Chapter 113 – Pints of Hope
----------------------------------------
Ramiel slowly accepted it all.
Despite the days of his in this world being cruel and unfathomable, Ramiel steadily found peace in this village of Sardis. He found this village through stabbing someone in the back. But even so, he might meet his end. Death smiles at everyone, so one can only smile at death back.
Ramiel is still suffering from his ailments, but with how he got used to it, his heart has slowly calmed down. His mind might still be in turmoil, but with how things are for him in this village. He is slowly healing, both in mind and soul.
He has seen a lot and was thrown a lot but in this village far from any other nation, Ramiel is slowly coping up. And at best the acceptance of this world to him is happening. He has lost a lot in this world ever since being transported.
He lost all of his belongings.
He got a disease.
He got a curse.
He lost his sanity.
He broke an arm.
He lost three fingers.
He is limping
His hair whitened.
He lost his innocence.
And he lost the peace.
But the latter can still be salvaged. In fact, ever since coming to the village, he found that peace he was looking for. The village of Sardis was isolated, sure there are goblins and monsters that sometimes disturb the peace, but overall the village and mostly the lands of Gann were kept safe.
It was because of the Inquisition that works under the king. They hard to spot, hard to fight, and came from a weird void that allows them to spread fast and do efficient work, no one knows what they are other than the King.
So Ramiel found peace in this land.
Of course finding peace doesn’t mean he would change instantly. But even so, from all the suffering he got, this village was a respite to him.
He felt like coming to this village was not a mistake. Even though he got used to slaying dens of bandits before he got into this place, Ramiel felt like it was worth it.
He didn’t feel trashed, and this village was indeed comfortable.
That is why despite finding himself in this place and despite his expectations of how things will surely get wrong. Ramiel prayed that the peace at least would last a while. He wanted to bask in the peace of Sardis. He wanted to heal his troubled soul and turmoil mind, so he wanted to at least pray to his own God, that such things will stay.

In life, troubles are not a stranger. A person could suffer much continuously, but even so, there will be a time this person would find himself in the calm before the storm.
Ramiel’s life is currently on this calm.
And in this calm he found himself on a stone, resting before the cogs of fate, which didn’t have a pull on him, would draw him back to this storm.
But even so, a troubled man can have his peace even for a while.
That is why in this village of Sardis, where the winds are salty but cool, the sun bright but warm, Ramiel who is currently near the barracks worked on healing the local guards that are injured again. In particular, this place was filled with them, but there is also a hunter that usually helps the guards. He’s a hunter levy, a strider that takes cares of giant beasts around the village.
This person was named Raul, and he has been chummy with Ramiel.
The two did not get along first, but with how Ramiel took down a Saurian. Raul felt like he can get acquainted with Ramiel. The two talked, but merely talk, but within a few talks, the two got a bit friendly.
“There you go Raul, now you can fuck off back to hunting.”
“Damn, you are rude man, well free healing, I ain’t complaining.”
“Free healing sounds great, but give me a spoil of your hunts, should that be enough? I heard that you gave Pablo a shitload of rabbit legs?”
“Oh that thing, well I saw whole horde of them and thought I could hunt them, so I did and got a lot of rabbit legs. I can give you a spoil if you heal me and the local guards here.”
“I can work with that,” Ramiel said. “The sun might be good for me.”
“Maybe it will, I mean look at you, so pale as if you are on step towards death,”Raul said wittily.
“I guess I will find out.”
Ramiel slapped Raul’s injuries, and it made Raul cringed in pain, as he stood up arching his back. Raul looked at Ramiel for a while before smiling and taking his bow with him. The local guards slightly laugh but move in line as Ramiel healed them.
This was the usual for Ramiel now, and he didn’t like it or hated it, and think of it more as a something that he does. There was a bit of merit in befriending the guards, not to mention that these guys are keeping the village safe from the common monsters outside.
Ramiel was done healing the soldiers, so he stood up and walk away from the barracks. In an arched road, Ramiel slowly walks, limping. As he passes through the houses, he saw the shop that an old lady manages, then as he continued he saw another shop which he can buy food and supplies.
Ramiel didn’t have the money so he just walked past the shops until he arrived at the intersection where Pablo’s Inn is. If he goes left, he would find the gates and exit the village, on his right would lead either to the beach or the uphill houses, where his house is located.
If he goes backward then he would be able to see the chapel, the barracks and the shops that he passed by. This village was small, but it had the sense of community that Ramiel oddly liked. Ramiel smiled naturally for the first time, he never smiled that much in this world, but seeing this community, and he can’t help but feel a good feeling.
“Hey stop standing on the road.”
Someone patted Ramiel’s back heavily. He looked back and saw the robe wearing blonde elven that has been pestering him, making a lovely a smile. The sun behind her back, her blue eyes were like jewels. Ramiel was a bit shock, but he dispersed his expression, turned deadpan and said.
“Some people these days.”
And he continued walking.
Peronell who heard him slightly frowned. She started complaining but Ramiel wasn’t listening at all. She was a bit angered, but in her position, she could not see the rather odd cheerful smile that Ramiel was doing.
She didn’t know that oddly she was giving Ramiel pints of hope.
And Ramiel, despite being annoyed by Peronell, liked the company.
