—700 Years Ago—

The refreshing breeze underneath the beautiful night, stars spreading across the sky. High above the clouds, existing far from the worlds. The realm of the gods, and home to the angels.

Many floating platforms connecting through chains, an old gate standing tall, ancient symbols burning from it. Two companions sitting at the edge, Maria and Valor. Their visions down below, enjoying the sight.

That god glancing to her, shortly turning his attention above. Events hundreds of years ago, this within his memory. Thinking back a hundred years before, the eradication of Heaven's Gate still clear to him.

"Hard to think that a hundred years before, this entire area was gone." Valor faintly smiling, his hand pressing against his lap.

"You should not have allowed your curiosity to get the best of you." The young woman glancing away a bit shyly.

Scratching the back of his head, looking down to the clouds. His awareness on the past, an error on his part. Events clawing away at her, scars within her. The slowly recovering demon, her branding pain.

Progress steadily happening, her hatred for those days. That old friend failing her long ago, an inaction leading to much sorrow. Still thinking on it, his companion needing his aid.

"Ah...sorry, I will be more careful." Apologizing to her.

A mistake from him, triggering her rage. Someone never intentionally harming her, this valuable friend to her. Glancing in his direction, the deity's vision to her. Her slight smile to him, teasing him a bit. His reddening face, embarrassment coming over him.

A bond between two, this remaining strong to the current day. The god pressing his hands back into the ground, holding himself up. Slightly lowering his head, a sigh leaving him.

"You're a tease ya know that? You're practically halfway there..."

Maria laughing a bit, these warm feelings to her heart. Her companion faintly smiling, glancing in her direction. Their close relationship, this keeping firm. Memories a mystery to her, her path towards them.

That devil's vision to the floating clouds below, the endless opportunities past them. Fondly thinking to her many adventures, cherishing those times. Her smile not sincere, yet these true feelings.

"We have gone everywhere down in Midgard." Her hand to her chest.

The deity taking her everywhere in that world, knowing her adoration for it. Humans living at their own pace, enjoying both good and bad times.

A mix between corruption and hope, a realm continuously pushing towards the future. Their insignificant lives on their own, yet together displaying a magnificent force.

Those amazing experiences, the demon witnessing both sadness and joy. Her deep sorrow, that place sparking something within her.

"Yeah, but that's the great thing about humans. They are constantly changing, we won't ever be bored." Gesturing his hand to her.

A continuously shifting world, rising above many challenges. War tearing through the realm, their great agony. Desires driving their way, yet others extending a hand to one another. These strong sentiments, the maiden learning from them.

Her old friend bringing his many findings to her, his childish nature. Someone unearthing a new object, immediately reporting it in amazement. This innocence in existence, appreciating his presence.

"I suppose so." Calmly agreeing, her vision a bit to him.

These simple moments, the deity slightly looking away. The painful past to his mind, those many actions from his old friend. Her crying heart, eternally engraving her mark into history.

A tormenting event, their sentiments to the other. Understanding these emotions, her choice at the end. That god wondering if it is her punishment, someone constantly suffering. Wrongs from the gods in times from yore, her life falling apart.

That hatred inside of her, a chain from the actions of one. The maiden rising from the depths, challenging the deities, eternally scarring countless. Maria noticing his conflicting expression, tilting her head to him in concern.

"Are you well?" her soft voice on him.

Glancing to her for a moment, soon turning his attention to the moon above. Her presence not in acknowledgment, her curse from the past. The reason for her pain, foolish individuals from old.

"I've just been thinking." His distant voice.

"Thinking what?" confusion from her.

"What do you want for yourself?" his eyes towards her.

His surprising question to her, her uncertainty on an answer. Her deep emotions, her lingering pain. Trying to make sense of it, a part of her life missing. Desires long ago, blackness at her core.

Her hatred far inside, wishing to know the reason behind her sentiments. Her great dread, her constantly gripping agony. These tormenting feelings to her, gripping her upper arm, her vision a bit to her side.

"For myself...?" biting her lower lip.

Her path in the past, the young woman pushing onward, refusing to remain quiet. A chain of tragedies binding her, that person fighting against it. Seeking after a simple desire, many more within her. A demon rising far, choosing to become the enemy.

The god following her wish, patiently awaiting her return. The many years going by, unable to do anything more. His companion there with him, not knowing their full history together.

"Yeah, for yourself." Placing his hand on her shoulder.

His awareness on her deepest desire, hoping for her answer. Yearning for her awakening, not wanting to lie any longer. Their close bond, a god willing to follow through on her request.

