Chapter 49 – Passing Seasons
----------------------------------------
In the middle of the fall season—a news shook the whole town of Tal. The Town’s Cursed Scriber, who was usually holed up in her house located in the noble district was seen at the port of the town, walking.
The Curse Scribe, the lady of the House of Argos was known for her black marked curse. A curse that induces one to endless pain unless the curse is ‘preoccupied’ and in the house of Argo’s case was to write things down, and thus the whole Argos bloodline was forced to write in a dim room. But somehow, by miracle, the lady of the House of Argos broke a hundred-year-old curse!
Not to mention that even with the curse broken. The abilities of the house of Argo's scribing didn’t vanish along with the curse. It was a miracle to the whole town and due to it that the Lord made a feast on his abode for the Lady. The Lady, however, begrudgingly accepted and was somehow not that happy. Her servant, Gundry, however, told the Lord that it is merely a shock for the lady. So hearing that, the Lord didn’t bother.
The Lady of the House of Argos after that feast was roaming everywhere in the town along with her servant Gundry. Seeing Gundry along the Lady, made the sympathizers of the lady felt really happy. The few noblemen and noble ladies tried to befriend the lady but pity the lady didn’t have the time for them. She was always roaming around to the ports, to the river, and then finally at the end of the days she would go to a certain Inn and looked for someone. After that, the lady would visit the gates of the Town and goes back home.
No one knows why the lady goes out of her way to do this. But one thing for sure, the cold ice queen of the town was no longer that. She was more cheerful as she walks under the remaining sun. But despite the fall season passing by rather quickly, the lady would still be doing her routine, while carrying a strange box tool.
No one knows the tool and no one also dares to even ask, fearing that the lady would take offense. The lady might be a bit cheerful, but somehow, she is a bit defensive when it comes to the tool. She cherishes it strangely and even looked sad when looking at the tool.
Gundry her servant, however, supports the lady. And through the winter, Gundry, the servant of the house of Argos would accompany the young lady throughout the winter, occasionally stopping by at an Inn.
It was quite a sight seeing the lady of the house of Argos well. She has quite the admirers thus her black hair fluttering along with the cold winter wind, while her cheery red eyes made the people who looked at her taste warm in their hearts.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Winter was quite less harsh than the last one for the people of the town of Tal.
...
During the Spring Season, a familiar figure walked through the gates of the Town. This figure was well known as a feared figure. But the moment the citizens of the town saw the figure, they were rather shocked.
The figure was with a little girl. And the little girl, who was rather fond of the figure, who was known as Julian Nostredame, was really attached to him. Many suspected that the little girl was the child of the figure.
The news spread quickly among the town and when the wary ones heard the ‘child’ they were quite indifferent about it, due to knowing the truth. Although at first, the head honcho of the Kingdom somehow felt rather depressed at the news, and only through combined efforts of servant’s that the head honcho was appeased.
The Town of Tal was lively. Especially, when the Carnifex, Julian Nostredame went to the Orient Inn, in there, he got a bit a cold eye, as the owner of the Inn, a long-time companion ranted at him for hours. The sweet little girl that was with Julian, however, told the owner of the Inn, that she is not the child of Julian. She explained her story to the owner of the Inn, and Felli, the owner of the Inn was quite a relief that the child wasn’t his. Julian felt mistreated and teased the owner of the Inn, and the scene of them bickering made the patrons of the Inn quite happy.
Desha, the waitress of the Inn was at hard work. But luckily, the Carnifex, the reaper himself was nice enough to help the busy Desha. And after a day of helping out the Inn, the Carnifex asked a question towards Felli. He was curious about the waiter that used to work at the Inn.
Felli who was asked about that suddenly frowned. She told him that one day, the waiter asked for a day off. And after that, he never came back and just disappeared like a bubble in the air. Julian got suspicious but according to Felli, the waiter that used to work in her Inn suddenly walked past the gates carrying his belongings.
She also investigated but according to guards, the waiter was last seen riding a caravan. And Gundry, the servant of the lady of the house of Argos testified that the waiter sold some of his belongings to the House of Argos in exchange for Gold.
Felli accepted the story simply because there was numerous witness. Julian Nostredame also scattered all his suspicions and went with the explanation. He as the freedom to do whatever he wants and Felli was clear about that. So Nonetheless, the talk about the missing waiter was buried rather quickly.
Julian also didn’t dig on the subject anymore and spent time at the Orient Inn until the end of the winter as usual. After that, he left the Orient Inn along with the little girl named Dace.
