will not take long." Maria's firm voice.

Disappointingly looking below, another day going by. The deity thinking back to the older times, an adventure around every direction. That maiden leading the way, pulling him along with her. Her bright smile in those days, two hearts in the wind.

No matter the morrow, no matter the sorrow, these companions pushing through together. Turning from her, thinking on a dreadful night long ago. Their parting to his mind, an event forever engraving into him, two never truly finding the other again.

"Fine..." Valor sighing, reluctantly agreeing.

"Good." Satisfaction from Maria.

Calming a bit, her patience with him. This despair inside of her, unsettling emotions within her. Familiar actions from her old friend, comfort within her dread. Sentiments clawing away inside of her, fear gripping at her.

That young woman burying those feelings, pushing it out of mind. Facing her direction, the deity gazing at her wings. Her purely shining feathers, warmth enveloping the area. Hope from her, one able to set light on the path.

"You always take such good care of your wings." Faintly smiling, folding his arms.

Some embarrassment coming over her, slightly looking away. Taking pride in her wings, standing above of those below. Her deep emotions, darkness gripping at her core. These conflicts feelings, yearning for what is within.

Despair clawing away at her soul, one holding both divinity and malice in her. Endlessly soaring, the land not restricting her. No matter the challenges ahead, a demon continuously flying into the eye of the storm.

"These wings are a symbol of how far I came, I take great pride in them." Her calm voice.

Her life on the land, these wings of hers. Refusing to bind, rising from the lowest rank. Stepping on a plain far above her own, her sounding soul. Her great sorrow, that deity witnessing it.

Still thinking on a way to tackle it, a time eventually coming for their next confrontation. Failing multiple times, his uneasy heart. His eyes on her wings, her care for them.

"I see, makes sense...still..."

Motioning his hand to her wing, touching it, her careful eyes on his movement. Hostility still inside, an eternal torment never leaving her, unease at her core. Her slowly crawling skin, some frustration from her eyes.

Her gripping despair, her many emotions. Trying to calm herself, this one being her closet friend. A god never harming her, yet this building hatred within her. Her quivering heart, her shaking hands.

"You should really learn to take a rest now and then..."

Her steadily fading anger, her settling heart, his gentle touch. Familiar sentiments returning to her, her hazy memories. That young woman trying to remember, these close feelings. Thinking on her prior sentiments, wondering on her aggression.

The deity growing a bit careless, plucking a feather. Some alarm to the maiden, her jumping heart. Valor looking at it in his hand, shortly glancing to his companion. Her burning fury, his pale expression, that profusely sweating god.

"I—I'm so sorry! It was an accident!" uneasily stepping back.

His desperately pounding heart, that hatred deep in her eyes. Allowing him to approach her, this deity plucking a feather. His eyes on the object in his hand, hastily trying to think of a solution.

His attention shortly on her, an idea to his mind, this long shot. An action sullying her pride, but something more hiding away in her past.

"L—look! It will go back on..." Moving up to her.

Her annoyance at him, seeing the deity proceeding onward. His unfavorable chance, hoping for the best. His quickly pounding chest, his clear fear.

Trying to connect the feather to her wing, her increasing aggression. The air tickling against him, an urge building within him, attempting to resist the end result.

"Achoo!!" sneezing, blowing even more feathers into the wind.

Feeling his fading life by the moment, those feathers moving away in the breeze, scattering on the ground. Work certainly a better choice to his mind, his hasty heart. Looking to his old friend, malevolence burning from her.

Taking leniency on him, this one striking a nerve. Her building hatred, her overflowing emotions. Those insecurities, all of it concentrating into her darkness. That maiden trying to resist, this one unable to do so.

"You...!" great anger from her voice.

Gulping, the deity slowly backing away from her, electricity immensely surging from her body. This intensely vibrating area, that god quickly looking from left to right.

Lightning rushing in every direction, caging him in a prison. His desperately pounding chest, praying, hoping for a miracle. Those expanding wings, darkness merging with her electrical force.

That demon ascending into the air, Reviver in her hand. Floating high above, looking down at him, her deep fury. Attempting to calm herself, these endless sentiments within her. Insecurities grabbing at her, her crawling skin.

"Unforgivable!" her harsh tone.

Her penetrating words, his actions linking to those feelings. These never leaving her, one constantly battling against it. His memories to the past, remembering those tormenting days.

His companion binding in shackles, unable to fly away. Her horrific experiences, his ignorance triggering her trauma. Her high emotions, that unstable devil. Her intensely sparking electricity, malice burning even brighter.

"I—I'm sorry!!!" pleading to her.

The turning deity, trying to find any way out of his predicament. This careful demon, trapping him in an inescapable prison. Shortly facing her, looking up to her, witnessing her rapidly building electricity.

Twirling Reviver in her right hand, locking onto her target. Those emotions within her, helplessness from the past. Her vision on the god, that lightning intensifying by the second.

"I—I did not mean to offend!" his desperate hand to her.

Sentiments deep inside, her boiling hatred. Agony gripping at her heart, these strange feelings. Her slightly widening eyes, her assault ready for discharge.

Directing her staff at the deity, unleashing her lightning on him in this moment. The shaking world, Valor uneasily looking on. Her nearing attack, the prison holding him in place.

"I should have been more careful. Fine, allow me to take on your sorrow..." His distant vision.

That energy crashing around him, ripping away at everything in the heavens. His arm in front of him, a barrier shielding him. That striking electricity, breaking apart the surrounding platform.

Unleashing more power, tearing against his barrier. His uneasy expression, resisting her force. His cracking shield, his shattering defense. Lightning crushing down, devastatingly colliding into him.

"Aa...aaa...aaahhh!!!"

Breaking apart the platforms, shattering those chains. Slamming down electricity, Valor enduring her severity. Her distressing eyes, this unforgivable action, yet sympathy in her vision.

A warm light washing over the area, massive rocky objects falling below. Despair clawing at her heart, her never healing pain. Punishment on him, her soft heart remaining.
