Chapter 4: Two Souls(Part 3)

Still reaching after her goal, her mind on her target. Two souls merging together, their presence with each other. This knowledge to the maiden, steadily finding her answer.

That researcher thinking back to the previous days, these warm feelings to her heart. The mercenary pursuing her path, wanting to bring closure to the past.

The noble-woman's increasing sentiments, walking alongside the knight, something more building between them. Those few making their way to the castle's throne room, shortly presenting themselves before the king.

"You were truly one of our best, Atlalune." His faint smile.

"I was no better than the rest..." Her eyes to her side.

"That is not true, you did quite remarkable work back then. And now, you have the power of three gods." Folding his arms.

Talent from the slums, an individual joining as a disposable. Her determination on the battlefield, surpassing her challenges. Catching the eye of another, her commander bringing her under their wing.

Training the maiden, guiding her to a position in the Royal Order. That action leading to more, her meeting with the princess. These two growing closer over time, a knight devoting herself to one to her heart.

"Enough, I am here to inform that I have reasonable suspicion on the person responsible for Estelle's demise." Her hand on her waist.

"I will hear you out." The king's serious eyes on her.

"There were only a few who could get to Estelle. Myself, her best friend. You, and the third being Rona. Taking it further, I would never harm her. You gave me a chance to free her, which leaves Rona. Who was missing during the time of the attack, up until I arrived." Her hand to her chin.

"If so, then why was the plan for the attack found in your quarters?" bracing back in his seat.

"Was it ever verified to be mine? During the time of this, I was well on my way to assassinate the king of Laquel. Though, when I arrived, he was not there. I was met with an ambush, and when I searched the area. That was when I found the plan for the invasion, it was timed for when I would not be in Valice. The best way to get to Estelle, would have been to remove me from the picture. And from there, if I did not die, the pieces would be set into place to frame me. With Rona having high support from you and the people, it wouldn't have been difficult to create a vulnerable point. Either she or another would gain from the princess' demise as a result." Folding her arms.

Fitting together these pieces, one person in her mind. Some missing parts, her uncertainty on the entirety. Having to hold onto her hope, pushing onward in the madness. Thinking hard on the knowledge, inserting her timeline into the equation.

These angles to her, a point missing to put it together. The location of the deity, that fragment able to accurately point to the individual. This knowledge to Ethan and the king, both considering the possibility.

"I do not have any hard evidence to back this, but I do have one thing." Facing the noble-woman.

Deeply thinking on her choice, certain knowledge to the maiden. Not knowing the reaction, that person living unaware of it. A chance before the knight, a way to clear her name.

Her quickly beating chest, those precious days. Cherishing them, her goal in mind. These clashing emotions, pushing forward in her path. Needing to press onward, a benefit to eliminate her enemies.

"Estelle merged her soul with Sol's own to save her, and she came to save me against Ishra. If I did kill her, then why would she come to my aid? Not once have I betrayed her, and you know this." Looking back to the king.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"Wh--what...?" Sol shockingly stepping back.

"Princess Estelle merged her soul with another...?" Ethan surprisingly looking at the mage.

"Ethan...analyze her. If it is true, then Atlalune's name will be cleared..." The king's tense expression.

Two souls in one, both merging together. That person with the eyes of the sun, her behavior reflecting another. Her own quirks to her, these mixtures in a single place. That researcher uneasily gripping her arms, seeing the man approaching her.

Fear within her, something else boiling inside of her. Ethan shortly before her, using a device to scan her. Noting a strange combination, pulling up data from the princess. Comparing the information to each other, ascertaining the validity.

"It is true, princess Estelle's soul is fused with hers." The warrior placing away the device.

"I see...Atlalune, no amount of apology would make this right. You are now free from your charges." His eyes to her.

Carrying her burden for years, enduring the wrongful accusation. Her concern with bringing meaning to the demise of her companion, these steady developments. Her name no longer in the mud, an action freeing her from one set of trouble.

Her vision to the researcher, someone struggling with the knowledge. Falling to her knees, gripping her arms. Thinking on the previous days, those actions by the knight. These emotions within her, doubting them.

"It must be a great shock to you, but please...let me look upon my daughter." The king pleading to her.

This crushing weight on the young woman, learning more about the incident on that dreadful night. Her life slipping almost away, a strange force coming to her. Merging with her, healing her injuries.

Her changing eye colors, her strange behavior. Continuing her passion, not thinking much on it. Information shaking her, the researcher unable to speak. That knight walking to her, kneeling to the mage, her hands on their shoulders.

"Sol is not your daughter, it would be weird to ask her of such." Glancing back to the king.

"Oh...I suppose you are right. Please, forgive a selfish old man." Sadly looking down.

Acting without thinking, his daughter's soul with another. Two combining, making up for the loss in parts. These emotions within the noble-woman, deeply questioning them. A mercenary going far, crushing her opponents.

Not stopping, everything in direction to one. These feelings to the mage, wondering if they belong to another. The maiden steadily aiding her friend to her feet, giving her some time.

"I will look into Rona, but can you tell me why you are here?" his vision to the knight.

"Sol might be able to locate Tiamat, and that can likely lead to the person behind their summoning. My mission will not end, not until both are dead." Folding her arms.

"I see, then feel free to use our resources."

An unlikely meeting on a night, that quirky individual setting her on a path back to Valice. A situation playing out well, her name now free. Resources freely available to her, yet a damaging outcome to another.

Two shortly out in the hallway, the young woman looking away from the knight. These sentiments within her, her soul fusing with another.

"I am my own person, not Estelle. Have you just been looking at me like I was her?" anger in her eyes.

Thinking further back, those strange actions at times. Connecting these pieces over the passing time, her unsettling heart.

Her time with the maiden in the previous few days, those warm feelings. Standing in darkness, harsh waves crashing against her.

Pushing against it, reaching for the surface. Screaming out, her conflicting sentiments in her. Atlalune not speaking, her uncertainty on proceeding.

This silence frustrating the mage, these emotions to her. Wondering if they are her own or Estelle's, Sol’s eyes on the turning mercenary.

"Answer me!" depressingly lowering her head.

"You are your own person, those were Estelle's words." Atlalune slightly looking away.

"I don't want to know her words, I want to know yours..." Sol facing away, gripping her arms.

The sinking young woman, drowning in her despair. Searching for an answer, these emotions within her. Another below, the princess looking at her. Watching her descent, her sad eyes. Shifting her gaze to an individual diving in, their hand to the noble-woman.

Estelle softly smiling, her hands to her chest. Shining light in the blackness, the knight's vision to the one from her past. Closing her eyes for a bit, deciding on her direction.

Shortly opening her vision, descending to Sol. Atlalune facing the mage, walking up behind her. Grasping her solution, wrapping her arms around this one.

Extending her hand in the abyss, grabbing hold of the sun. Pulling her above, holding her in her embrace. The researcher's reddening face, her increasing heart rate.

"Estelle is gone, and you are you. Live your life how you always have been, and do not doubt yourself. Keep smiling, and keep shining that light you have in you." Her soft, encouraging voice.
