Chapter 9: Raining Sorrow(Part 1)

Events so long ago, two from differing worlds. A moment of bliss, tragedy setting in. Emotions wildly dancing, hatred boiling at the core. Even so, a heart desperately trying to maintain itself. Far above the worlds below, passing the many clouds, that realm of the gods and home to the angels revealing. Floating masses of land connecting through chains, an ancient gate standing tall, those symbols burning upon it. Passing through Heaven's Gate, through the flourishing city, those gods residing inside of a massive palace. Twin gardens on opposite ends, lakes accompanying both sides. Grassy plains surrounding it, a labyrinth of a path. Statues of the gods, each shimmering underneath the light of the sun.

Inside of the palace, up in the throne room, those gods gathering around. Odin sitting upon his throne, that deity resting his vision on his followers. Some unrest coming from them, something distressing no less. Freya, a goddess continuously following The All-Father. Floating at his side, running her hand through her long hair of gold. Those eyes of hers reflecting the earth, her gaze upon her companions. Conflict around every end, an attack against the demons coming to a conclusion, Valor no doubt playing a role in it.

"This is most peculiar, why did Valor leave?" Chronos folding his arms, slightly looking down.

A heart of painfulness, two old friends meeting for a moment. Pleasureful yet dreadful, that smile returning, going away soon after. One leaving, his mind elsewhere. Confusion lingering amongst those deities, wondering of his location. Questionable his actions are, but this time being most different. Those gods conversing with each other, sorting out possibilities. One holding the wishes of his old friend dear, heading down into the world of the demons. That deity not returning, his heart in bondage, seeking a way out of his torment.

"He seemed in a rather ill mood." Freya marginally looking away.

Sympathy expressing from her voice, well in awareness on his state of mind. One losing a close friend years prior, continuously holding onto those times, trying to live up to the expectations of a demon. A problem he may have been, brightness of his smile in those earlier days. A fragile one he is, one of innocence. Strong he may be, but also childish. That night never leaving her mind, a deity returning in so much of a pitiful state. Memories far inside of the past, such returning to her awareness.

A night at an unrest, pain gripping at the soul. Cold the breeze is, unsettling emotions flowing through. High above the clouds, far above the worlds below. Valor standing in front of Heaven's gate, that small girl inside of his arms. His head hanging low, that one biting his lower lip. That bleeding moon so high, his arms shaking. Energy concentrating ahead, Freya materializing in front of the gate. Her vision on the child, her expression of confusion. Gazing upon the god, witnessing the pain deep inside of him. Floating up to him, her hands upon his shoulders.

"Valor...what happened...?" she questions in concern.

"Cyra, Ardin...Maria...I failed them..." He depressingly responds.

Those eyes of the goddess on the child within his arms, her vision slightly shifting to sorrow. A great tragedy upon the god, that one sharing a bond with two. A failure leading to loss, this much Freya is in awareness on. Slowly stepping away, her hand reaching for Valor. That god shaking his head in refusal, turning away from her. The unsettling wind, his heart in agony. That old friend in this state, his grief of deepness. Hanging his head low, his arms shaking. A night of misfortune, but a solution he is having.

"Where are you going...?" Freya questions in sadness.

"Taking this girl somewhere safe, I will be watching over her from a distance. It will be a while before I return..." Valor heading onward.

Agony of deepness, words never reaching another. A mother desperately trying to save her own, that one failing. Her spirit inside of her daughter, damage no doubt in place. That deity taking responsibility, his own inactions many years prior. Words never reaching her, that smile going away, returning for a bit. Pleasureful but sorrowful it has been, those two sharing a moment. Years it might be, but some day that old friend will rise once more. No matter so, his own inabilities gripping him with fear. That one wondering how he will confront her, a wrong so long ago leading to a chain of misfortune.

That night never leaving the goddess, Valor in such a state. That one holding a small one inside of his arms, his voice of sorrow. A night of horror upon him, one living through the demise of two of his friends. That deity realizing how limiting his influence can be, a heart sinking further since that event. Countless years of looking over one from a distance, returning from time to time. A soul yearning to soar with another, his heart in bondage. These experiences the goddess learning of over time, that god of openness. One from highness descending to the land, developing emotions for another walking the earth. Complexity of feelings, Freya understanding a bit more through the passing of time.

"Whatever happened, it is certainly working in our favor." Ares turning with a smile on his face.

