Chapter 99 – Wild Chase
----------------------------------------
Zhula rested on one of the fallen rubbles near the main gates. The head of the Guild Master and his body were displayed just in front of the main gates.
Zhula’s tanned skin was shining. Sweat and blood filled her body, and looking closely, it drips from her nape to her shoulder blades, then to her armpits.
She was quite a seductive huntress and the barbarians who could see their leader stretching her well-muscled arms could feel a sensation on their crotch rising. Both men and women were having this sensation as they look at their strong leader.
She was able to slay a strong foe. Not to mention that in just a few hours, the City of Lugenstan will belong to them.
Reinforcements are also coming to the City. The Barbarians from the other city already managed to turn to the City of Tinople into a barbarian controlled city. It may look like the prisoners are controlling it but in truth, one of the trusted war leaders of Al-Goraz is holding the city.
The person was able to blend into the human society due to his natural appearance. In fact, that man was someone Zhula knew. She also thought of him as a hated one, but since learning that man’s success. She began to think otherwise.
To Zhula success is all that matters. And with the City of Tinople captured, and soon the City of Lugenstan becoming Zhula’s demesne, it can be said that Zhula can raise her head high in pride.
“I did Master...soon our people will not starve.” Zhula thought of the family she left behind on the savage lands. She knows that staying on the savage lands will only end with their death. She accepted this truth the moment Al-Goraz showed them the sleeping beasts that hide in the savage lands.
In fact, the truth is that Al-Goraz feared those beasts. And in order for the people under him to survive, he had no choice but to schemed against the humans, while at the same time, aligning themselves to the non-humans with a new name for his people.
Not Barbarians but Goraz. Al-Goraz wanted a much kinder name but his people thought that his name will suit them right. They wanted Al-Goraz to take pride in the fact that they have become less savage in nature. Although displaying people in the wide open road is still a bit barbaric.
It is a start for them. And Zhula is still on the learning side. It is hard to let go of the things one is used to. So until the day that their campaign is over, Zhula wanted to change her ways. For now, she is a warrior of the Goraz people, a war leader that led the Goraz folks to capture the city of Lugenstan and emerge victorious against its champion.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Zhula was feeling the pride, although hurt all over with the battle still raging on, Zhula was feeling too good, but when...suddenly.
“HIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”
A voice sounded out as she was about to a rest. She looked at where the voice was coming from and there she saw a Hawkhorse that has two people riding its back.
Time slows down for her as she meets the cold dead eyes of one of the people riding the Hawkhorse. Gray-haired, bearded, and looking like as pale as snow. The person was familiar and she identified him as one of the people that were with the guild master.
Knowing this Zhula immediately grits her teeth and immediately ordered her men to give chase. Zhula started dashing at a speed of a horse and manage to leap by the Hawkhorse’s side. She readied her spear and was about to bring the two down but she met resistance.
It was a barrier.
She wasn’t able to pierce it so she retreated, and rebounded back and hit the barrier hard and finally broke it. The sound of glass breaking sounded out as the barrier gets destroyed. The one that is holding the reins muttered something and seeing this, Zhula wanted to slash the two’s head only to see the dead-eyed man looked at him as if peeking into her heart!
Time slowed down again as she liked the eyes of the gray-haired man. Not noticing that he was casting something, she was about to continue her attack, but the barrier of the one holding the reins stopped her. And as she was about to redirect her spear back to the two she saw the dead-eyed man forming a protection aura on his hand and a sort of barrier in form of a tube. Then a sphere of grayish energy came out as this energy then erupted, blasting Zhula backward, landing on the ground flat on her back.
Her chest was hit and she could see that there was a bleeding happening. That explosive power managed to break her bone armor and the iron fittings on it. But luckily it was able to save her from having chest blasted into pieces. It wounded her badly, and she can feel her heart beating rapidly, as she then kneeled on the ground spitting blood.
Looking at the dead-eyed man turning his back on her, Zhula felt a weird sensation on her chest. She didn’t know what it was obviously, but there is one thing for sure. She wanted that man brought to her immediately. So she commanded:
“AFTER THOSE TWO BRING THEM BACK TO ME! BRING THAT GRAY-HAIRED MAN TO ME!”
With that single angered command, the mounted barbarians near the gates turn their mounts to give chase to the two who managed to wound their war leader.
They rushed quickly out of the main gates.
Zhula slowly stood up while holding her injured chest. One of her attendants that came with her lend Zhula her fur cloak, in order to cover herself up.
Zhula was quite pissed, ashamed and some unknown emotion came to her heart. She felt disappointed at herself, for being injured this heavily.
She wanted to give those two a wild chase but with seeing she is injured and fatigued, she didn’t dare to be reckless and let her attendant take care of her.
She cannot allow such weird emotions that are rumbling her chest to cloud her judgment!
