Chapter 3.5: A Bright Light

The steadily passing days, yet no progress being made. Though, something more would enter into my lonely world, filling the empty void...

The passing time, two searching high and low. Unable to find anything on the goddess' brother, yet a closer friendship growing. A deity's devotion leading to a chance encounter, meeting a strange one at a church.

Deciding to take a chance, accepting the girl's aid. Both setting off, their aim to unravel a mystery. These two standing underneath a tree this day, Dabria enjoying some sweets.

"Ava, you should try some." Her bright smile to the maiden.

"Sorry, but I do not have much of an appetite." Slightly looking away.

A heart constantly searching, running in the darkness. Diving into horrors, turning over every stone. Nothing coming up, her increasing unease.

The girl seeing the maiden's troubles, trying to think of a way to settle their unrest. A sister's determination, keeping a message firmly within her. Not letting go of it, feverishly pursuing her direction.

"It makes no sense, someone just does not disappear...!" Ava's frustration.

"There are bound to be places we haven't look, we will find him." The girl's sad eyes to the goddess.

I looked at her, about to lash out. Though, when I saw her, I just could not bring myself to do it. I knew she only meant well, and she was right either way. There are places we have not looked, we just have to find them...

Tearing apart every day, waking up to nightmares. Those never leaving memories, her brother screaming out to her. A sister making him a promise, these feelings eternally within her.

Bottling her emotions, containing her sorrow. Proceeding alone for a long time, pushing through her obstacles. Another coming into her dark world, shining light on her road. The goddess shortly taking a sweet, soon consuming it.

"Want to help me out with some of the services I do? Something might turn up on the way." Dabria softly smiling at the maiden.

"Sure, it is better than doing nothing." Ava folding her arms, her gentle vision on the girl.

Now and then I would help her with her work, it was something she proudly put effort into. However, I haven't seen the unruly side, not until this day. What I witnessed, it really boiled my blood...

Two venturing out this day, finding themselves amongst others. A girl putting in her best effort, running from place to place. Aiding others in their struggles, delivering packages, these small meaningful actions.

Those friends shortly in front of a group in the open streets, their anger at the girl. Dabria's unease, stepping back a bit.

"You shame the faith of Desdemona, sullying our way of life." A man's stern expression on her.

"There is no place for those who do not follow the doctrine." A woman folding her arms.

They would go on and on, all for a slight thing. I never saw anything like this until today, but I just could not keep quiet and let my friend be berated like this...

An entity constantly searching for her brother, never crossing these occurrences. Finding herself in a simpler setting, seeing the truth resting in plain sight.

Her increasing anger, stepping in front of Dabria. Those people's rising fury, the goddess meeting it in kind. Her extending influence, filling them with fear. Her sharp vision on them, folding her arms.

"It appears to me, that she genuinely carries the faith. Desdemona cares not for petty things, it was made clear in the words left behind."

"Ava...maybe you should not agitate them anymore." The girl moving a bit closer to the maiden.

Maybe I should not have, but I cannot simply stand by and allow my name to be run through the mud. And more so, the least I can do is defend my friend.

A hostile area, these many believing in their vision. Pushing out others a bit different, these true colors to the maiden. Hearing their anger, those loud voices. Not backing down, her sharp words to them. Eventually keeping the girl close, guiding her through the crowd.

Making their way back to the church at night, some barring the path. Refusing to allow entry, the goddess looking around for a bit. Her stretching malice, lunging out at the few, dragging the screaming people to the depths below.

"Wh--what happened?" Dabria shockingly covering her mouth.

"Hard to say, but it looks like they were merely sent home from what I can tell." Ava's eyes on her surroundings.

"Is that so? I am glad, maybe Desdemona did it." The girl sighing in some relief, her hand to her chest.

"Who knows, probably some ticked off demon for all we know." The shrugging maiden.

A never stopping bunch, wanting to do something more. Her goal to find her brother, not allowing anyone to hinder her path. A goddess considering another, choosing a more lenient direction.

Two alone in the dusk, their presence in front of the church. That bleeding moon shining down its light, telling a deeper story within its gleam.

"You know, you never told me where you live." Dabria curiously pressing her index finger to her chin.

"It is best not to know." Ava turning from the girl.

"Oh come on! If I find something, I can immediately go to you." The lavender one pouting, shortly walking up to the maiden, holding their arm to her chest.

Cleverly twisting her words, but it wasn't that I could not trust her. Rather, I trusted her, a lot. It was more about what I am, and what I do. This being the reason for me concealing where I live.

An entity thinking about another, the horrors existing in the shadows. Trying to keep it on herself, not wishing to involve the pure one.

A person doing much, bringing more into the maiden's empty world. The deity's appreciation for it, enjoying a more simpler time. Glancing back to the girl, seeing their persistence. Desdemona sighing, her hand behind her head.

"I might tell you one day." Ava's soft voice.

"No might." Dabria frowning at her.

"Heh, alright, I will tell you one day, better?" the goddess looking away, her faint smile.

"Yes, better." Dabria's bright smile at them.

She was someone who always did her best, always smiling despite the difficulties in her life. A handful she was, but also a good friend. A person that came into my black world, shining light into it.