That one no longer within the picture, a heart in pain. A supreme god standing so high, one descending to the land in those distant years. A devil opening his eyes, a time of joy it has been. Years upon years of torment, that deity desperately holding on. Valor reaching his limitation, leaving on his own. Ares uncaringly shrugging, this situation working quite well. That god no longer hindering their path, possibilities coming into place. Glancing to his companions, folding his arms. An opportunity coming into reality, one in where they can proceed.

"Indeed, now with Valor out of the picture, we can continue with our initial plan." Odin calmly agreeing.

A mighty power being off of the playing field, a most welcoming development for The All-Father. Artemis turning her attention towards Odin, placing her hand upon her waist. Those deities having their priorities mostly in order, a darker time slowly creeping in. Valor's influence of the last line, one sinking into his despair. That one heading into the NetherWorld, his objective in stopping an assault against the demons. Genocide no less the answer of the deities, yet one standing in opposition. That event leading to a result of pleasantry, those pieces still in play.

"What should we do about Valor?" Artemis questions Odin.

One no longer on the playing field, a threat he may be. That All-Father considering this possibility, a deity in a state of vulnerability. No matter so, risks still of highness at the moment. Positioning his arms in a thinking posture, Odin considering the best course of action. Connecting points, that god heading down into the world of the demons, a lawless land. Unsettling emotions clawing away at The All-Father, uncertainty on approaching this angle. Slowly shaking his head in refusal, Odin playing a different hand for now.

"For now we leave him be, proceed with our plan." Odin uneasily responds.

Those deities resting their vision upon each other, nodding in agreement. That supreme deity no longer on the chessboard, yet still remaining a threat. Years upon years, that All-Father sharing his throne with another, this opportunity paving the way towards his glory once more. Gazing upon each of his followers, those deities acknowledging Odin. Those stars smiling down, desires reaching into reality. Valor, a deity reigning above countless. No matter so, his heart of fragility. That one desiring to soar with another, years of observing from a distance. A moment coming, yet that only lasting an instant.

Powerlessness he is experiencing once more, that smile going away so fast. Standing in a familiar flowery field, irises blowing in the wind, sorrow expressing from his eyes. That deity resting his vision on his right hand, witnessing it slightly twitching. Regret paining him, even so, his actions freeing a devil from her suffering. A distressing sigh escaping the god, that deity lying down in that field of flowers. Gazing up into the endless blue sky, her words echoing through him. Events clawing away at him, a heart seeking release, a soul wishing to fly with another.

Hehe, you are much too easy, Val.

Now then...tell me what is on your mind.

What we share...it's not normal huh...

Far from it, but that has never stopped us before. It has always been our differences that brought us together, through good times and bad times.

Yeah...it's just...—

—never-mind, it's nothing of importance.

Oh...well...I guess I should tell you this...

Tell me what?

I have an arranged marriage...

An arranged marriage...?

As you know, I am no ordinary demon. I am the daughter of the Demon Tyrant Alastor.

I see...do you want to be wedded...?

I am very happy.

I see...well, I am glad.

I suppose...this is it huh...

Yeah...our journey together ends here...

I should be going now...thank you, Valor...for everything...

Events so long ago, feelings inside of a lock. Words never reaching the other, that voice of sadness. One retreating into his shell, an action leading to a chain of misfortune. That smile going away, a bond between two drifting apart, desperately trying to hold on. Those years going by, her smile but a fabrication, distress expressing from her. His presence easing her, but not nearly enough. That one seeking release from his torment, that old friend desiring the same. A night going wrong, a mother trying to save her child, terribleness coming . Waves of emotions flowing through the deity, those many hours of watching from a distance, awaiting the return of his close friend. That time coming, his own hand silencing her life.

Ever since that night, those words eternally haunting me. To never speak what I truly meant, but it was not all so bad, at least she was alive. I thought it was bad losing her once, but twice...and by my own hand as well. A cruel joke this is, a nightmare never ending. Supreme huh...what a joke, I could not even save my best friend...

Those two parting in that place so long ago, that deity desiring for another ending, thinking on the other possibility. Propping his arms behind his head, remembering those times of pleasure. Heaven and earth meeting, a bond forming between two. Endless adventures, a smile of brightness from one of dearness. A wonderful dream it has been, but such times coming to a conclusion. Those two awakening, walking away in this dreadful field. That deity constantly thinking if it has been possible to keep that dream going, one wishing for a most painful time to have another ending. Closing his eyes, slowly inhaling and exhaling. That deity falling into a deep slumber, pushing away his sorrow, losing himself within the blackness of his mind.
