Chapter 4: Longing Heart(Conclusion)

Days from the past, times once free. Ignorance leading their way, not aware of the truth. Believing in her direction, performing her duties. Minimizing contact, a hindrance from attachments. Her dangerous line of work, alarming situations. Growing in experience, her sharp direction. Her high standing, a reliable one. Bringing victory, many idolizing her. Ascending through the ranks, a ferocious individual. Few capable in combatting her, her talent on the battlefield. Night filling the sky, this quiet area.

Some walking the town, buildings around. A fountain flowing at the center, some trees lining the path. A massive cathedral, those pillars on opposite sides. Stairs leading higher, two inside of it. Benches parallel to each other, candles lighting the way. Statues around the corners, a great one towards the back. A commander facing it, his hands behind him. A man in his thirties, his shimmering white armor, those eyes of the sea. That young woman behind him, her black protection. Her hand to her chest, saluting this person. Returning from her job, making her report.

"The threats have been eliminated, but I did notice a bit of something. That it almost seems coordinated, which is strange. I tried looking into it, but came up empty handed."

"I see, well done. The strange occurrence will be evaluated on our end, you can submit a more thorough report later." Informing her.

"I will do so first thing tomorrow." Assurance from her.

"Very well, but there is something I wish to ask you." Facing her.

"What is it?" slightly tilting her head.

Those working in this line, venturing away from home. Tasks upon them, completing it. Points of interest, filing a report. Efficiency at hand, minimizing risks. Remembering that job, a massive threat. Coordination in it, weirdness in this. Exploring further, gathering information. Identifying a pattern, uncertainty in her chance. Retreating for now, relaying this knowledge to her superior. Value in her, one bringing glory to their cause. Rising through the ranks, tackling harder challenges. Devotion of her, wishing to bring enlightenment to this misery.

"Are you truly fine with endangering yourself like this?" folding his arms.

"I do not understand what you mean..." This confusing her.

"Isa...I have known you since your days as a grunt. For the longest while, you severed connections. You found it a hindrance, and focused on your job. Though, the shift in your schedule, and how you spend your time now. It is one thing to go out there, with no one to return to. It is another to do so, knowing there is someone." His calm voice.

Those earlier days, her clear point. Not bonding with anyone, secluding herself from others. Minimizing contact, focusing on her job, defeating countless. Carrying her beliefs within, working underneath the church. A fierce individual, many fearing her. Numerous not understanding her, another side far within. A chance of a night, two meeting underneath the crimson light. An encounter leading to more, their growing bond. A concerning companion, remembering this. Conflicting sentiments, her hand to her chest. Her job on one end, that girl on the other.

"This is why, I would like you to perform your duties on the inside."

Words ringing through her, this suddenly on her. Starting in a low position, patrolling this town. A coming moment, those doubting her. Experience not with her, her resolve to this one. Giving her a chance, her great challenge. Strategizing her way, creating a miracle in a devastating situation. This elevating her, talent hiding away. Continuing her training, a commander teaching her much. Watching her from afar, worrying about her. Possibilities in life, those limiting themselves. Similarly to their sword, forcing ahead. That trembling young woman, stepping forward.

"My use is much more out there than in here, you know this..." Unease from her.

"I agree, but there are ways to help, without constantly worrying your friend." His hand on his waist.

"A friend, yes! But that is it! I didn't come this far, just to be shoved back to a grunt!" swinging out her arm.

Working through the ranks, starting low. Everyone ignoring her, never giving her a chance. This frustrating her, her beliefs within. Performing her duties, going beyond. Wanting to venture out, misery constantly around. Yearning to silence it, that coming moment. A sword piercing this madness, those coming to know her. Not caring for this, desiring her path. Coldness from her, distancing herself from others. Flowing streams, her straight direction. One entering in, crossing with her own. Their close bond, these beating emotions. Learning much, appreciating that pure one.

"You are much more than a grunt, Isa. I won't let you throw away your life, for a cause that is likely to never end. You have done enough, now it is time to venture down a new path in your life." Calmly closing his vision.

"Y—you can't be serious here..." Stepping away, dread in her eyes.

"My decision is final. However, keep up with your training, in case a significant threat arises." Opening his vision, gazing at her.

Stillness from her, this devastating news. Moving through the ranks for years, starting from nothing. Proving herself, those relying on her. This one before her, watching from afar, concerning with her. Leading a cold life, distancing herself from others, focusing on the job. Not wishing for her to throw away everything, observing her changes. One of their best, her talents outside. Recognizing this, other ways to serve the church. Moving her to this town, quivering inside. Scowling from her, facing away. Walking onward, shortly finding herself outside. Residing at the bottom of the stairs, holding in these emotions. A nearing presence, her attention ahead. That friend approaching her, shortly standing in front of her. Her grey top, her black dress wrapping below.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

"What happened?" Elina worryingly holding her hand to her chest.

"My duties have been shifted to this town..." That young woman frustratingly looking away.

Everything slipping out of her hands, unable to understand this reason. Performing beyond expectations, continuously improving. Jobs to her attention, not refusing it. Traveling afar, planning out her attacks. Defeating countless, bringing slightly less misery. These endless tides, anguish to her awareness. Coldness from her, pressing onward. A weapon of her, cutting down innumerable. Pushing out others, focusing on her line of work. This changing on a certain night, an action shaping her way. This one before her, sadness from the maiden. A relieving situation to the hazel one, yet unable to accept it. A choice not from the young woman, a confusing dilemma.

