Chapter 63 - Trapolstan Desert

Chapter 63  - Trapolstan Desert

----------------------------------------

The great sands of Trapolstan claim thousands of lives each year.  The hills of sands that covers the desert makes walking impossible unless one is a person who can defeat an army by himself.  The sun isn’t the only enemy of the lands.  Various beings that lurk underneath the great sands must also be accounted too.

How the weather in a blazing heat haze filled surrounding is obvious. Now imagine a thousand insects crawling in a swarm. That would make any sane person or animal escape. The sound that came from the centipede-like carriage that treks through the vast desert leaving a trail of dust.

If one were to look within an eagle-eyed view. They would see the creature carving the great sands, leaving its mark. On top of the creatures back is a mounted wooden carriage. It is tightly attached to the carapace of the centipede in order for the people riding in the back and its cargo not to fall.

In the seats of the carriage, there are people that are holding tightly on the wooden rails. There are also people who got used to the shaking and tremors of the carriage. The cargo on the back of the carriage is tightly locked in place by four differently sized ropes.

In the top of the carriage, there are also armed men watching the horizons for any types of trouble. They are located in the four corners of the carriage, surveying the area with telescopes.

They are the crew of this centipede creature. Along with the drivers that guide's the centipede through a rope that is attached to a rod. This rod connects to the membrane of the centipede. Basically, they are the reins of the centipede that would allow them to control the creature.

It is not easy to control the centipede creature. A mistake would make the creature roll over its back and crushed the passengers alive. When that happens survival is questionable.

The drivers are currently bearing the weight of the passenger’s lives. So despite the fact that they just escaped the Tinople city and should be relaxing as the winds caress their face. They are currently so stressed up that one of the guard’s main duties is to keep the annoyance down.

The sound of the centipede’s legs digging through the desert is quite a skin crawling. If it wasn’t for that creepy crawly sound then the trip would be great. The sun is up high. The carriage is only covered by a leather tarpaulin.

It somehow blocks the blazing sun for a bit. The people in the carriage is sweating a lot, some are sipping through their gourds in order to quench the thirst. Some of the kids are being held by their parent’s arms. The injured people of Tinople were a bit weary and bothered.

In one of the seats located in the back part of the carriage, there sits two reclining in their seats. One is used to the tremor; one is just drunk due to the gourd of ale that he keeps on drinking on his left hand. He keeps it cool by the elemental bracer that he possessed in the left hand. The other one who sees him like that sighs in a worried matter.

It has been three days since they left the city of Tinople. During those days they only keep watch of themselves. Sometimes Ramiel would watch over the overly pretty elven and likewise, Leone does this to Ramiel.

In this day the two are awaked. In the end of summer, the night is cold. Luckily for the two, they can muster fire on their hands. Although Ramiel’s ‘fire’ is merely a torch big and really doesn’t warm him up. Leone who is an elven manages to help Ramiel. He is used to using cold resistance spells, such as anti-cold spells and anti-heat. He did all of this during the time he was out for blood.

So seeing that he is using his spells towards  him for caring not  for killing, made the Elven smile a bit, the drunk Ramiel smirked at Leone, saying.

“Man, you can cosplay as a chick and you would get away with...haha.”

“?” Leone has no idea on what Ramiel is saying. “What’s a cosplay?”

“When you dressed up as something you are not. Like for example I could dress up as a woman, and put on some long ears then that is cosplay.”

“I see, just like a disguise then. Though I wish you wouldn’t dress as an elven. That is an insult to us, to imitate our appearance.”

“Really...I guess the elven culture is strict, so that means no dressing up as a woman for you?”

“Nope, why would I do that?” Leone scratched his cheek as he said that.

Ramiel sipped the liquid inside his gourd. His face flushed, his eyes spinning, it was indeed a miracle that he wasn’t vomiting at the moment. His stomach has quite adjusted to the alcohol. Ramiel himself don’t know if the way he was eating in his first months  here in this new world made his stomach quite resistant. Ramiel keeps on drinking the gourd of ale. Leone’s face is quite stiffed as he watches the silver sky dotted with sheep-like clouds.

There wasn’t anything to do in the carriage. The rules of the carriage are strict, so no one was allowed to stand up unless the drivers told them so. The passengers were informed beforehand that they can only be allowed to do what they want after they arrive at the city of Lugenstan or an oasis.

Time passed rather fast in the desert of Trapolstan. The night came, and the sky got dotted with silver dots of lights and everything was so bright. The centipede carriage crawled and ventured to the desert. Then, it finally arrived in a rather small oasis that has a little water supply. Seeing that, the drivers decided to park on the Oasis, took a breath and shouted to the crew that they will take a rest in the oasis for a day.

The crew members got delighted and informed the passengers. Leone looked at the oasis and was about to prepare to rest when he noticed that Ramiel was knocked out.