Her vision shifting to his hand, deeply thinking on his question. Her swirling sentiments, darkness around her. Her hazy memories, those mirroring walls.

Touching it, the numerous rushing blurry images. A wrong from the past, that deity wishing to make things right. A single mistake leading to more, that entity reaching for those days.

"I...do not know..." Her hand to her chest, slightly looking away.

Lowering his arm, moving his attention to the clouds below. Disappointment from his eyes, hoping for a certain response. A devil seeking after her happiest times in the past, a simple desire going a far way.

Her warm hand extending to numerous, her selfishness wrapping many in her light. Her current struggles, having to remain quiet. Two old friends, their joyful days from old. A certain coming night, words never reaching one another.

Those companions walking away from the other, years of torment springing from it. Valor constantly wishing to do things differently, her sincere smile leaving from that event.

"You possibly cannot be thinking to be a soldier forever." His distant voice.

An individual from yore, someone not bending to others. Her great despair, those spilling sentiments. Now living as a soldier, following the orders from the gods. Doing this for years, acting as the guardian to Heaven's Gate.

These many emotions within her, unable to describe it, desiring to know the reason for it. Hatred at her core, one wishing to be free from her torment. A job for a long time, those conflicting feelings in her.

"Is that not why I exist...? To serve the gods...?" her uncertain tone, slightly looking to him.

"Don't be silly now." His vision to her.

Their meeting eyes, the deity warmly smiling at her. Awaiting her return, remaining in the shadows, protecting her. Those earlier days, that young woman doing the same.

Fighting to the brink, enduring her sorrows, watching everything around her fall apart. Two old friends forever defending each other, always them against the worlds.

Despair clawing away at the soul, an entity from the abyss breaking through her challenges. The god constantly following, supporting her path.

"You serve no one. Not me, not anyone. Everyone leads their own life, and you should be no different." His gentle voice on her, pressing his hands against his legs.

The maiden looking away from him, deeply thinking on his words. These familiar feelings within her, her desires from the past, one wishing to return to her happiness days.

Her memories no more, yet those emotions remaining inside of her. Someone serving the gods, her clashing sentiments. Steadily realizing her worth, a friend bringing it to her attention.

Thinking on a life she wants, this warmth in her heart. The deity looking straight to the endless sky, his faint smile.

"It's okay, give it time. Anything you so want, I'll make it happen." Assuring her.

Her deep emotions, her mind on the question. Wishes from the past, these lingering in her heart, feeling those desires at her depths. Years in torment, her great agony. A heart crying out, those sensations engraving into her.

Concentrating, forming those feelings into words. Growing more certain, a way to achieve what is within. Dread coming over her, selfishly moving forward, these sincere sentiments.

"What...I want..."

Her words to his notice, the deity looking at her. Some darkness extending from her, her magnifying emotions.

Witnessing this, that old friend stepping towards the surface, his racing heart. No matter the request, a god willing to grant it. The painful past, one living her life in torment, the other never able to comfort her.

A curse of an existence, that demon having simple wishes. Her strongly burning resolve, challenging the gods from yore.

"What I want...is to...leave here for good. I feel like if I do, I will find my answer..." Sadness from her voice.

"Then I will make that happen." Brightly smiling at her.

Mysteries inside of her, searching for a solution. These lingering sentiments, one wishing to be away from conflict. Yearning to put down her arms, her displeasure for the battlefield.

Agony for years, this tracking her to the current point. That deity knowing the end result, having to think on a way to shatter those tragic chains. Maria's vision to him, appreciating him.

An irreplaceable companion, his pure heart. Slightly looking down, emotions long ago, that devil forming them into words.

"Will you come with me?" her hand to her chest.

Wishing for his presence, something more with it. A piece towards her older days, these gripping feelings. Desiring for those times, running after them.

Her words to him, two old friends continuously there for the other. An endless sorrowful cycle, anguish gripping their hearts. Her efforts setting the path to that joy, a way to make it an actuality. Her great sins, those damning actions.

A heart suffering for years, pushing onward in the harsh tides, letting the worlds know what rests in her soul.

"Of course, you know you'd be bored without me around." Gesturing his hand to her, grinning at her.

His natural response, this reliable friend. Returning a similar smile to him, both shortly looking to the clouds below. These emotions deep inside of her, her calming hatred, her fading malice.

That demon understanding her feelings a bit more, her heart's true desire. One wishing to be away from the conflict, wanting to put away her weapons, seeking to continue on with her companion.

Those old friends chatting away the night, planning their movements. The maiden moving towards her joy, yearning to break away from her nightmare.
