Chapter 8 - The Winter’s Kind Owner
----------------------------------------
Snow in every block, the wind pushing through creating mists, the people wearing fur clothing. The chimneys are blowing steam as the people in their houses are busy warming themselves up at the cold temperature. Families shared warm meals in their table. People are around the Town Of Tal have one thing on their mind: To survive the winter season.
In this society, in these years where electricity isn’t prevalent, the death toll of each passing years is rather high. Lady Winter’s misfortune spreads through everyone that didn’t have the blessing of warm, they would die. There might be some cases that some survives through the winter. The Beggars are pretty good in surviving, but they are dead now.
Almost the people in the Town of Tal wouldn’t last a day outside.
Also, they believe that Lady Winter’s wrath is much harsher in this season. According to the priestess that gets oracle from the deity of the Kingdom of Lin, the Sun God Auro’s Oracle. The Lady of the Winter sent an anomaly within the Kingdom of Lin. The priestess reacted to this anomaly quite badly. She never heard such an anomaly before hence the news was quickly spread by the Matriarch.
Due to this news spreading, made the beggars on the slums act desperate. Their death is due to that news. As if something other than Lady Winter is spreading misfortune. No one in the Kingdom of Lin knows such where the anomaly is. But most of the citizens just blame the Lady of the Winter, Schnee.
Auro and Schnee have always been archenemies from the start. Or so the legends of the Kingdom of Lin say. They are worshippers of the two deities. They worship Auro for good harvest, as the bringer of the Sun, while they plead the Lady of the Winter Schnee to be lenient to them in the times of Winter and Rain.
The Two Deities are like a scale. Without the other existing, it would bring irregularity. So despite ‘the anomaly’ that somehow got into the kingdom of Lin.
Everything is going well for the Kingdom of Lin. Especially for the Town of Tal. The Galleon Ships that usually travel out in the sea would come by and dock in the ports of Tal. When the Galleon Ships, containing goods from all over the world comes here, the merchants from the other towns would visit the Town despite the winter. A rather dangerous thing to do, but fortune favors the bold.
And in the life of being a Merchant, getting the quality goods, and making enormous profits is the goal. So as various merchants come into this town in bulk, not to mention the crew of the Galleon ships, the town of Tal would experience a boom in business. That is why the Town of Tal has the nickname of ‘Winter Light of the South’ due to how much torches and lamps are being put out on the street during this season.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Though the nickname sometimes causes questions to be asked among the population, they are mostly Auro Worshippers so they have a bit of wonder where the nickname of the town came from.
But even so, somewhere in the top of their heads. They accepted the nickname of their town as an honor. The locals are rather tribal, so they have pride in their town.
But anyway, as business booms in the town of Tal, a certain newly opened place is exploding with business. As a bar and Inn, it became quickly popular with the merchants. The ale is warm, the food is delicious, and the one doing the cooking is a familiar face for the Merchants.
Not to mention that what the Merchants like best are that the waiter isn’t some chatty brat. He does his job without uttering a word and doesn’t make the owner stressed. Most of the Merchants are familiar with the Caravan Master Felli. So despite her being a beautiful female, they have great respect for her. Her reputation is prevalent among caravan masters once. So seeing the white rose without gloom in her face made the merchants feel good.
In the world of Merchants, a good caravan master is everything. So someone like Felli is highly respected mainly because of her wits. Despite that her last caravan got destroyed, they still find it heroic that she managed to survive the onslaught. The Merchants here who saw the day she walks with blood dyeing her hair made Felli their idol.
Of course many wondered where she was. But who knew that she would be in the Town of Tal, managing a bar and Inn with some scrawny waiter?
Soon many would come into this place. But mostly, most of them would stare at the sweaty proprietress that many lusts in their head. Of course, none of them are that brave to approach the White Rose. Hence, they can only drink and eat their meals in silence.
The clueless drunks would get the courage. But the long sword on her waist is enough to make them sober. And with some of them knowing her talents and wits. They wouldn’t dare to mess with Felli. Not to mention that the first thing she does when they try to flirt with her is a threat to reveal one’s ‘flirting’ to their wives or lovers. So with such threats, most of the wooers would go limp.
Overall the business has been perfect. Felli, who hired the dumb mute didn’t get disappointed at the least. He managed to deliver the food and is fast on his feet despite being scrawny. Being fed must have given the Dumb Mute enough energy to do his job properly. Felli was worried about his communication problem. But looking at how hard working Ramiel is. She really cannot complain much. Plus, with his wage being small, Felli really can’t complain much.
Everything has been going well for her. And with how much business she is getting, along with some of the customers being former acquaintances, it could be said that Felli has a good start.
