Chapter 108 – Different Minds
----------------------------------------
Ramiel woke the next day. His stomach rumbled, and the dry salty wind entering through the windows, the door made him bothered. He could guess that it was already high-noon and seeing that he immediately took out of the few dried fishes and rye bread stored in his house’s wooden crates and started eating them.
The dried fish was, well salty and crispy. The rye bread was hard like a rock, and it was simply there to add filling to Ramiel’s stomach. The meal is quite something that he already got used to. At least it was better than the time he was eating almost rotten organs of cattle’s.
Ramiel took his gourd of ale and took a drink of what’s left inside. It still has a bit but Ramiel knew that he won’t be having anything sooner or later. Ramiel almost had no money now so he probably won’t be able to refill his ale and soothe the pain he is feeling.
It was weird for Ramiel how he could endure the feeling of pain every day. He feared closing his eyes forever, and even though he should have nothing to liver or fight for. Ramiel somehow keeps on waking up, looking at the next day with such nihilistic view.
There was simply nothing to it. He just wants to keep continue living without knowing why, he just wants to see the sun, feel the wind, and live. It was as if Ramiel was just an empty vessel, waiting to be taken out. He doesn’t live because he wanted to, it is simply he wants to live just because.
No ideals.
No goals.
Just live until death.
He knows that he will suffer.
He knows that every day will be a living pain.
But Ramiel somehow clings to life.
There was no reason to do so.
There was simply none.
Looking at it from a logical standpoint, Ramiel should just give up.
A man without any dreams, goals, or aspirations, how could someone like that live?
Why does he persevere so much despite seeing no light in the darkness?
It is an empty feeling for Ramiel. He tries to search for any meaning yet there was simply none to be found. It was more of an unconscious choice for him to keep on living.
Despite all of the suffering, Ramiel felt like living.
Maybe he became masochistic.
But even so, he felt like living.
Killing himself wasn’t an option simply because of fear.
If Ramiel was asked how he would like to die.
Then he would reply: “I want to disappear. Just disappear.”
Ramiel feels a long of anger and suffering at the moment. He feels like despite being transported to a different world, he was still miserable. He felt that even though his life should have changed drastically, he felt even more miserable than ever.
Shouldn’t he have become great?
But it looks like changing yourself isn’t that easy.
No matter what world Ramiel is. As long as his personality, his ideals, his wanting are unchanged. No amount of power would be able to change that.

But even so, there is a big part of Ramiel that asks.
“Is there anything I can do?”
It was a mere question on top of his head.
And at the moment he cannot find any answer to it.
He was simply a normal human being.
...
On a field filled with corpses of eldritch abominations.
There stands a man with a broken horn at his hand.
Standing bloodied, this man’s tattered coat fluttered along with his black hair.
This man is heavily panting.
Spots of blood could be seen on his face, and his toned body was revealed, as he bathes in the blood of the abominations before him.
The purple soil that the Dark Elvens lived on were now bloodied.
Blood spilled everywhere.
There was no room for anything other than the abominations and blood.
It has been weeks now since this man was trapped in this place. A barrier was put in place, and he wasn’t able to get out. No, it was more like getting out would mean that the monsters summoned by the demoness would wreck havoc to the world.
He knows that once that happens, the world would go down the path of chaos.
He has fought these monsters for the first time.
Beings that came straight from hell, these monsters were something that an ordinary human could not hope to defeat. The only reason why he is alive is that of his power.
The power that he used to slay monsters, crawl dungeons and defeat legions of barbarians.
He was someone that was branded by the title of Carnifex and Reaper.
He has fought on many stages within his life.
From small beginnings and now he faces the most dangerous stage he has encountered within his life.
Julian Nostredame knows that the moment he falls here, the world would be in trouble.
As a figure known as a murderer, a slaughterer, a butcher and most of all as a Hero, Julian could not allow the world to fall.
The world rests on his shoulders.
And whatever his choices are would affect this world.
He knows this enough by looking at his actions.
That is despite the million grotesque eldritch abominations that he see could in front of him, covering the whole land of the Dark Elvens. Julian, who sealed the lands of the Dark Elven has fought non-stop in order to protect the Hillines Continent and mostly, for the one he loved.
It was his reason for living.
That is why despite the overwhelming odds, and the mockery of the demoness that he once abandoned. Julian Nostredame could not dare to stop fighting.
His will like iron, his heart that of steel and his blood made of fire.
Julian Nostredame steps forward and killed another beast.
This stage of despair won’t put him out.
He has faced many stages of despair and this stage is nothing to him.
So that is why Julian, despite the overwhelming odds charges again for the thousandth time, knowing that the million he sees would attack him.
He is doing this because he wanted to protect.
And as someone who wanted to protect, he wouldn’t give up!
There was just no way he could let the world fall.
After all, he was different and was chosen to become a Hero.
