Chapter 2: A Light From the Past(Conclusion)

Days long ago, two souls once with the other. Their connecting hearts on an unlikely encounter, their bond growing over the passing time.

Two continuously with one another, relishing in the simpler experiences. The morning sun shining down on the Kingdom of Valice, Atlalune making her way through the lower quarters. Her black armor on her, scratching the back of her head.

Her attention on her surroundings, this messy area. A place deteriorating over time, buildings needing repair. Many suffering, trying to survive. Keeping their distance from her, knowing her position.

Everyday is like this here, those the kingdom ignores. Ever since I joined the Royal Order, they have been afraid to approach me.

Progressing higher, gaining recognition from those above. Her life steadily turning around, choosing to remain in this place. A constant reminder of the conditions, wanting to do something more.

The princess' displeasure, wishing more for her. Offering a room in her home, the maiden refusing to accept it. That knight making her way to the castle, her presence before the enormous gate.

That large object coming down, seeing Estelle on the other end with some guards. Her grey top, a dark dress wrapping below. The pure one running out, grabbing the mercenary's hands, pulling her inward.

"What took you so long?" pouting at her.

"Sorry, I live far below ya know." Atlalune faintly smiling at her companion.

"I told you, you can live here in the castle." The princess moving to the maiden's side, walking next to her.

"I am fine down there." The knight's hand behind her head.

"You are so difficult..." Estelle frustratingly folding her arms, looking away.

Opening her home to the knight, that person refusing, choosing to live below. A strange individual, countless others willing to jump at the opportunity. Experiences to the maiden, carrying it with her. Pushing onward, reaching for her path.

Tightly holding onto what is her own, never letting go. Her eyes slightly to the princess, softly smiling at them. Eventually finding themselves in the hallway, the two standing before Rona.

"Oh? That's kind of you princess. Thank you, that will be very helpful to me." The commander pressing her fingers together, smiling at her.

"You're like family here Rona, it is only normal." Estelle's hands behind her back, grinning at the person.

"And before I forget, Atlalune. It is fine and all for you to be with the princess here, but don't go skipping your drills." Rona folding her arms, her strict vision on the maiden.

"I will complete them as soon as I can, but the princess' priorities comes first. And by that I mean, please save me from this psychopath." The knight clutching her hands, pleading to the woman.

These purely flowing sentiments, simple days in the presence of two. A knight once below, many ignoring her. Choosing to gamble it all, putting her life on the line. Becoming a disposable piece, surpassing her challenges.

This talent leading to recognition, her eventual meeting with a princess. Someone constantly with her, their strong bond. An individual requesting her services, cleverly reducing their costs. Wanting more, their quirky behavior in different scenarios.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" Estelle facing the maiden, her hands on her waist, pouting at them.

"Exactly what it means." The knight's humorless gaze on her.

"Haha, you two have become very close." Rona smiling, her hand to her chin.

Those bright eyes of the sun, her displeasure to the knight. Enjoying the outside world, her companion taking her out there. Protecting her from danger, allowing her to explore to her heart's desire.

An increasing warmth within, her growing concern when her friend is away. An individual unable to use magic, someone combatting many terrifying foes. Returning with wounds, hoping it never gets worse.

"Princess, later on I need to discuss some things with you. It is having to do with security." The commander folding her arms.

"Very well." Estelle facing them, pressing her fingers together, smiling at Rona.

Simple days, those pleasantly relishing in it. Wishing for these times to continue, their hearts in its vastness. That commander's drifting mind, some sorrow to her.

These warm feelings within her, wanting to maintain it. Having her job, her willingness to follow through on it. Shortly watching the two head off, the princess voicing her frustration to her knight.

"Forgive me...Estelle, Atlalune. Though, I too have my job to do. When the attack happens...that will mark the end of our friendship..." Her sad eyes, slightly looking away.

Her dreadful heart, desiring for another way. Her purpose to play, streaming along in an endless line. Meeting two people, this harsh reality before her.

Keeping her eye on her goal, moving pieces into place. In another room, that maiden and princess sitting at a table. Some others there, this important meeting. One man looking to the knight, his stern expression on her.

"Princess, once again, this is a private meeting. Atlalune has no right to be here." Folding his arms.

"You know what? I fully agree, forgive my foolishness. I will get going now." Feigning her dismay, rising from her seat.

"Not so fast." Estelle grabbing her companion, pulling them back down onto the chair, her humorless gaze on the knight.

Never liking meetings, this princess having the maiden sit through it. These slow sessions, constantly dying inside. Wishing to go elsewhere, having no purpose there. Her companion wishing for her presence, bringing her along in it.

Their encounter on a certain day, two learning more about each other over the passing time. Their close hearts, Estelle desiring for the knight's participation in these events.

"Atlalune is my most trusted guard, so it is only right she is aware of these things." Firmly holding down her hands.

"I can always get notes later, no need for me to sit through this..." The maiden's pale expression.

A bright sun coming into the knight’s life, shining light onto their path. This quirky individual, her slightly haughty nature. Her irrational fears, yet these smaller points bringing more to her.

Requiring her knight with her, these two venturing everywhere together. Some more exciting, others painful to get through. These pleasant emotions, its purely flowing waves. The princess leaning to Atlalune, grinning a bit.

"If I have to suffer through this, then so do you." Poking her friend's rib.

"Game over...for me..." The knight lowering herself in defeat.

Common sentiments, those sharing in its bliss. These days of pleasure, embracing it with another. Someone from the slums, never thinking to come this far. Hoping for a way out, her life drastically turning.

This princess with her, her one true friend. Those in this place, their pitiable eyes on the maiden, a sigh leaving them. Shortly continuing with the meeting, Atlalune steadily crumbling within.