"Why...? You love this work, and you never fail them..." Her vision below.

Beating inside of her, an infuriating decision. Senselessness in it, trying to rationalize this. Leading her life this way, connecting to one. Thinking on it, her own decisions linking to this. Her pace on completing her jobs, adjustments in her schedule. Efficiency of her work, this not mattering. One noticing, that commander of hers. These tormenting feelings, a heavy burden on her. Not wishing to speak about it, her low mood. Stressfully sighing, a problem for herself. Her hand behind her head, shaking it from left to right.

"Never-mind this, what are you doing here?" calming a bit.

"Oh...I...just came to make a report..." Gripping her upper arm, slightly looking away.

"I guess I'll join you, nothing else to do at the moment." Folding her arms, her attention above.

"You sure...?" marginally gazing at the maiden.

"Honestly, I think I will try to convince the commander to reconsider his stance." Turning from her.

Never stopping, determination of her way. Proceeding over her years, rising to her challenges. Everything towards her goal, her feverish resolve. An igniting soul, not idly sitting by. Going out there, pushing against the harsh tides. Strategizing her way, making up for her shortcomings. Starting low, progressing far above. This going away, not accepting it. That innocent girl standing there, this not surprising her. Her hand to her chest, not stopping the young woman. A bit frustrating, concerning with this person. Someone conscious of their companion’s passion, supporting it.

"Right, maybe he will change his decision..." Sadness from her.

That one walking a lonely path, not aware in the value of others. Another trailing from a distance, her aching heart. A meeting between two, this changing their course. Their growing bond, an enormous weight on that hazel one. Wishing for the other to cease for a bit, wanting her companion to consider her actions more. Following her up the stairs, both making their way through the room. That commander looking at them, Isa’s stern eyes. This not surprising him, knowing her nature. Two soon before him, that girl making her report, the other facing away.

"Well done Elina, and Isa...I have decided on what would be a more fitting job for you." Folding his arms.

Turning towards him, visions on one another. Wondering on this, a chance of a difference. That earlier decision, this upsetting her. Unable to understand it, heading out. That hazel person coming along, an encounter leading to this moment. A tense situation, her rank riding on this line. That girl with her, quietness from her. Importance of this to her friend, her attention a bit below. Conflict at times, a bond linking to this trouble. Cherishing that innocent one, balancing her life. Steadily moving along a new path, her commander witnessing this.

"Elina performs many duties, much to her own choosing as well. It will be a good idea to be her guard, to protect her while she is out there." Gesturing his arm to the maiden.

Not changing his position, confining her to this place. Loneliness of her path, wandering in blackness. Pushing out others, solidifying her heart. A sword of her choice, cutting down countless. Rising to her challenges, her feverish resolve. Believing in her direction, minimizing contact. Slowly changing, some emotions existing inside. This growing over the passing time, a pattern in it. These agonizing sentiments, a mockery of her abilities. Unleashing her temper, stepping forward. That companion witnessing this, her friend not backing down.

"Why are you doing this? I do not understand...answer me!" stomping on the land.

Not caring about their position, her capabilities making up for this. An infuriating situation, efforts over her years. Everything slipping out of her hands, her boiling hatred, glaring at that one ahead of her. Holding his ground, his calm posture. Rightfulness in her anger, an amazing individual. Glancing at the girl, sadness from her. Gripping her upper arm, lowering her head. One not realizing her words, tremendous weight in them. Remaining in silence, not speaking up. His attention on the young woman, his hands behind his back. Another lesson for this maiden, guiding her in his own way.

"In time you will figure it out, trust me." Faintly smiling at her.

An unbelievable situation, everything crashing down around her. One in that abyss, unable to move forward. Nothing around, lowering her head. Holding her arms, her shaking body. A strange person, concealing his message. Having her figure it out, senselessness in this. Heavily breathing, trying to contain her temper. That commander passing the two, shortly leaving the place. Those friends with each other, silence in the area. Grimness from the hazel one, biting her lower lip. Carefully proceeding, her sounding voice.

"Sorry...I am causing you so much trouble..." Sadly looking away.

Standing in that darkness, someone else within it. Facing behind, that innocent one. Disappointment in her vision, grabbing her arms. Two bonding over the passing time, developing sentiments. Happiness between them, treasuring those moments. A dangerous job, enduring this. Watching her friend walk away, loving her job. Niceness in it, yet constantly worrying her. Pausing for a bit, this situation to the young woman. Slightly lowering herself, some guilt inside of her, moving towards this pure one. Her approaching presence, Elina’s vision ahead. Her companion there, her attention marginally away. Thinking for a bit, shortly gazing into those azure eyes. Extending her hands, gripping her friend's own, this girl's quickly beating heart.

"I apologize...I did not mean it like this, it is a lot for me at once. Though, since it is you, I think everything will be fine." Her soft smile.

These meaningful words, happiness from them. One a bit more aware, steadily finding her way. This black path, a shining light. An adjustment to her direction, one doing enough. Words making more sense, leading her onward. Mysteries of the world, this surprising her at times. A sword of her life, devoting herself to her job. Blocking out others, firmness from her. Her slight exposure, that cracking blade. Shattering into pieces, uncertainty in her route. A new start, pushing forward. That hazel one at her side, looping her arm around her partner's own. This bright individual, the young woman listening to her.

Commander...I finally understand. I didn't know what I had...until I lost her. I spent my life being a sword, and when I broke, only then did I find my way. Elina...sorry...for the problems I caused you...
