Burning Desire

I told myself a long time ago, that I must keep going. That it is the only way to exist now, so that I can bring meaning to the ends of my people. To see order done, to prevent another catastrophe...

A hero's soul engraving deep into the demon, yet a person unable to understand the Iconoclast's pull. A devil wrapping other's in her warmth, bringing them into her grasp.

A formidable ally on her side, the demon's desire to reach after his light. Making his way to a park, the empty area underneath the dusk.

The sounds from the swings moving with the wind, some sand blowing with the breeze. Azim standing there in front of the devil, his hands in his white coat pockets.

"Azim, you were a beloved hero. Why do you side with the Iconoclast, knowing everything she has done?" Aswald shaking his head in anger.

"It is true, there are things I cannot forgive her for. Though, I can see and feel how hard she truly tries to make things better. That is good enough for me. It might not be perfect, but it brings me ease knowing she can step in if something goes too wrong." His calm voice.

"She took countless lives, so many that had nothing to do with the problem!" swinging out his arm.

"You're right, but at the same time, she created infinite possibilities. A future away from the gods, to craft our own lives, it was her doing. And what's more, when the worlds abandoned us. She was there to give us a place to belong, a voice to be heard. Not everything can be great, I know, but it is good enough to settle on." Turning from the man.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

"So, there is no getting through to you. Defender of Midgard, what a joke." Aswald slightly turning his head, scowling at the hero.

"Aswald, I won't let you get to her. Even if I lose this life, I will return, and will engrave my burning soul into you." Azim glancing back to him.

"I will make sure you all stay dead." Aiming his blade at the person.

A heart burning with a great desire, the demon wishing to bring about a new tomorrow. These two underneath the bleeding light, Rin sadly holding her hands to her chest.

Watching the clashing two, Azim's sharp kicks hitting away the devil's attacks, quickly flipping high into the air. His arm above, unleashing an intense fire.

The hero diving to the devil, grabbing their head, slamming them into the land. Crushing the area in their powerful waves, rubble flying into the air.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I sympathize with your loss, your path. Though, it will just cause more problems." The hero stepping away.

"Then let it...if it means an existence without the Iconoclast...!" Aswald rising to his feet, blood streaming down his head.

"I can see why the rest fell to you." Azim's stern vision on his foe.

A demon continuously rising, enduring the agony on his body. Malice secreting from his body, his black soul revealing from behind.

The hero slightly moving his feet, rushing forward. Enveloping himself in flames, charging into the darkness wrapping around him.

Releasing the wave within him, the crushing force sinking in. The shortly violently exploding attack, smoke filling the area. Aswald soon standing there, watching a pure light rising into the sky.

"A bit too close for comfort there. Iconoclast, these are some powerful allies you have gathered." Folding his arms.

"You won't stop huh..." Rin lowering her head from behind him.

"For change to happen, one must command it themselves. Sorry...I know you did not want this for me..." Aswald slightly looking away.

No matter how much it pains her, I have to keep going. To sever the Iconoclast's links, to truly bring her down...
