Chapter 117 – Active At
----------------------------------------
Ramiel readied himself for the raid against the Deliverance cult. To prepare he wrapped a simple leather belt with two quivers, in his back, there is a simple shortsword. Wearing his usual leather armor, capelet, hidden blade gauntlet, his elemental bracer, and the crossbow repeater holstered on the right side of his waist, across his chest, there are five bottles with cloth sticking around, inside the bottles was oil, a peeled candle wax. He made these Molotov’s with the intention of using it.
He watched a few video tutorials randomly about these things, so it was the easiest to make. He also has few flasks on his pouches where he could throw it. He just needs to light the cork with elemental bracer or flint then he would be able to use it against anyone.
Ramiel understood the limits of his energy capacity. He can cast a protection aura, a barrier, a hallowed arrow, holy chains and the spell where he can use his incompatible energy to explode. But even with the spells, he can only cast them limitedly. And if overdid himself, he would have too overcast which isn’t good for his body. He learned that once he overused his spells, he wouldn’t be able to use it anymore and he will be downright crippled.
So instead Ramiel decided to arm himself with all of these. He would be to use some of the items, while he would try to avoid using his spells less. It would only use his spells from now if they are necessary. He didn’t want to lose his ability to cast spells and it worries him, thus he has to make it this way.
He needs to make sure that he doesn’t lose his spell casting. Protection aura, barrier and especially healing are a blessing to him. Losing it would be a tragedy for him and things would undoubtedly go bad if he does.
Ramiel finished setting up himself. He doubled checked once again to make sure that didn’t miss anything in the house. After checking, he took his bag, inspected the insides. A rope, a lantern, bandages, and medicines, there are also rations like dried beef, hard bread and another set of quivers filled with bolts for his repeaters. Just in case he runs out of ammo.
Ramiel was overly prepared for the raid. He didn’t dare to risk his life in being too careless. He is heading for battle so it was obvious that he should prepare himself. If anything, he learned that being unprepared and being reliant on luck is too bullshit.
He didn’t have any luck. If he did then he would still have his fingers, he wouldn’t be curse and definitely he wouldn’t be in this crapsack world that has monsters on it, so if anything, he rather doesn’t take his chances on luck, he wanted to rely on his readiness and preparations other than pure dumb luck. Because doing so would prove much greater peace of mind.

Ramiel left his house and went to the gates of the village, there he meets with Peronell and the others, who looked at the armed to the teeth Ramiel oddly. They thought that he sure is a prepared one, and didn’t mention anything as the local guards led the way to the place where the cult is located.
Ramiel traveled with the others for quite a while. Along the way, they meet with the encampment camp forces along with their beasts that have ballista’s mounted on the back. Ramiel thought that there would be a lot of soldiers but it seems that they sent their elites ones, along with some guards to protect the mounted beast ballista’s. Ramie originally thought that they would fight the ogres head on, but Peronell explained how stupid that is.
If they could rely on such range heavy weaponry then why would they ever want to face ogres that could break their bones in one hit? It was obvious that they would prefer it this way. Ramiel also agreed about this kind of tactic. He rather prefers it when he is out in long range. Close range battles are far too deadly, and even though the soldiers and the local guards from the village are up to it, doing so would cause nothing but injuries and possible casualties.
Things would be better if there was a warrior wielding a greatsword along with them. It would be easy and they wouldn’t have to worry about the warrior cleaving an ogre in half. But with most of the warriors of Gann staying in places where monsters like the ones Ramiel and the others are hunting are roaming, the King can only spare them with the beast mounted ballista’s.
The journey to where the cult’s den took time. Ramiel and Peronell spent most of the time bantering while Abby and Raul just stared at the two with shit-eating grins plastered on their faces. The trip was mostly peaceful, but the mood instantly changed when they arrive at the vicinity where the den of cultists and ogres are located.
With them arriving, most of the soldiers went prone and crawled to where the hill is. They did this to make sure that no one will be able to detect so that they can position and aim the ballista’s at the ogres standing near the entrance of the den.
Most of the encampment soldiers were armed with crossbows, while the local guards only have the bows provided by the army for them. The local guards and the soldiers didn’t speak too much; they didn’t even bother to know their names simply because this was a strict business, besides they can do that after all of this is over. It is a taboo for them knows other soldier’s name until the dangers passed. It was a cultural habit for the forces of Gann to do this.
After all, knowing the names of a new soldier, befriending them only for them to end up dead is something that affects the soldiers mentally.
That is why at the moment most of the soldiers and guards were focused on surviving, and massacring the ogres and the cultists known as Deliverance.
