Chapter 75 – Spell Learning

----------------------------------------

Ramiel taps his fingers on the table. His eyes pointed at a white parchment that has a ten paragraphs worth of incantations. This document is the scroll that Dall brought twenty minutes after Eziel’s visit at his office. Along with the scroll were various miracle-bearing spells and a few books that seem to be recommended by the guild master.

The first book was about the short history of the guild. The Guild is founded by the government of Lugenstan. A ‘guild’ in name only but it was mostly controlled by the military. It is to give leeway and made the rather roguish fighters that came by to join the shorthanded army of Lugenstan. In fact, only through decades after the Fighter’s Guild was built that the connection between the military weakened. But it still doesn’t change the fact that the Fighter’s Guild is military funded.

Ramiel was quite not surprised about the guild being funded. In fact, when he was in the Town of Tal, he tried to look for any sort of guild-like buildings only to find disappointment. The Fighter’s Guild doesn’t exist everywhere and aside from near borders nations. The Fighter’s Guild is a few.

However, the Fighter’s Guild is still large itself. After all, the warriors, mercenaries, and hunters of the Guilds are well trained. They fight monsters of different sizes and challenge foes that usually normal mercenaries could not handle.

The Second Book was about the rules of the guild. Ramiel read it thoroughly for an hour and the rules resemble that of any organization.

He remembered the rules and took note of the important ones. After reading the second book, Ramiel was about to read the third book which was about a witch named Regina. It was quite a fairy-tale, so Ramiel just puts it somewhere to read it when he can.

A red book, a blue book with tattered pages, he got a lot of books from Randal. He was quite surprised of the books and thought that he might never read them all in a week.

The Scrolls given to Ramiel is far more important to him. So Ramiel was quite excited to read the scrolls, remembering the parchment’s incantations. He was able to grasp the following spells; Protection, Purify, Detoxify, Hallowed Arrow and Holy Chains.

The former was the usual healer like spells but the latter was surprisingly an offensive spell. If the spells were poems or school related. Ramiel probably would take days just to remember one of them. But something about magic that really activates his enthusiasm.

In Ramiel’s mind, he just thinks that learning any spells is cool. Besides, he could always carry the scrolls with him and fanatically practice them until he manages it. It was his gaming obsessed mind that made him rather fanatical in learning spells.

It still bothers him that he could not use offensive spells. In his mind, he would really love it if he can cast fireballs but sadly, the reality of his body being incompatible with the mana of the world is there.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Miracles and Curses or through the use of Conduits like the elemental bracer—Ramiel was at least glad that he is able to learn or use magic at all.

...

Afternoon, in his office, Ramiel found himself completely engrossed with the spells given to him. Super-focused without minding the world, Ramiel could be said that he is enjoying learning these spells. A knock sounded on Ramiel’s door, it opened and the docile, long eyelashes, the black haired receptionist came in with a shaky face. Dall entered already since she already knocked thrice, yet Ramiel never bothered to answer the door.

Her hands on chest, she moves her head from right to left. She looks at the unblinking eyes and was quite hesitant in bothering Ramiel. She approaches him with two steps, she tried to speak a bit trying to make the unblinking Ramiel notice her.

“Ah.”

Ramiel finally caught a whiff of Dall’s presence.

“Good whatever time it is Miss Dall is there anything I can do for you?”

“Eh. I would like to have my finger healed.”

“Okay, let me have a look.”

She extended her finger at Ramiel. He saw long wound that starts from the tip of her finger, until the end. It was quite large, but the one thing that caught his attention was.

“That Bluish Red Blood of yours...is that normal?”

“I am sorry!” She apologized.

“Why?”

“I thought that Sir might not like seeing a blood like this.”

“Is this a race sensitive thing?”

“Y-yes...”

“Then it is not a problem at all. Here, let me heal it already.” Ramiel says with an indifferent expression.

He put down the scroll he was holding. He created a soft orange light on his palm. He made it touch Dall’s lacerated finger, the wound slowly stitched up and got closed. Ramiel saw the rather painful look she made, he was about to ask her what’s wrong but decide to shut his mouth instead.

He made a customary smile as he retraced his hand. Dall was quite relieved about her finger, she said to Ramiel.

“Thank you for healing my finger,” Dall said

“No problem, it is my job after all,” Ramiel said, looking back and forth at Dall’s finger and the scroll he was trying to learn. “So it is no problem!”

He smiled again. He returns his eyes back at the scrolls. Dall who saw him do that smiled wearily, she then slowly excused herself and left the room silently.

“Weird.”

Ramiel muttered as Dall left the office. He leaned his chair, he looks at the window illuminating light behind and sighs again, he then made a dead-eyed look in his eyes, as he then returned to reading the scrolls in his hands. Like an automaton, Ramiel forgot about his other tasks in the guild and stayed focus on memorizing the schools. With a straight eye, unblinking, unmoving, and fanatically obsessed with the piece of parchment in his hand, Ramiel’s day went by with him just staring at the scrolls.
