Chapter 88 – Tranquil Fury
----------------------------------------
Ramiel’s home is peaceful. Wooden as it is, it brought forth a strange comforting atmosphere. The greenery around the house also helps the home in being quite comfortable to live at. Berries, vines, flowers, trees, and the crops can be seen around his home.
The occasional sound of water from the water canals made for a quite backdrop. Ramiel is in his own backyard sipping on a gourd of ale. The taste of the cold ale made his sullen mood a bit better. In the wooden table in front of him, there is his box of cigars. Adding to that there are a few dishes strewn across the table.
Roasted pork, fried beef, and egg soup in a wooden bowl, he made them awhile ago as a side dish for his drinking time that is happening right now. Usually alone in this kind of time, Ramiel was already used to this kind of lonely life, back in his home world he is usually this lonely.
In fact coming to the world made him lonelier than usual, he cannot connect to the world’s inhabitant and aside from Leone, who he befriended in the Tinople City. There was no one that could really understand him and his woes. His mindset is different from the people. He could not understand why some of their mindset is like that.
Ramiel is an outsider to this world. He sees things from the perspective of a different world person. So he could not understand why they would still be so calm with war just next to their doorstep.
Ramiel sips on his gourd. He smelled the cold spicy smell inside the gourd. It was wonderful and it is just perfect for Ramiel. He bought the ale from one of the alehouses located in the market area. He was walking around when he saw the alehouse and thought maybe he could get his ale filled there.
Surprisingly the ale was delicious and it was close enough to be called as a wine. He likes the ale so much that he brought a jug in his fist visit, after that he talk with the owner to deliver some every week. With that, he would be able to refill his gourd of ale when he needs it.
Ramiel took another sip on his gourd of ale. His mind became even calmer as effects of it climb up his head. Holding a cigar in his other hand, Ramiel felt the smoke of the cigar coil around on top of his like an angel’s halo.
He took a bite of the roasted beef on the table. The flavor made his stomach crave for it and despite the odd way he drinks smokes and eats all together. Never once, Ramiel vomited on the spot.
He got used to this kind of activity.
Many will find it odd.
But since he is alone in his home with nothing but the swaying trees and the chirping birds, it could be said that this is a relaxed moment for Ramiel.
...
Ramiel after his round of drink and smoke fell asleep.
As he fell asleep he found his head glued on the table. He lifted his head, he looks around him and saw the world quiet as if it was at a standstill.
Gray shaded, the world has a strange aura to it.

Ramiel thought that he might just be drunk. He looked forward and saw himself with a wide smile on his face, a Cheshire smile that reaches up to the ears. Dead-eyed, crazed, and abyss-like, the eyes of the one in front of him lack any light.
Ramiel felt like he is staring at a less sane version of himself. In fact, he asks himself sometimes if he is even sane.
“Feeling lightheaded?”
“No.”
“I see. What about frustration...do you feel that now?”
“No.”
“I see. So you do not feel that too huh. So how about anger? Surely you must have that right?”
“No.”
“Lies, I can feel anger on you...don’t try to deny it.”
“I said no. I am fine.”
“Really now...after all that talk about curses, throbbing of the leg, the pain, and the rather self-deprecating talk about calling yourself a lame nobody...you don’t feel fury? Is your self-worth that pummeled to the ground that far?”
“No. I am just fine. So fuck the fuck off.”
‘Now, now, let us not be rude...”
The figure of himself snorted right at Ramiel’s face.
“Ah, my self...can you not really figure it out? Or do you want me to spell it out for you...that simple suspicion you have.”
“I already know what you’re going say. Like I said, there is no way that they would somehow make some elaborate ruse to do so. And somehow...they would use a lame nobody like me?”
“That’s the clue isn’t it?” the figure of himself laughed. “That ‘lame nobody’ can be used and be thrown into the rag. In our world it has always been like that...people using us for their own projects, putting the blame, and making us as some ‘nobody’ they can readily use. Don’t you think that is fine enough reason for them to use a ‘nobody’ to finally free a caged bird?”
“I still won’t accept it,” Ramiel said.
“Come on now, I know that you learn to read and write from them, but that doesn’t mean that they can just fuck with us however they want? Sure, we may owe them for that, but it doesn’t mean they can pass as a hundred-year-old curse that easily!”
The seething hatred that came from the mirror-like self of Ramiel was cold.
Ramiel could understand that the illusion he sees right now is his tulpa acting up again. In his dream, Ludak would appear.
Ramiel sighs at this weird ‘dream’ he is experiencing.
He got drunk it seems
He wanted to wake up already.
But seeing that Ludak who is taking his form is still seething mad, Ramiel took a sharp cold breath, he stared with the same cold eyes that Ludak has and said.
“It is still far away. No way to enter the borders, not to mention that the barbarians are just outside.”
“That’s a fucking excuse!”
Ludak slammed the table.
“Of course it is.” Ramiel calmly answered to himself. “I know to myself that it is suspicious. But the distance is far away, and either way...there will be a time that I may ask them...especially Sir Gundry...why he lied when he said there was an escort for me. I still don’t believe that the Lady who was so kind to teach me to read and write sincerely would somehow do all of that just for someone like me, she was someone that who would hate to see someone end up like her. So her aside, that doesn’t mean we cannot ask Sir Gundry why he lied to us-”
Ludak went silent as he saw the calm expression that Ramiel did.
Ramiel is speaking calmly but his voice, his tone, was so far too eerie.
“So until an opportunity arrives where we can visit the Town of Tal again. Let us wait.”
Ramiel denies that someone who spent her life suffering a curse would place a curse upon someone. To him, Lady Argos was kind enough.
Gundry was kind.
But aside from his kindness, there is something that if possible Ramiel wanted to ask him.
And that question is...why did he lie about the escort.
He truly wanted to ask him that.
And after getting his answer Ramiel would then decide.
But for now Ramiel wants to wait calmly.
